  • This is a follow up study to develop an education model focused on creativity and character for gifted students in science. The purpose of this study was to explore the effective utilization of the model that was developed by conducting literature review, exploring the direction of science-gifted education through an in-depth interview, and studying science-gifted educational methods by using a Delphi survey. The developed science-gifted education model, termed the Blossom Model, consists of four educational dimensions: leadership, science inquiry, convergence, and problem solving. The education programs using the Blossom Model were developed with four secondary school teachers, and were applied to unit schools' gifted education classes or district education office's gifted education center. After class, the in-depth interviews were conducted with teachers individually, and students' outcomes were collected. So the effective utilization of the model was suggested by analyzing these results.

  • The purpose of the study is to explore the justification and the possibility of convertgent gifted education through science and arts. Because the nature of art make up the base of each discipline and the creative talents in the heart of gifted education can be achieved through arts education. In order to achieve the purpose of these studies, three aspects have been explored. First, the relevance between the ontological nature of arts and gifted education discussed in philosophical and aesthetic point of view was explored. Second, the practical possibility was confirmed through an analysis of previous studies about the science and arts for gifted education. Finally, by looking at today's social and cultural phenomenon and future talent, it was argued that the development of convergent talent must be needed in the future. This paper will be a springboard for follow-up study to prove the feasibility of convergent gifted education through identifying factors in creative thinking process of gifted students in science and arts. And views of convergent gifted education with artistic will be expanded further and newly recognized. In addition to, it is expected that this study will help the establishment and operation Arts Gifted Education Institute in University and Science and Arts Gifted School.

So, the following study suggests multimedia production education as an alternative plan to the current education of elementary Information gifted children which is becoming problematic. Its goal is to produce an educational system which included process-product model which is one of the educational program for gifted children. Especially, an aspect in technical education, common skill of multimedia software and skill of product was tried in due consideration of the property of information gifted children, it was applied for information gifted education institute by a form of remote-education and weekend education. Through this study, multimedia production education was proposed for elementary school IT genius education. By incorporating gifted education model, we tried to work out IT genius education from the gifted program's point of view.

  • This paper is focused on the development of sea wave experimental module for the science gifted students and the potential of its application in high school earth science. Sea wave experimental module for the gifted was characteristics by five phases: Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, and Expansion. Subjects were 16 gifted students, who were 10th graders and have been taught in the adjacent Education Institute for the gifted of Education Districts, Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education The changes of inquiry ability and knowledge achievement were analyzed according to analysis of experimental report and pre-test and post-test. Experimental module for the gifted was very effective on inquiry skills as follows: control of variables, experimental designing, and selecting tools of experimental process. And also it was positively effective on achievement. The result of this study suggested that experimental module for the science gifted should be very meaningfully to improve scientific ability of them, and the development and application of experimental module for the science gifted be needed for them.

  • This study examined the perception of secondary gifted students of a university-affiliated science-gifted education center toward its educational programs. This study surveyed 184 students who are enrolled in the secondary gifted educational programs of a university-affiliated science-gifted education center. The results showed that the students are generally satisfied with the gifted educational programs. The students also said that the programs have provided more knowledge to them and improved their creativity. It is significant to examine how students currently participating in gifted educational programs perceive the programs and how they are influenced by the programs. Therefore, improvements required for the development and operation of future gifted educational programs should be drawn based on the collection of the results of perception surveys from each gifted education center.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare thinking styles between the gifted students in science and invention The subjects were 191 gifted elementary students in science and 182 gifted elementary students in invention, who enrolled in gifted education program. They were given the Thinking Style Inventory (TSI) that standardized Korea version by Yun (1997), which constructed 13 thinking styles of 5 dimensions (functions, forms, levels, scopes, and leanings of the mental self-government). The collected data were analyzed by independent sampling t-test and ANOVA with SPSS. The findings of this study were as follows: the gifted in science prefer executive, oligarchic, and global thinking styles rather than the gifted in invention. Meanwhile, the gifted in invention prefer legislative, judicial, local, and liberal thinking styles rather than the gifted in science. Both of the gifted in science and invention prefer legislative, executive, monarchic, anarchic, external, and liberal thinking styles. There was statistically significant differences between boys and girls in executive, oligarchic, local, and liberal thinking styles of the gifted in science.
