In this paper, we have performed 3-dimensional time-resolving measurement of the Ne light emitted from the cell of plasma display panel(PDP) as a function of the pressure using the scanned point detecting system. From the temporal behavior results, we could analyze the discharge behavior of panel with Ne-Xe(4%) mixing gas and 300 torr, 400 torr and 500 torr pressure. At the top view of panel, the discharge of 300 torr panel starts at the 634 ns and ends at the 722 ns. The emission duration time is about 90 ns. The discharge of 400 torr panel starts at the 682 ns and ends at the 786 ns. the emission duration time is about 100 ns. Also, the discharge of 500 torr panel starts at the 770 ns and ends at the 826 ns. the emission duration time is about 56 ns. The discharge moves from inner edge of cathode electrode to outer cathode electrode forming arc type. In the side view of 300 torr, 400 torr and 500 torr an emission shows that the light is detected up to 180${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 150${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 70${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ height of barrier rib and the emission distribution of the 300 torr is wider than 400 torr, 500 torr.
This paper proposes a reduced-scale simulator that can replace numerical analytic methods for the estimation of potential distribution caused by ground faults in various grounding systems. The simulator consists of a hemispherical electrolytic tank, a three-dimensional potential probe, a grounding electrode, and a data acquisition module. The potential distribution is measured using a potentiometer with a position-tracing function when a test current flows to the grounding electrode. Using the simulator, we could clearly analyze the potential distribution for a reduced- scale model by one-eightieth of the buried depth and length of the grounding rod and grounding grid. Once both the shape of the grounding electrode and the fault current are known, the actual potential distribution can be estimated.
With the high sustain frequency at 250 kHz, a three-dimensional diagnostics of excited xenon atoms was investigated by the emission and absorption microscopic spectroscopy for plasma display panels, spatiotemporally. As a typical feature of the emissions, a broad discharge peak was observed on the temporal cathode and a sharp one was monitored on the anode, at the high frequency. However, the discharge starts from the cathode edge, actually, that is a discharge space on the floated address (or data) electrode. Spatially, the dense emission and absorption peak were observed in the discharge space between the sustain electrodes gap. Overall, the microdischarge at high sustain frequency showed priming dominant characteristics.

Forging operations are non-stationary processes occurring because of indirect pressure, generally, under conditions of three-dimensional stress and deformation. Furthermore, due to friction and the constraints of die geometry, deformation is not homogeneous. Material flow and deformation are largely determined by the shape of the tools. It is well known that net-shape forging can improve the mechanical strength of the final product as well as reduce material waste. Oxygen-free copper that is used for electrical and electronic components has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Oxygen-free copper parts have a low productivity in cutting process. Thus, the forging process is performed in order to improve the low productivity in cutting process. The forging of oxygen-free copper for electrode body parts was modeled using finite element simulation and forging experiments that were conducted for producing electrode body parts at room temperature. In order to reduce the cost of cutting products, the forging was performed in a closed cavity to obtain near-net or net-shape parts.

In this paper. a new two types of EST(Emitter Switched Thyristor) structures are proposed to improve the electrical characteristics including the current saturation capability. Besides, the two dimensional numerical simulations were carried out using MEDICI to verify the validity of the device and examine the electrical characteristics. First, a vortical trench electrode EST device is proposed to improve snap-back effect and its blocking voltage. Second, a dual trench gate EST device is proposed to obtain high voltage current saturation characteristics and high blocking voltage and to eliminate snap-back effect. The two proposed devices have superior electrical characteristics when compared to conventional devices. In the vertical trench electrode EST, the snap-back effect is considerably improved by using the vertical trench gate and cathode electrode and the blocking voltage is one times better than that of the conventional EST. And in the dual trench gate EST, the snap-back effect is completely removed by using the series turn-on and turn-off MOSFET and the blocking voltage is one times better than that of the conventional EST. Especially current saturation capability is three times better than that of the other EST.

The fabrication of complex three-dimensional electrodes for micro electrical discharge machining (micro-EDM) is an important issue in the field of micromachining Localized electrochemical deposition (LECD) is a simple and inexpensive technique for fabricating micro-EDM electrodes. This study presents a new process for manufacturing electrodes with complex cross-sections using masks of different shapes, In this process, a non-conductive mask is placed between an anode and cathode that are immersed in a plating solution of acidified copper sulfate. The LECD is achieved by applying a pulsed voltage between the anode and cathode, which are separated by a small distance. In this setup, the cathode is placed above the anode and the mask, so that the deposited electrode can be used directly for EDM without changing the tool orientation. We found that the microstructure of the deposited electrode is influenced by the concentration of the plating solution and organic additives. Moreover, the values of the voltage, frequency, and duty cycle of the pulsed input have significant effects on the microstructure of the fabricated electrode. Finally, the optimum values of the voltage, frequency, and duty cycle were determined for the most effective fabrication of complex-shaped electrodes.

In this study, we proposed a novel electrode structure for the fringe field switching (FFS) mode LCD and performed a three-dimensional computer simulation to calculate the optical transmittance for the new structure. In the simulation Erickson-leslie equation and Berreman $4{\times}4$ matrix were used for obtaining the director distribution profiles of liquid crystal molecules and the electro-optical characteristics, respectively. Considering the complexity of the motional equation of the liquid crystal molecules, FDM (finite difference method) was used as a numerical method. From the results, We revealed that the light transmission of the newly designed pixel structure is expended to the edge of the pixel electrode. We also confirmed that the light transmittance increased more than 13% compared to that of the conventional electrode structure.

Vacuum interrupters have a special asymmetric electrode structure to generate an magnetic field and consequently to increase the interrupting ability. Accordingly 2-dimensional analysis has a large analysis error because radial flux can not be considered. In this paper, in order to analyse the electric field distribution of a vacuum interrupter with arc shield more accurately, 3-dimensional finite element method(FEM) is used. The induced electric potentials of floating shield was increased with the gap distance, which is because the relative position of shield is closer to the fixed contact so that the capacitance distribution inside interrupter is varied. The calculated results also show that the induced potential of shield causes electric field distortion so that the maximum value of electric field in a vacuum interrupter with arc shield is higher than that without one.

In this paper, we measured 3-dimensional temporal behavior of the light emitted from discharge cell of plasma display panel(PDP) as a function of the pressure using the scanned point detecting system. The detected light signal through the PM tube is sent on the oscilloscope and oscilloscope which is connected to PC with GPIB. The whole system is controlled by a PC. From the temporal behavior results, we could analyze the discharge behavior of panel with Ne-Xe(4%) mixing gas and 300torr, 400torr, 500torr pressure. The top view of panel shows that the discharge moves from inner edge of cathode electrode to outer cathode electrode forming arc type. At the 300torr, initial emission time is very fast. The side view of panel shows that the light is detected up to $150{\mu}m$ height of barrier rib. In the panel of 300torr, emission distribution is wider than the others.
