  • Multi-climbing hydraulic robots are used to lift construction factory (CF) synchronously for applications in the automation of a high-rise building construction. In this study, synchronous motion controller is proposed for the hydraulic robots, whose strategy is not only to make each robot follow the reference path basically by sliding-mode control, but also to synchronize motions of two adjacent cent robots consecutively by cross-coupled control technique. Simulations are performed by using SIMULINK for a system similar to a practical application that includes unbalance in CF and wind disturbance. The results show that the proposed controller significantly reduces synchronous errors, compared to the individual controller for each hydraulic robot.

  • In the present work, vibration control performance of active camera mount system for unmanned aero vehicle (UAV) is evaluated. An active mount featuring inertia type of piezostack actuator is designed and manufactured. Then, vibration control performances are experimentally evaluated. A camera mount system with four active mounts is constructed and mechanical model is established. The governing equation for the camera mount system is obtained and control model is constructed in state space model. Sliding mode controller which has inherent robustness to external disturbance is designed and implemented to the system. Vibration control performances are evaluated at each mount and center of gravity point. Effective vibration performances are obtained and presented in time and frequency domains.

  • Based on the idea that nonlinear PWM controller design can be directly applied to the attitude tracking problem of thruster-controlled spacecraft because it constitutes a sub-class of nonlinear PWM controlled system, nonlinear and output error feedback PWM controlled system is considered to describe the behavior of thruster-controlled spacecraft, and to determine actual thruster on-time which guarantees system stability. A differential geometric approach is utilized to show an asymptotical stability of average PWM system, which finally guarantees the stability of closed loop PWM controlled system. Simulation results show that the motions of PWM controlled system occurs very closely around those of the average model of PWM controlled system.

  • We developed a part of stroke sensing cylinder and its measurement system for system for automatic excavator. In this paper, for development of stroke sensing sylinder, we consist of 2-axis control instrument system with magnetic sensor. A Performence of cylinder rod with magnetic scales is evaluated by its system. Furthmore, the position control for good performance of instrument system is achieved by a sliding mode control which is a new method diminishing the chattering in that control by setting 2-dead band along the swtching line. The unknown parameters for sliding mode control are estimated by the signal compression method.

  • This paper presents control performances of a seat suspension system equipped with magnetorheological (MR) dampers using a new adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller (FSMC). Adaptive fuzzy controller is formulated by considering the acceleration of the seat. It has been demonstrated that the proposed seat suspension system realized by the adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller can provide effective performances such as reduced vibration.

  • A stable TSK-type FLC can be designed by the method of Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC), but in this case, solving the LMI problem is not a trivial task. To overcome such a difficulty, a Time-Delay based FLC (TDFLC) is proposed. TSK-type TDFLC consists of Time-Delay Control (TDC) and Sliding Mode Control (SMC) schemes, which result in a robust controller basaed upon an integral sliding surface.

  • The Sliding Mode Control of Variable Structure System is applied to robot manipulators or servo system for its merits of robustness to variable system parameters and disturbances. But Switching frequency of control input is excessively high during sliding mode operation. In this paper, a new control algorithm usings fuzzy logic is proposed to solve this problem. With the proposed algorithm, a dc motor speed control system has been simulated and the result shows expected performances.

  • This paper deals with an investigation and evaluation of the performance of a state observer based Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive controlled by PI (Proportional Integral), PID (Proportional Integral and Derivative), SMC (sliding mode control), ANN (Artificial neural network) and FLC (Fuzzy logic) speed controllers. A detailed study of the steady state and dynamic performance of estimated speed and angle is given to demonstrate the capability of the controllers.
