The aim of this research is to explore the potential of analogy and metaphor as design strategies for supporting the creative design thinking. For the empirical research on analogical and metaphoric process in designing, we conducted design experiments that consist of three different conditions of given items as stimulation for design inspiration: baseline, surrealist paintings, and housing design collections. The results were analyzed using a protocol analysis in order to obtain more systmatic interpretation of the design processes and strategies. As a result, it was noted that students are more apt to read visual information rather than semantic information in the given items. Instead of the representation of their senses or feelings from the paintings, they visualized the analogical images of the paintings for the design representation. However, analogical and metaphoric thinking derived from the given items seem change a designer's perspective, thus bring a novel interpretation on design problems, and eventually more creative and meaningful design ideas. An extended research using one-semester training and observation of the design studio process is introduced as a follow-up study for this paper. This research will investigate the long-term effect of the analogy and metaphor on the design thinking.
This study sought to determine the impact of the graphing calculator on prospective math-teachers' mathematical thinking while they engaged in the exploratory tasks. To understand students' thinking processes, two groups of three students enrolled in the college of education program participated in the study and their performances were audio-taped and described in the observers' notebooks. The results indicated that the prospective teachers got the clues in recalling the prior memory, adapting the algebraic knowledge to given problems, and finding the patterns related to data, to solve the tasks based on inductive, deductive, and creative thinking. The graphing calculator amplified the speed and accuracy of problem-solving strategies and resulted partly in students' progress to the creative thinking by their concept development.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of positive thinking and self-esteem on school adaptation among freshmen in a nursing department. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 172 nursing students in the month of December 2017. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A positive correlation was found for school adaptation with positive thinking and self-esteem. Positive thinking, self-esteem, major satisfaction and interpersonal relationships were all significant predictors of school adaptation. The model explained 43.6% of the variables. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that positive thinking should be considered when developing strategies to increase school adaptation among freshmen in nursing departments.

As an international company in the automotive industry for years, Sichuan Hyundai has encountered serious difficulties since its entering into China. With huge investment and great ambition to conquer the China commercial vehicle market, successive setbacks have put the company in jeopardy. Design thinking, emphasizing "user-driven innovation" can help to look for effective and possible solutions from a very strong and effective perspective. This thesis first provides a comprehensive look of the economic background of China in order to get a overall understanding of the market. Then the paper did an analysis of Sichuan Hyundai from the perspective of design thinking. By identifying the reliability bias of Sichuan Hyundai, key problems such as the product, advertisement and cultural communication were discussed. With a emphasis on the intuitive thinking, the paper provides some feasible solutions and also implications for the future development.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of positive thinking and subjective happiness on school adaptation in nursing students. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 282 nursing students in the month of November 2013. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A positive correlation was found for school adaptation with positive thinking and subjective happiness. Positive thinking, subjective happiness, and major satisfaction were all significant predictors of school adaptation. The model explained 30.2% of the valuables. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that positive thinking should be considered when developing strategies to increase school adaptation in nursing students.

Today, companies and social actors at the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are focusing on active innovation and efforts to adapt to rapidly changing environmental changes. Design thinking refers to creative strategies designers utilize during the process of designing. Design thinking is also an approach that can be used to consider issues and resolve problems more broadly than within professional design practice, and has been applied in business and to social issues. However, there are some limitations in the design thinking methodology during the project in the field. This paper presents a novel design - thinking process that incorporates a lean start - up based business model into the design thinking process. We conducted a case study to verify the effectiveness of our new design thinking process in social innovation projects. In this paper, it is meaningful to suggest and verify a new process that combines business model Zen to complement the limit of design thinking. It will also provide guidelines for design thinking projects as tools for social innovation.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the auxiliary questions of word problems presented to students on their problem solving-strategies and mathematical thinking and to discuss the educational implications of the results. As a result of making an analysis, problems that included auxiliary questions to give information on workable problem-solving strategies made it more possible for students of different levels to do relatively equal mathematical thinking than problems that didn't by inducing them to adopt efficient problem-solving strategies. And they were helpful for the students in the middle and lower tiers to find a clue for problem solving without giving up. But it's unclear whether the problems that provided possible strategies through the auxiliary questions stirred up the analogical thinking of the students. In addition, due to the impact of the problems provided, some students failed to adopt a strategy that they could have come up with on their own. On the contrary, when the students solved word problems that just offered basic recommendation by minimizing auxiliary questions, the upper-tiered students could devise various strategies, but in the case of the students in the middle and lower tiers, those who gave up easily or who couldn't find an answer were relatively larger in number.
This study was conducted to develop and test effects of E-book based Flipped Learning education for nursing students. This study was one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from 54 second-year nursing students in the located Y city and August 28 2017 to October 16 2017. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS 20.0 program. The results showed that the program was effective in increasing the critical thinking disposition (t=-8.62, p<.001), academic self-efficacy (t=-9.62, p<.001) and major satisfaction (t=-8.11, p<.001). The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates the critical thinking disposition predict 13.4% (F=9.22, p<.001) of major satisfaction. The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates the critical thinking disposition predict 13.4% (F=9.22, p<.001) of major satisfaction. Therefore, strategies for enhancing critical thinking disposition is needed by applying various teaching and learning strategies for nursing students.

Computational thinking is an ability to resolve problems that may be applied to the various real world problems and is regarded as the core of computer science. Computational thinking may be improved through experiences of analyzing problems and of selecting, applying, and modeling strategies appropriate for problem-solving. In order to enhance computational thinking of learners, it is important to provide experiences of solving various problems. This study designed puzzle based learning in order to educate learners principles of problem solving, let them have experiences of interest and insight, and provide them with problem solving experiences. The puzzle questions used for learning were classified into six types - constraints, optimization, probability, statistics, pattern recognition, and strategies. These questions were applied to Informatics gifted elementary students and, after their education, their computational thinking and problem solving inventory significantly improved.

This study aims to investigate the characteristics, concepts, types, and strategies of unplugged coding for young children based on computing thinking. The key to unplugged coding for young children is computing thinking. Unplugged coding based on computing thinking for young children can be used to solve problems that can be encountered in everyday life through playing games based on logical thinking by positively utilizing algorithm boards, s-blocks, coding robots, and smart devices without using programs And find new ways to play. Types of unplugged coding for young children include direct input to smart devices, using coding robots with dedicated apps, practicing coding procedures using algorithms, and using hybrid methods. Strategies include understanding algorithms, drawing flowcharts, dividing into smaller parts, finding patterns, inserting, and predicting outcomes.
