A Study on Difference of Teacher-Child Interaction in Relation to Professionalism Awareness Level and Sensitivity Level of Early Childhood Teacher's : With a Focus on 3~5 year old Homeroom Teacher's (유아교사의 전문성 인식 수준 및 민감성 수준에 따른 교사-유아 상호작용의 차이 : 만 3~5세 담임교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this research is to reveal the difference of teacher-child interaction in relation to professionalism awareness and sensitivity level of early childhood teachers. To this end, we used professionalism awareness, sensitivity, teacher-child interaction as parameters for 226 early childhood teachers in Jeonbuk province. Here are the results : First, we investigated the difference of professionalism awareness, sensitivity, teacher-child interaction in relation to the background of early childhood teachers, and it differs by the age, career, educational level of the teachers. Second, we made group comparison to see the difference of teacher-child interaction depending on professionalism awareness level of teachers, and teachers with high professionalism awareness showed meaningfully higher emotional, verbal, behavioral interaction level than lower group. Third, we made group comparison to see the difference of teacher-child interaction depending on sensitivity level, and teachers of high sensitivity shows meaningfully higher emotional, verbal interaction than lower group. This result could be potential data to ameliorate the quality of teacher-child interaction, and it implies that the improvement of professionalism and sensitivity level could contribute to professional performance capability of teachers.

Effects of Volunteer Activities and Sense of Community on Nursing Professionalism for Nursing Students (간호대학생의 봉사활동과 공동체의식이 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • Establishing nursing professionalism is important for providing quality nursing care in various clinical settings and adapting to changing roles in a range of situations. The aim of this study was to identify the influence of volunteer activities and sense of community on nursing professionalism for nursing students. A convenience sampling method of 160 students in a nursing department of university in D city was used in June 2019. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows. The nursing professionalism score was above the middle level and differed according to the volunteer motivation and activity continuity significantly. Satisfaction with volunteer activities had a significant positive correlation with a sense of community (r=.47, p<.001), and nursing professionalism had a significant positive correlation with the satisfaction with volunteer activities (r=.51, p<.001). The factors affecting nursing professionalism were a sense of community (p<.001) and satisfaction with volunteer activities (p<.001); this model could explain 37.9% (F=20.38, p<.001). Therefore, nursing students are encouraged to participate voluntarily in a range of activities linked to their field, nurture a sense of community, and develop nursing education programs that help build pride as a nurse and establish nursing professionalism.

Influence of Major Satisfaction, Communication Skills, Image of Nurses on Nursing Professionalism of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 전공만족도, 의사소통능력, 간호사 이미지가 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate major satisfaction, communication skills, image of nurses and nursing professionalism, and to identify the influencing factors on nursing professionalism of nursing students. Data were collected using questionnaires from 214 students who were 3rd years in the nursing university in Gwangju, June 2019. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. The mean scores for the major satisfaction(3.71±0.53), communication skills(3.50±0.38), image of nurses(3.80±0.52), nursing professionalism(3.70±0.56) were above average. It was found that there were significant differences in the nursing professionalism depending on age, motivation for nursing clinical practice. Significant relationships were found among major satisfaction(r=.531, p=.000), communication skills(r=.531, p=.000), image of nurses(r=.836, p=.000) and nursing professionalism in nursing students. The results of stepwise multiple regression indicates that image of nurses(β=.705, p=.000) and communication skill(β=.136, p=.001) and major satisfaction(β=.133, p=.002) and predicts 72.8% in clinical practice competency(F=191.248, p<.001). In conclusion, to enhance nursing professionalism for nursing students, it is necessary to develop and utilize a program that enhances image of nurses, communication skills and major satisfaction.

