A Study on the Improvement of Youth Housing Support Policy

  • Purpose: The problem of housing poverty among young people is a very important problem for the nation. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to identify the problems of the government's housing support policy for young people. And it is in presenting specific solutions by fully reflecting the opinions of experts. Research design, data and methodology: This study consisted of analyzing the following three research topics: 1) the differences of youth residential support housing policy impact on young adults' housing stability, 2) the problems and solutions of youth housing support policy, and 3) the differences of experts' opinions on the impact of government policy on youth housing stability. The subject of this study is the government's seven housing policies for young people. The targets include Happy Public Rental Housing (Happiness Housing), Station Area Rental Housing for youth (Station Area 2030), Public Dormitory for College Students (Public Dormitory & Hope Dormitory), Jeonse Rental Housing for College Students (Subject Lease Rental Housing for College Students), Social Housing for Young People, and Share House. The data was organized through expert surveys from 1st to 30th June 2020. The experts surveyed include professors & researchers, public officer & public institutions staff, and private developers of young adults' housing. The methodology of analysis on the problem and the solution of government policy was Frequency analysis. And analysis methods on differences of experts' opinion were ANOVA, Levene' test, and Schefe test. Results: Problems in Government's youth residential support housing policy include high rents, lack of supply, difficulty in acquiring rental housing, inconvenience in using shared spaces, conflicts with cohabitants, and invasion of privacy. Solutions include expanding supply to urban areas, establishing long-term plans, securing privacy, diversifying business methods, establishing platforms for rental housing transactions, and expanding various public support (financial support, etc). Conclusions: There was a difference in perception among groups of experts on the impact of public rental housing (called 'happiness housing') in youth housing stability. It is very urgent to come up with the most reasonable policy to support youth housing. This requires in-depth discussions by experts to narrow their differences.

청년의 물질적 박탈감이 주관적 정신건강에 미치는 영향: 사회적 지지의 조절효과 (The Effects of Material Deprivation on Subjective Mental Health of Youth: Moderating Effects of Social Support)

  • 본 연구는 청년의 물질적 박탈감이 주관적 정신건강에 미치는 영향과 이들 관계에서 사회적 지지의 조절효과를 살펴 볼 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 '2021 청년 사회·경제 실태조사'에 참여한 청년 2,041명의 응답데이터를 활용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계, 상관분석, 조절효과 모형에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 청년의 물질적 박탈감이 주관적 정신건강에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청년의 물질적 박탈감이 주관적 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 사회적 지지가 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 청년의 주관적 정신건강 수준 제고를 위해서는 청년의 물질적 박탈상황을 미연에 방지하기 위한 공공정책 및 제도를 보다 강화할 뿐 아니라 사회적 지지수준을 높여 사회적 지지체계를 강화하는 방안이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

Exploring the Important Factors of Informal Science Education Program of Youth in Poverty: A Case Study of Informal Earth Science Education Program in the U.S.

  • There has been increasing evidence of the positive effects in informal science programs to promote the youths' positive development. However, relatively a small number of informal science programs target specific student populations such as youth in poverty with little research done about the important program factors. This case study presents an exemplary informal science education program (focusing on Earth Science Education or more specifically, water in urban environments) for youth in poverty in a midwest city of the United States. This study explored the most important characteristics of the program that could lead to positive development for the youth. Through a number of observations of the program and interviews with the participants, this study employs inductive and interpretive research methods. Findings show that the program managers' beliefs about the youths' knowledge and experiences, their relationship building skills, and their cooperative work are very important. A concrete mission for the program and structured institutional support to hire the youth as paid museum staff are also important in assuming their responsibility and building identity as an active social member.

소외 청소년들의 책임감 증진을 위한 독서치료 프로그램 사례연구 (A Bibliotherapy Program Case Study for the Responsibility Promotion of Alienated Youth)

  • 우리나라에서는 독서치료를 바탕으로 한 책임감 증진 프로그램 개발 적용에 대한 연구가 부족하다. 특히 소외 청소년을 대상으로 한 프로그램은 전무한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 집단 독서치료 프로그램을 통해 소외 청소년들의 책임감을 증진시켜주는데 있다. 이 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위해 본 연구는 수원청소년문화센터에서 모집한 소외 청소년 11명을 대상으로 2015년 11월부터 12월까지 8회기 동안 책임감 증진을 위한 프로그램을 구안 및 적용하였으며, 이상로 등(1989)이 제작한 표준화 성격진단 검사 중 책임감 척도로 검증을 실시하였다. 결론적으로 본 프로그램은 소외 청소년들의 책임감을 증진시켜주는데 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 소외 청소년을 위한 책임감 증진 프로그램이 교육 현장에서 활용될 수 있는 이론적 근거와 시사점을 제공하며, 이를 토대로 다양한 방법을 심도 있게 확대시켜 나갈 필요가 있을 것이다.

  • Youth will undergo many turning points in their times, and get opportunities to promote their physical, cognitive, social and affective development by participating in various programs. The purpose of this study were to analyze the farming 4-H club member's participation in camping activity and suggest the improving directions for camping programs. This research was carried out by review of literature and survey. The data were collected from 170 youth who participated in the 4-H camping activity in 2002. The major findings of the study were as follows; 1) The prior learning for camping activity affected the level of youth's camping satisfaction. 2) The rural youth expected that the camp fire and recreation program should be further improved. 3) To bring more youth's participation in the camping, time and place should be taken into consideration. 4) The 4-H members who decided to participate in the camping for themselves showed higher satisfaction.

