  • The amendment to the Higher Education Act enforced on February 20, 2024, abolishing the traditional 2-year pre-med and 4-year medical school programs, marks a significant shift in medical education in Korea. The academic system reform is expected to be a driving force for large-scale curriculum revision, presenting an opportunity to introduce new educational innovations not only in curriculum but also in student assessment and support systems. Addressing these challenges requires collaborative efforts among educators, students, and communities to navigate the evolving landscape of medical education effectively. In this regard, I will illustrate the recruitment and development of educators to implement the reform and the collaboration between communities and medical schools to innovate medical education.

  • The mathematics curriculum revision is currently underway based on the general curriculum revised in 2009. Two of the controversial issues in mathematics curriculum revision are 'grade band' and 'mathematical process'. To consider the introduction of those two aspects in mathematics curriculum, this study compares and analyzes international mathematics curricula focusing on grade band and mathematical process. As a result, grade band is judged to be not necessary, but mathematical process has a potential to provide practical implication for betterment of mathematics textbook and lesson.

  • Increasing the problem solving power in school mathematics is the most important task of mathematics education. It is the ultimate goal of mathematics education to help students develop their thinking and creativity and help solve problems that arise in the real world. In this study, we investigated the contents of problem solving according to mathematics curriculum goals from the first curriculum to current curriculum in Korea. This study analyzed the problem-solving contents of the mathematics textbooks reflecting the achievement criteria of the revised curriculum in 2015. As a result, it was the first curriculum to use the terminology of problem solving in the mathematics goal of Korea's curriculum. Interest in problem solving was most actively pursued in the 6th and 7th curriculum and the 2006 revision curriculum. After that, it was neglected to be reflected in textbooks since the 2009 revision curriculum, We have identified the problems of this problem-solving instruction and suggested improvement direction.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the construct system and revision emphasis of curriculum for early childhood education and care in japan revised in 2017. First, the construct system of the revised early childcare curriculum and kindergarten curriculum of the three institutions in 2017 is different. However, it is more specific according to its characteristics, and the revision focus is given in the same direction. Second, The revised emphasis of the curriculum establish itself with three qualities and abilities that must be nurtured through infancy and clarifies ten childhood images. Also, Emphasis is placed on the establishment of curriculum and management to implement these. Expert review is needed to ensure that the content presented in childhood images is appropriate and does not emphasize the establishment of curriculum and management without ensuring teacher autonomy.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual states of the elementary school and the middle school mathematics education as a curriculum quality-management. To this end, this study surveyed the input, process and output phase in the school curriculum to the teachers, students and parents. The results are like these: First, the achievement standards contents in the elementary school and the middle schools are relevant in the input phase. Second, the teachers in the elementary school have more concern on the teaching & learning methods than those in the middle school in the process phase. Third, students and parents' satisfaction on the cognitive and affective domain in the elementary school is higher than that in the middle school in the output phase. This study suggests that these result has to be affected to make ways to apply the new curriculum, and the curriculum revision system has to be established to revise the curriculum as an important method of quality management.

  • The curriculum localization policy is closely related to the decentralization and autonomy policy, which is a direction of the 2022 revised curriculum. In particular, considering the continuously expanding and changing environment and contents in science education, the localization of the science curriculum has the advantage of advancing to expertise through diversity. In this paper, through experts' perception of the science curriculum localization policy, the implications of the curriculum revision were confirmed, focusing on 'MPOE(Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education) curriculum arrangement and implementation guidelines(hereinafter referred to as 'guidelines')' and the achievement standards revision of science curriculum. In conclusion, study participants considered that the possibility of expanding the localization of the curriculum was high due to the unique characteristics of science practices. And they recognized the level of localization at the 'district office of education or village'-level between MPOE-level and school-level. When localization reaches the school-level in the future, it was considered necessary to discuss linkage with teacher policies such as teacher's competency, noting that the level of teachers could become the level of localization. In addition, there was a common perception that in order for the science 'guidelines' to be localized, 17 MPOE must be given the authority to autonomously organize some achievement standards in parallel. It was considered that 'restructuring or slimming of achievement standards' should precede localization of achievement standards in connection with this. On the other hand, it was predicted that the curriculum localization policy would enhance the aspect of diversification and autonomy of the science curriculum, and the establishment of achievement standards was directly related to evaluation, so it recognized the need to refine policies such as new description for evaluation clause in future science 'guidelines'. Finally, considering science and characteristics, it was mentioned that it is necessary to specify regional intensive science education policies in the 'guidelines' themselves beyond the localization of teaching materials.

  • The rapid change of the health and medical environment and the globalization of medicine has driven doctors to converge and analyse of new and up-to-date medical information and decide to what to make decision for diagnosis and treatments in clinical practice. Medical environment goes with the changes with social environment such as rapid increase of aging population, changes of disease pattern, formation of new area of experts except doctors, government intervention for the medical system, medical insurance of the charges of medical treatment, a increased desire for human rights. These trends should be adopted rapidly to the education system for the students of medical school. The learning objectives of the preventive medicine was developed in 1995 and underwent necessary revision of the contents to create the first revision in 2006. However, the required educational contents of health promotion and disease prevention have been changed by the new trends of medical education such as PBL and integrated curriculum and the 2006 revision does not satisfy these needs. We formed a task force which surveyed all the Western and Traditional Korean medical colleges to describe the state of preventive medicine education in Korea, analyzed the changing education demand according to the change of health environment and quantitatively measured the validity and usefulness of each learning objective in the previous curriculum. With these results, for the good education for preventive medicine, each Traditional Korean medicine schools need more preventive medicine faculties and teaching assistants and opening of some required subjects such as Yangsaeng and Qigong. And future studies of the learning process and ongoing development of teaching materials according to the new learning objectives should be undertaken with persistence in order to ensure the progress of preventive medicine education.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the management status of science in senior high schools based on the 2009 Curriculum Revision and the science teachers' perception of the content and a class of science. The way of managing a class was surveyed and discovered that the percentage of more than two teachers giving lessons depending on their major was higher than that of a teacher giving all the lessons. Analysis of teachers' perceptions of the content of science showed that science textbooks reflected the revised science curriculum well. However, teachers thought that the terms and concepts introduced to describe the knowledge of frontier science were so difficult that they feel it's very hard teaching them to the students. Even though science teachers thought that science was mainly focused on cultivating scientific literacy of the students, they assess mostly understanding of science concepts on the students. It means that science teachers stay in line with old position in assessment.