Moderating and Mediating Effects of Nursing Professionalism between Major Satisfaction and College life Adaptation among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 전공만족도와 대학생활 적응의 관계에서 간호전문직관의 조절 및 매개효과)

  • This study investigated the relationships among major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and college life adaptation of the nursing students in order to present basic data to assist in adaption of college life. The study subjects were 553 nursing students from two universities in K and P cities by self-report questionnaire survey. Data were collected between November 7 and November 25, 2016. The data were analyzed through frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and college life adaptation averaged 3.86(out of 5), 3.97(5), and 3.34(5) respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between major satisfaction and nursing professionalism, college life adaptation on nursing students. In addition, nursing professionalism had moderating(F=8.460, p=.004) and partial mediating (${\beta}=.21$, p<.001) effects between major satisfaction and college life adaptation among nursing students. In conclusion, nursing professionalism is a very important factor in the effects of major satisfaction of nursing students on college life adaptation. Therefore, in order to promote college life adaptation of nursing students, and increase their major satisfaction, it is necessary to develop and apply an educational program that can establish the right nursing professionalism.

The Effects of Nursing College Students' Moral Self, Moral Behavior, Self-Control, Empathy, and Interpersonal Competence on Nursing Professionalism in Age of Convergence (간호대학생의 도덕적자아, 도덕적행동, 자기통제력, 공감, 대인관계능력이 융복합시대의 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting nursing professionalism in students and develop educational programs. Data were collected from 169 students in G-do, from March 15th to April 30th, 2019. Analysis was done using IBM SPSS 21.0 for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression. The subjects' moral self was 3.39, moral behavior was 3.72, self-control was 3.68, empathy was 3.53, interpersonal competence was 3.69, and nursing professionalism was 3.90. Nursing professionalism positively correlated with self-control, empathy, and interpersonal competence. The most important factor affecting nursing professionalism was major satisfaction - 'satisfied' (β=.232, p=.002), followed by empathy (β=.222, p=.003) and interpersonal competence (β=.178, p=.016). The explanatory power was 18.5% (F=13.69, p<.001). Therefore, a program promoting major satisfaction, empathy, and interpersonal competence and a customized program considering personality and department adaptation are needed for establishment and enhancement of nursing professionalism. Utilizing the results of this study as basic data for nursing professionalism enhancement program and study confirming enhancement is expected.

Relationships among Nursing Students' Anxiety, Communication Skills, and Nursing Professionalism about On-campus Clinical Practice due to COVID-19 (코로나 19로 인한 간호대학생의 교내임상실습 불안, 의사소통능력 및 간호전문직관간의 관계)

  • This study was attempted to confirm the correlation between anxiety, communication skills, and nursing professionalism due to the replacement on-campus practice of nursing students due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The subjects of this study were 131 nursing students in 3rd and 4th grade, and data were collected from October 30, 2021 to November 23, 2021. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS Statistics 28.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Person's correlation. As a result of the study, it was found that there was a negative correlation between anxiety and nursing professionalism(r=-.332, p<.001), and there was a positive correlation between communication ability and nursing professionalism (r=.364, p=.000) Based on this study, it is necessary to develop and apply an effective clinical practice education intervention method that can reduce anxiety caused by on-campus practice to enhance nursing professionalism and enhance communication ability. Based on this study, it is necessary to understand the relationship between grade level and nursing professionalism, and to develop and apply an effective anxiety intervention method that can increase nursing professionalism by reducing anxiety caused by on-campus practice.

The Influence of Nursing Professionalism, Communication Competence and Nursing Work Environment of Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Nurse on Person-Centered Care (코로나19 전담병원 간호사의 간호전문직관, 의사소통 능력 및 간호근무환경이 인간중심간호에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was a descriptive research design to identify nursing professionalism, communication competence, and working environment factors of dedicated COVID-19 hospital nurses and investigate factors affecting person-centered care. Methods: Participants were 211 nurses working in one tertiary hospital, two general hospitals, and one dedicated COVID-19 hospital in a metropolitan area. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 software. Results: Person-centered care was statistically significant. It positively correlated with nursing professionalism (r=.57, p<.001), communication competence (r=.56, p<.001), and nursing work environment (r=.60, p<.001). As a result, communication competence (𝛽=0.33, p<.001), hospital type (𝛽=0.25, p<.001), nursing professionalism (𝛽=0.23, p=.002), nursing work environment (𝛽=0.18, p=.006) and clinical career (𝛽=-0.11, p=.045) in that order. The regression model was statistically significant (F=30.467, p<.001) and showed an explanatory power of 49.6%. Conclusion: It is necessary for individuals and hospitals to provide opportunities for nurses to participate in various education and programs to improve person-centered care. This may enable them to enhance their nursing professionalism and communication competence.