전환기 청소년의 개인특성, 또래애착 및 부모양육행동이 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향: 휴대전화 의존도의 매개효과 검증 (The Effects of Parenting Behaviors, a Youth's Personal Characteristics during a Transition Period, and Peer Attachment, on School Life: Assessing the Mediating Effect of Cell Phone Dependence)

  • This study explores how the main variables of youth going through a transition period (parents' nurturing behavior, the youth's self-esteem and ego resilience, the peer group relationships) affect the youth's school adjustment. It also analyzes the effects of theses variables on the youth's dependence on cell phones, which are considered a necessity in modern society. This research is verified by using a structure model verification method based on data from the Korean Children Youth Panel Study. According to the research, first, 1st-year students in middle school show better adjustment to their school life and less dependence on cell phones when they have a stronger sense of self-esteem and ego resilience; further, it is revealed that cell phone dependence has an indirect influence on the school life of these children. Second, they tend to show better adjustment to their school life and less dependence on cell phones when their parents' nurturing behaviors are more positive. Third, these children tend to depend more on cell phones when they have a positive peer group relationship, Moreover, cell phone dependence has an indirect influence on their school life. When considering the impact of cell phone to youth in modern society, need to prepare proper training program for correct uses and preventing from addiction.

청소년의 가출충동에 영향을 미치는 예측요인 (Predicting Factors on Youth Runaway Impulse)

  • This study is attempted to define risk factor of youth runaway impulse and to structure forecast model through an extensive analysis of the factors influencing the runaway impulse of youth. The subjects were 610 high school students in Seoul and Kyunggido. The collected data was analysed by SAS. The differences between the runaway impulse group and the non-runaway impulse group were subject to chi-square and t-test. Also logistic regression analysis was conducted on the basis of purposeful selection method for constructing the forecast model. The findings are as follows : the major predicting factors of youth runaway impulse are sex(odds ratio=1.886, p=.009), existence of friends of the opposit sex(odds ratio=2.011, p=.007), anti-social personality(odds ratio= 4.953, p=.000), depressive trend(odds ratio= 2.695, p=.000), family structure(odds ratio= 5.381, p=.000), marital relationship(odds ratio =1.893, p=.009) and also between parents and youth(odds ratio=3.877, p=.000), emotional abuse(odds ratio=1.963, p=.003), authoritative controlled rearing(odds ratio=2.135, p=.005) and stress from school(odds ratio=1.924, p=.008). Therefore, the forecast model will be contribute to the nursing intervention for prevention of runaway youth.

An AI-Based Prevention Program to Protect Youth from Cybergrooming

  • The Digital Age calls for improvement of information literacy particularly among children and youth who are vulnerable to cybergrooming. Taking an interdisciplinary approach by leveraging our team's expertise including child and adolescent development, data analytics, and cybersecurity, this study proposes an interactive artificial intelligence (AI)-based preventive simulation program that raises youth knowledge and awareness about the risk of cybergrooming as well as increases resilient self-efficacy in their cybersecurity-relevant skills. The primary purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the simulation program on preventing cybergrooming. More specifically, this study is designed to examine developmental changes in self-efficacy of cybersecurity-relevant skills among youth participants as a function of the preventive simulation program. Further, this study will identify risk and protective factors that explain interindividual differences in the ability of children and youth either to fall victim to advances from a cyber predator or to recognize and deter such threats. The preliminary data will help improve the effectiveness of the preventive simulation program as well as the methods of implementation to large groups of youth. The findings from the proposed study will contribute to making specific recommendations to parents, educators, practitioners, and policy makers for the prevention of cybergrooming.

청소년의 사회관계가 진로발달과 대학생활만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합적 연구 (A Convergent Study Assessing the Effects of Youth's Social Relationships on Career Development and College Life Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 대학 진학 전·후 진로발달과 대학생활 만족도 간의 관계를 확인하고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인으로서 부모, 또래, 교사와의 사회관계에 대해 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원에서 2010년부터 조사한 한국아동·청소년패널 조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey: KCYPS)를 활용하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 진로발달과 대학생활 만족도 간에는 정적인 상관관계를 보였다. 또한, 부모 또는 또래와의 지지적 관계는 고등학생 시기 진로정체감 수준과 이후 대학생활만족에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 그 밖에, 고등학생 시기 교사와 긍정적 관계를 형성한 청소년의 경우 대학 진학 후 진로 결정 수준이 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 개인의 진로발달 수준에 맞는 개별화된 진로교육의 필요성을 시사하였다. 또한, 긍정적인 사회관계를 형성, 유지, 발전시키기 위한 융합적 접근은 청소년의 진로발달에 지속적이고 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다.

청소년활동이 청소년의 개인, 가족, 학교측면 결과에 미치는 영향 - 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로- (The Effect of Youth Activity by Aspects of Individual, Family, and School Life on Youths -Focusing on Mediated Effects of Self-Esteem -)

  • 본 연구는 청소년활동이 청소년의 개인과 가족, 학교측면에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. 더불어 자아존중감을 매개변수로 고려하여 청소년의 건강한 발달에 청소년활동이 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 이를 위해 전라북도지역 중, 고등학교 청소년 1,088명의 자료를 수집하여 최종 1,063명의 자료를 SPSS 19.0과 Amos 18.0을 통해 분석하였다. 분석결과 청소년활동은 청소년의 개인과 가족, 학교차원에 정(+)적인 방향으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 청소년활동은 개인차원에서 자아존중감이 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났으며, 가족과 학교차원에서는 자아존중감이 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 청소년활동이 청소년의 건강한 성장발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 이를 자아존중감이 매개한다는 것을 경험적으로 검증하였다. 결론에서는 분석결과를 기반으로 청소년 활동의 활성화 방안을 위한 실천적 정책적 대안을 제시하였다.
