  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of death perception, terminal care stress, and resilience on the terminal care performance of clinical nurses. Methods: As a correlational study, this study conducted a survey total of 189 nurses working at K university hospital and a P university hospital in B metropolitan city for six months or more. The data was collected from August 20th, 2020 to September 15th, 2020. Data were analyzed using the SPSS, Windows version 25.0, according to the purpose of the analysis by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple linear regression. Results: The factors having effects on the terminal care performance of subjects were resilience, perception of death, and the experience of terminal care education. The total explanatory power of those variables on the terminal care performance was 21.0%. Conclusion: For the improvement of terminal care performance, it would be necessary to develop a systematic and professional terminal care education program that could increase the positive perception of death and resilience, and also include knowledge and skills necessary for terminal care. Also, the efficiency of terminal care performance should be increased through periodic terminal care-related nursing education.

Method: The participants in the study were 764 nurses working at seven medical centers in Youngnam area. The instrument used in this study consisted of 22 items on pain knowledge. The data were collected between March 1 and June 30, 2002 using a self-administered questionnaire. Analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test with the SPSS program. Result: 1) The average score for pain knowledge was 13.63 (total possible score, 22). 2) The highest item with correct response rate for knowledge of fain was identifying 'Tylenol as opioid or non-opioid.' and the lowest was for 'When opioids are used for pain relief for 3-6 months, what percent of patients are likely to develop opioid addiction?' 3) Nurses' knowledge of pain was significantly different according to age (F=7.040, p=.000), education (F=3.385, p=.034) and work career (F=6.101, p=.000). Conclusion: The above findings indicate that it is necessary to develop a comprehensive pain management education program and continuously provide the medical team with new knowledge about pain.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an education program on health promotion behavior for students with hearing impairments. Method: For this study a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The three components of the study were: 1) the recognition of the importance of health promotion behavior, 2) formation of supportive networks, and 3) practice of health promotion behavior. The study population consisted of 38 students with hearing impairments (experimental group [19], control group [19]). The program was provided to students in the experimental group for 50-120 minutes, once a week for 3 weeks. Descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, t-test, Fisher's exact test, and ANCOVA were used to analyze the data. Results: Perceived social support and health promotion behavior, but not self efficacy, were significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: The result of this study indicate that this education program for health promotion behavior was effective for promoting perceived social support and health promotion behavior in students with hearing impairments, but further continuous research is needed to identify effective interventions to promote health behavior in students with hearing impairments and to allow for generalization of the results of this study.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of career decision self-efficacy on major satisfaction among nursing students, and to examine the moderating effect of professor-student interaction on career decision self-efficacy and major satisfaction. Methods: This study analyzed the data of 307 students among fourth-year university nursing students in A and C cities from May 2017 to July 2017 using the SPSS 24.0 statistics program. Results: There were significantly positive relationships between career decision self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and professor-student interaction. The professor-student interaction showed moderating effects in the relationship between career decision self-efficacy and major satisfaction, with 52.7% of explanatory power. Conclusion: This finding suggests the importance of career decision self-efficacy and the moderating effects of professor-student interaction to increase nursing students' satisfaction in their major. Therefore, it is necessary to make diverse efforts in the field of education to improve students' career decision self-efficacy and professor-student interaction.

The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient with SPSS Programs. Result : The result of this study were as follows : 1. The total mean score of critical thinking dispositions in the nursing students was moderately(3.50). There was a statistically significant difference in critical thinking disposition according to satisfaction with the nursing major(F=5.563, p=.005). 2. The total mean score of clinical competency in the nursing students was slightly high(3.37). There was a statistically significant difference in clinical competency according to adaptation with the nursing major(F=5.202, p=.007), satisfaction with clinical practice(F=3.172, p=.045). 3. A significant positive correlation between critical thinking disposition and clinical competency was founded(r= .421, p<.000). Conclusion : In conclusion, this study revealed that critical thinking disposition influences clinical competence. Therefore, the finding of this study may provide significant basic data for nursing education and nursing practice.

Method: Four hundred forty seven nursing students at 6 universities in D-city participated in this study. Data collection was conducted from March to April 2011. Students' awareness and performance on standard precautions of infection control in hospitals were measured using the modified 2007 CDC standard precautions guidelines. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program, descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA. Results: The level of students' awareness in the standard precautions was higher than performance. The higher levels of students' awareness and performance on standard precautions included patient care equipment, safe injection practices, and worker safety. The lower levels of students' awareness and performance on standard precautions included hand hygiene and personal protective equipment. There was no difference in the students' awareness and performance of standard precautions according to their characteristics. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, hand hygiene and personal protective equipment need to be stressed more within the program to improve nursing students' infection control techniques.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the nursing students' clinical judgment skills in simulation using Tanner's Clinical Judgment Model. Method: Forty-five teams of a total 93 nursing students participated in a post-operative patient care scenario using human patient simulator. Data were collected from students' responses in scenario and guided reflective journaling according to the framework of Tanner's model which comprised noticing, interpreting, responding, and reflecting on response. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The students' responses of the situation were in accordance with the goals of scenario, i.e. relieving patient' pain and preventing pulmonary complications. However, most of students needed clinical cues and focused on a given clue to solve the issues. They were lack of ability to collect additional information as well as connect the relevant clues in simulated clinical situation. Conclusion: The nursing students have difficulty in what they notice, how they interpret finding, and respond appropriately to the situation. The simulation training using Tanner's model could provide faculty and nursing students with an effective teaching and learning strategy to develop the clinical judgment skills.