Effect of Care Workers' Awareness of Professionalism on the Service Quality (요양보호사의 전문성 인식이 서비스 질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to carry out empirical analysis on the effect of care workers' awareness of professionalism on the service quality, and to provide policy level and action oriented recommendations for the improvement of care workers' awareness of professionalism and service quality based on the key findings. The study targeted care workers who work at the senior citizen care take centers at the S and Y cities in the Jeollanam-do Province, carrying out survey research. A total of 190 questionnaires among the collected questionnaires were used for the analysis. Key research methods included factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistic analysis, correlation analysis, t/F-verification and regression analysis. The following are the results. First, conviction of the care workers' awareness of professionalism towards public service and the empathy of service quality were manifested at the highest level. Second, there was a difference in the service quality according to the care workers' experience. Third, care workers' awareness of professionalism affected service quality while service quality increased as the awareness of professionalism increased. The research results were utilized to recommend the need to develop and to disseminate structured education program for the care workers, to set the guideline for the care workers' employment form and salary, and to develop structure for the care workers' ethics.

Curriculum Components Affecting the Professionalism of Dental Hygienists (치과위생사 전문직업성에 영향을 미치는 교육과정 구성요소)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the curriculum components affecting the professionalism of dental hygienists and to explore what improvements should be done for each of the influential curriculum components to boost the belief and attitude of dental hygienists. The subjects in this study were 934 dental hygiene students, 76 dental hygiene professors, and 285 dental hygienists, on whom a survey was conducted in person, by mail and by e-mail from April 10 to June 12, 2009. The collected data from 1,295 respondents were analyzed. First, overall dental hygiene professionalism was predicted by intellectual development, vocational education, socio-culturalization, ethics and creativity, which were educational objectives of curriculum, and that didn't have a close relationship to interpersonal understanding and selfactualization. Second, overall dental hygienist professionalism was predicted by learning interest, learning possibility and the significance of subjects, which were selection criteria of teaching content, and that wasn't closely linked to the validity of subjects and social significance. Third, overall dental hygienist professionalism was predicted by continuity and integrity, which were organizing principles of teaching content, and that didn't have a strong relationship to sequence. Fourth, overall dental hygienist professionalism was predicted by the content of school evaluation and school evaluation criteria, which were evaluation elements of curriculum, and that wasn't closely linked to the method of school evaluation, the content of the national exam, the criteria of the national exam and the method of the national exam.

An Analysis of Teacher's Perceptions on School Organizational Culture in Secondary School (중등학교 교사의 학교조직문화에 대한 인식 분석)

  • The principal purpose of this study is to analyze school organizational culture in secondary school in Busan. This study measures background variables such as gender, teaching experience, classification of school, grade of school, and scale of school. The results of the study are as follows : First, to see the difference on the perception of organizational culture depending on gender, female teachers have a stronger sense of professionalism, community spirit and consideration than male teachers. Second, to see the difference on the perception of organizational culture in terms of teaching experience, teachers who have more than 21 years of teaching experience have a more positive perception on decision-making and consideration than those who have 11~20 years of teaching experience. Third, to see the difference on the perception of organizational culture according to classification of school, public schools have a more positive perception on every item such as professionalism, decision-making, community spirit, and consideration than private school. Fourth, to see the difference on the perception of organizational culture in terms of classification of schools, secondary schools have a more positive perception on professionalism and community spirit than high schools. Lastly, as it is seen in the difference on the perception of organizational culture depending on scale of school, schools which have 13~35 classes have a more positive perception on professionalism than others.
