• A finite difference lattice Boltzmann model which allows us to simulate gas-liquid two-phase flows with large density difference, for instance, 800 times for air and water is considered. Two-particle model is used and the density difference is introduced by changing the acceleration according to the fluid density. Numerical measurement of surface tension agrees well with theoretical predictions. Simulations of two-phase phenomenon for phase-transition is carried out, showing applicability of the model for two-phase flows. The two-dimensional cavitating flow around a board set up in the fluid way is also simulated. As a result, it was confirmed that the FDLB method with two-particle model was effective in numerical simulation of cavitating flow and the bubble periodically grew up at the low pressure area behind the board, in which the fluid condition was influenced by the cavitation number.

 • We consider zero range processes with density dependent jump rates g given by $g=g(n,k)=g_1(n)g_2(k/n)$ with $g_1(x)=x^{-\alpha}$ and $$g_2(x)=\{^{x^{-\alpha}\;if\;a<x}_{Mx^{-\alpha}\;if\;x{\leq}a}$$. (0.1) In this case, with 1/2 < a < 1 and ${\alpha}$ > 0, we show that non-complete condensation occurs with maximum cluster size an. More precisely, for any ${\epsilon}$ > 0, there exists $M^*$ > 0 such that, for any 0 < M ${\leq}M^*$, the maximum cluster size is between (a - ${\epsilon}$)n and (a + ${\epsilon}$)n for large n. This provides a simple example of non-complete condensation under perturbation of rates which are deep in the range of perfect condensation (e.g. ${\alpha}$ >> 1) and supports the instability of the condensation transition.

 • High functional catalyst to efficiently produce clean and earth-abundant renewable fuels plays a key role in securing energy sustainability and environmental protection of our society. Hydrogen has been considered as one of the most promising energy carrier as represented by focused research works on developing catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from the water hydrolysis over the last several decades. So far, however, the major catalysts are expensive transition metals. Here using first principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations we screen various pyrites for HER by identifying fundamental descriptor governing the catalytic activity. We enable to capture a strong linearity between experimentally measured exchange current density in HER and calculated adsorption energy of hydrogen atom in the pyrites. The correlation implies that there is an underlying design principle tuning the catalytic activity of HER.

 • High TC Y-Ba-Cu-O Superconductors were fabricated by sintering, sinter+HIP encapsulation. Specimens were sintered at 920$^{\circ}C$∼960$^{\circ}C$. A part of sintered specimens were treated by HIP, and HIP conditions were 150 MPa, 880$^{\circ}C$, 30min under the Ar atmosphere. The relative density of HIP specimens was increased 5∼8% in comparison with sintered one(90∼93% relative density). X-ray analysis represented the orthorhobic-tetragonal phase transition with annealing condition. Tc measurements showed a sharp drp within 3$^{\circ}C$, 91K onset and 89K offset. Transport current density(Jc) of sintered specimens showed typically∼159A/㎤ but that of sinter+HIP encapsulation was decreased to∼89A/㎤ because of insufficient oxygen diffusion, Hardness(H) and Toughness(Kc) were increased to 38GPa; and 2.9 MPam$\^$$\frac{1}{2}$/, respectively.

 • This paper analyzes recording density according to the shape variation of Electric Probe writer, and present a shape design method for improving recording density in perpendicular electric recording device. The gradient of electric field has to be steep to improve recording density because transition region on the media becomes wider when recording. The optimum shape of electrode could be archived by using Response Surface Methodology and 2-Dimensional Finite Element Method.

 • In wood-based composite panels, low-molar ratio (LMR) urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins usually result in reduced formaldehyde emission (FE) at the expense of poor adhesion. However, the FE and adhesion of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) bonded with LMR UF resins were both improved in this study. The modified LMR UF resins with transition metal ion-modified bentonite (TMI-BNT) nanoclay simultaneously improved the FE and adhesion of MDF panels. The modified LMR UF resins with 5% TMI-BNT resulted in a 37.1% FE reduction and 102.6% increase in the internal bonding (IB) strength of MDF panels. Furthermore, thickness swelling and water absorption also significantly decreased to 13.0% and 24.9%, respectively. These results imply that TMI-BNT modification of LMR UF resins could enhance the formation of a three-dimensional network rather than crystalline domains, resulting in improved cohesion.

 • The purpose of this dissertation is to build a development density control model and estimate optimum developmental density level for a sustainable urban growth management. To develop the model, system dynamics modeling approach was used. The model was developed to analyze how urban growth, transition, and decay occur depending on the interaction among population, houses, industry structure, land and urban infrastructure such as road, water supply, and sewage treatment facilities. The model was applied to Anyang city to estimate optimum density level. Extensive computer simulation was conducted to find out the maximum numbers of population, industry structure, houses, and cars that can be adequately sustained with the current Anyang city's infrastructure capacity. The computer simulation result shows that the city is overpopulated by some 90,000 people. It nab analyzed that 20% increase of existing capacity of urban infrastructure is necessary to support current population of Anyang city. To reduce the population to the adequate level whereby the current urban infrastructure can sustain, the current city regulation on floor area ratio needs be strengthened at least 20% to 35%.

 • In order to analyze the role of axial carbon atoms in rotational barrier of ethane, we take the carbonless ethane, as a model, which is made of six hydrogens in coordinates of ethane. The energy of the system is calculated by McWeeny's open-shell restricted Hartree-Foch selfconsistent-field (RHF-SCF) method, and the transition density on the staggered-to-eclipsed rotation is examined. As being expected, the eclipsed form of the model is more stable than the staggered one. Through the transition density comparison of this model and real ethane, it is found that the existence of the axial carbon atoms induces the electronic density to be diluted in the vicinity of protonic sites and to be attracted to the region of carbon atoms or further to C-C bond region as the barrier is traversed. This migration of electronic charge tell us that the barrier to the internal rotation of ethane originates from the fact that the magnitude of electronic energy depression is not large enough to offset the increased nuclear-nuclear repulsion on the staggered-to-eclipsed rotation.

 • Online traffic flow modeling is attracting more attention due to intelligent transport systems and technologies. The flow-density relation plays an important role in traffic flow modeling and provides a basic way to illustrate traffic flow behavior under different traffic flow and traffic density conditions. Until now the research effort has focused mainly on the shape of the relation. The time series of the relation has not been identified clearly, even though the time series of the relation reflects the upstream/downstream traffic conditions and should be considered in the traffic flow modeling. In this paper the flow-density relation is analyzed dynamically and interpreted as a states diagram. The dynamic flow-density relation is quantified by applying fuzzy logic. The quantified dynamic flow-density relation builds the basis for online application of a macroscopic traffic flow model. The new approach to online modeling of traffic flow applying the dynamic flow-density relation alleviates parameter calibration problems stemming from the static flow-density relation.

 • As the integration density and the operating speed of System on Chips (SoCs) become increasingly high, it is crucial to test delay defects on the SoCs. This paper introduces an enhanced IEEE 1500 wrapper cell architecture and IEEE 1149.1 TAP controller for the wrapper interface logic, and proposes a transition delay fault test method. The method proposed can detect slow-to-rise and slow-to-fall faults sequentially with low area overhead and short test time. and simultaneously test IEEE 1500 wrapped cores operating at different core clocks.
