  • In this paper, by designing ratio width of the permanent magnet versus the stator coil, double excitation LDM with multi-separated winding which is possible to obtain the constant thrust force is proposed. Using Empulse, this paper has explained a various excitation mode to analyze the thrust force of multi-separated winding LDM. The simulation results show single-phase excitation mode have low thrust force ripple.

  • Recently, we have developed a linear brushless DC motor(LBLDCM) with high speed and precise position control performance to apply it to the semiconductor assembly and inspection machinery. It is composed of double side alignment by two armature-stator pairs and each pair is consist of a moving armature with 8 poles by 3 phase coils and a stator with rare earth permanent magnet (Nd-Fe-B) arrays. Through the thrust force analysis on a simplified and whole model of the suggested LBLDCM by an Electromagnetic FEM solver, skew angle of magnet arrays to reduce the thrust force ripple and the winding conditions of the armature is designed. From experimental results, the user's requirements was satisfied and we confirmed distinctly that the repeatable accuracy less than a micron of the linear motion can be obtained at high speed by the developed LBLDCM. This is owing to directly drive the work without the gear train.

  • Recently, the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor as low noise, high speed and high thrust force transportation system has been proposed but this motor causes an increase of material cost because of its characteristic arranging the armature on the full length of transportation lines when this system is applied to the long distance transportation system. Therefore, we suggested discontinuous arrangement method of the armature to solve this problem. However, Detent force which causes thrust force ripple generating noise, vibration and decline of performance is generated when a mover pass between the armatures. Thus, in this paper, we examined characteristic of detent force to reduce the end edge effect according to the end edge teeth's height and auxiliary teeth and suggested the shape that can the most reduce the detent force.

  • In this paper. a control method based on finite element analysis is presented to improve the control characteristics of t the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). In the control method. additional compensation current is a added to the conventional control current according to the position of mover. The characteristics of thrust ripple a according to the position of mover and the current are analyzed by using finite element method (FEM). And. the value of current to compensate the thrust ripple due to the cog밍ng force is calculated from the analysis results. The c characteristics according to control method are compared in case of speed control. and to conform the validity of the p presented method, a test set is built and experiments are performed.

  • This paper presents the analysis and optimization of air-core permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with overlapping concentrated windings to achieve high thrust density, high thrust per copper losses and low thrust ripple. For the motor design, we adopt equivalent magnetizing current (EMC) method to analyze the magnetic field and give analytical formulae for calculation of motor parameters such as no-load back EMF, dynamic force, thrust density and thrust per copper losses. Further, we proposed a multi-objective optimization by genetic algorithm to search for the optimum parameters. The design optimization is verified by 2-D Finite Element analysis (FEA).

  • Detent force develops generally undesirable effect that contributes to the output ripple of machine, vibration and noise. This paper proposes detent force minimization techniques for a Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM). In addition, thrust according to each minimization technique is estimated to observe the change of machine performance. A two-dimensional Finite Element Method is used to predict detent force and thrust due to structural factors and non-linearity. And moving node technique for geometric models is proposed to reduce modeling time and efforts.

  • This paper presents the vibration reduction of PMLSM according to permanent magnet array. The detent force and the lateral force arc generating the thrust ripple that cause vibration in PMLSM. The detent force, the thrust and the lateral force is analyzed by 3D FEM. And the acceleration sensor is used for experimentation of vibration.

  • We had developed a prototype Linear Pulse Motor(LPM) for the linear motion actuator. In this paper, it is mentioned a new dynamic equations which is considered the nonlinearity of the thrust force of LPM. And a measuring method of ripples in the thrust forces is proposed and the ripples were measured in the laboratory. In the experimental results, it is shown the validity of the proposed measuring method for catching of the ripple values and waveforms in the thrust force.

  • In this paper, the notch of teeth, the shape changing and skew of permanent magnet are used to reduce the detent force. And addition, overhang of permanent magnet is applied to increase thrust because thrust is decreased by skew. As the results, detent force is decrease greatly about 98(%). And, the ripple ratio of thrust is decreased from 11.34(%) to 0.25(%).
