  • This paper deals with the designing of instrument for achieving surgical operation in the stomach and gullet using endoscope channel. The method used herein was to provide beads to knot suturing thread automatically. Following design rules were applied : 1) that instrument must be designed to enable surgical operator to stitch successively by only simple handling 2) that instrument must be designed to minimize insertion and extraction of endoscope. The main result from the experiment with animal stomach was that the surgical operation time was reduced and successive suture was available. Considering the requirement of operator‘s highly trained skills and the discomfort of patient in traditional suture process, the proposed design is expected to markedly improve the endoscopic suturing performance.

A QUALITATIVE METHOD TO ESTIMATE HSI DISPLAY COMPLEXITY

  • There is mounting evidence that complex computer system displays in control rooms contribute to cognitive complexity and, thus, to the probability of human error. Research shows that reaction time increases and response accuracy decreases as the number of elements in the display screen increase. However, in terms of supporting the control room operator, approaches focusing on addressing display complexity solely in terms of information density and its location and patterning, will fall short of delivering a properly designed interface. This paper argues that information complexity and semantic complexity are mandatory components when considering display complexity and that the addition of these concepts assists in understanding and resolving differences between designers and the preferences and performance of operators. This paper concludes that a number of simplified methods, when combined, can be used to estimate the impact that a particular display may have on the operator's ability to perform a function accurately and effectively. We present a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach and a method for complexity estimation.

Skeleton 정보와 LSTM을 이용한 작업자 동작인식 (Motion Recognition of Workers using Skeleton and LSTM)

  • In the manufacturing environment, research to minimize robot collisions with human beings have been widespread, but in order to interact with robots, it is important to precisely recognize and predict human actions. In this research, after enhancing performance by applying group normalization to the Hourglass model to detect the operator motion, the skeleton was estimated and data were created using this model. And then, three types of operator's movements were recognized using LSTM. As results of the experiment, the accuracy was enhanced by 1% using group normalization, and the recognition accuracy was 99.6%.

  • Nowadays, due to development of automatic control devices and various sensors, one operator can freely handle several remote plants and processes. Automatic diagnosis and warning systems have been adopted in various fields, in order to prepare an operator's absence for patrolling plants. In this paper, a Bayesian networks based on-line diagnosis system is proposed for a wastewater treatment process. Especially, the suggested system is included learning structure, which can continuosly update conditional probabilities in the networks. To evaluate performance of proposed model, we made a lab-scale five-stage step-feed enhanced biological phosphorous removal process plant and applied on-line diagnosis system to this plant in the summer.

산업용 로봇 작업장 안전시스템 개발에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Industrial Robot Workplace Safety System)

  • As the importance of artificial intelligence grows rapidly and emerges as a leader in technology, it is becoming an important variable in the next-generation industrial system along with the robot industry. In this study, a safety system was developed using deep learning technology to provide worker safety in a robot workplace environment. The implemented safety system has multiple cameras installed with various viewing directions to avoid blind spots caused by interference. Workers in various scenario situations were detected, and appropriate robot response scenarios were implemented according to the worker's risk level through IO communication. For human detection, the YOLO algorithm, which is widely used in object detection, was used, and a separate robot class was added and learned to compensate for the problem of misrecognizing the robot as a human. The performance of the implemented system was evaluated by operator detection performance by applying various operator scenarios, and it was confirmed that the safety system operated stably.

근전도센서를 이용한 ROS기반의 산업용 로봇 원격제어 (Teleoperation Control of ROS-based Industrial Robot Using EMG Signals)

  • This paper introduces a method to control an industrial robot arm to imitate the movement of the human arm and hand using electromyography (EMG) signals. The proposed method is implemented on the UR3 robot that is a popular industrial robot and a MYO armband that measure the EMG signals generated by human muscles. The communications for the UR3 robot and the MYO armband are integrated in the robot operating system (ROS) that is a middle-ware to develop robot systems easily. The movement of the human arm and hand is detected by the MYO armband, which is utilized to recognize and to estimate the speed of the movement of the operator's arm and the motion of the operator's hand. The proposed system can be easily used when human's detailed movement is required in the environment where human can't work. An experiments have been conducted to verify the performance of the proposed method using the teleoperation of the UR3 robot.

Integer-Valued HAR(p) model with Poisson distribution for forecasting IPO volumes

  • In this paper, we develop a new time series model for predicting IPO (initial public offering) data with non-negative integer value. The proposed model is based on integer-valued autoregressive (INAR) model with a Poisson thinning operator. Just as the heterogeneous autoregressive (HAR) model with daily, weekly and monthly averages in a form of cascade, the integer-valued heterogeneous autoregressive (INHAR) model is considered to reflect efficiently the long memory. The parameters of the INHAR model are estimated using the conditional least squares estimate and Yule-Walker estimate. Through simulations, bias and standard error are calculated to compare the performance of the estimates. Effects of model fitting to the Korea's IPO are evaluated using performance measures such as mean square error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) etc. The results show that INHAR model provides better performance than traditional INAR model. The empirical analysis of the Korea's IPO indicates that our proposed model is efficient in forecasting monthly IPO volumes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce the new products for replacing on the old technical cooperation products which have 24 kinds of industrial inverter model. The core algorithm for vector control and sensorless control and the operation program for LCD operator have been developed. Through the continuous test, the improvement of speed/torque control performance and the control program for special target loads will be performed.

A Study on Ecological Interface Design for Navy Ship's Radar Display

  • Objective: The aim of this study is developing the navigation radar display of navy ship with ecological interface design (EID) framework. Background: Navy ship radar operator must perform navigation support tasks by monitoring the complex and diverse information presented on the radar display. Current radar display is limited in effective navigation aid and response to an unusual state immediately. It is necessary to develop an effective radar display. Method: Ten navy radar operators performed a series of trials in a low-fidelity radar simulation in which they attempted to solve the problems of current navigation situation. Results: The result demonstrated that the ecological interface's performance was better than the existing radar display on performance time and subjective mental workload. Conclusion: This study expand EID study field to navy ship radar display and confirm ecological display is better than existing radar display in performance time, subjective mental work load. Application: The result of this study may help to improve navy ship navigation radar display currently in use.

장면 텍스트 추출을 위한 캐니 연산자의 적응적 임계값을 이용한 AEMSER (AEMSER Using Adaptive Threshold Of Canny Operator To Extract Scene Text)

  • 장면 텍스트 추출은 현대 스마트 시대에서 쏟아져 나오는 다양한 영상 기반 응용에 중요한 정보를 제공하기 때문에 중요하다. 기본적인 MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions) 추출 후에 캐니 연산자를 이용하여 경계를 강화시키는 Edge-Enhanced MSER은 텍스트 추출 측면에서 뛰어난 성능을 보인다. 하지만 캐니 연산자의 임계값 설정에 따라 Edge-Enhanced MSER의 결과영상이 다르게 나타나므로 임계값 설정을 계산하는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 캐니 연산자의 임계값을 설정하는 방법 중 히스토그램의 중앙값을 이용하여 경계를 추출하고 이를 Edge-Enhanced MSER에 적용한 AEMSER(Adaptive Edge-enhanced MSER)을 제안한다. 이 방법은 명확한 경계에 대해서만 영역을 추출하기 때문에 기존의 방법보다 더 좋은 결과영상을 얻을 수 있다.
