  • The purpose of this study was to clarify variables affecting time management practice and the relationship between the practice and academic achievement of middle school students. Questionnaires including a time management scale were used for this study and the survey data were taken from 352 middle school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The statistical methods for the analysis were frequency, percentage, average, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. The variables affecting student time management were gender, their standard of living, parental educational level and parental occupation. Religion and residential area were indicated as variables affecting several subscales of time management but the academic year of student had no effect on student time management behavior. The relationship between time management and the academic achievement of middle school students was slightly positive. Developing programs for time management in the field of family resource management is also necessary.

  • This study examined the longitudinal relationship between academic achievement and school satisfaction using a data of the Seoul Panel Study of Children(SPSC). Fully autoregressive cross-lagged analysis and multi-group comparison were performed to measure the longitudinal relationship between two constructs as well as differences between poverty and non-poverty groups. The results showed that both academic achievement and school satisfaction were stable over time in non-poverty group. Academic achievement at the 4th grade significantly affected the school satisfaction at the 6th grade and it subsequently affected on the academic achievement at the 8th grade in non-poverty group. In contrast, academic achievement was not consistent over time in poverty group. Only the school satisfaction at the 6th grade affected the academic achievement at the 8th grade. The findings of this study have various practical implication for school interventions. It is more important to keep supporting the children to maintain the level of academic achievement in non-poverty group. While, in poverty group, it is essential to make school satisfaction and academic motivation increase with school attachment programs.

Total 271 responses collected by implementing a questionnaire survey in "S", a four-year private university located in Seoul, were used for the analysis. The validity of the measurement was verified through confirmatory factor analysis and the relationship among the variables was examined through structural model equation, bootstrap and sobel test. The major finding of this study are as follows. First, this study confirmed the causal relationship of self leadership and social support impacting on academic achievement of university students. This result suggests that an integrated approach taking into account both individual and socio environmental factors is necessary to support academic achievement of university students. • This study was conducted to explore self-directed learning, learning flow, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement on nursing students and to investigate the major factors that influence academic achievement. Data were collected from October 15 to 19, 2021, data were analyzed utilizing the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Participants in this study were 145 students of the college in J city. As a result of the study, self-directed learning was 3.67±0.65 points out of 5, learning flow was 3.35±0.76 points out of 5, academic self-efficacy was 3.43±0.94 points out of 5, and academic achievement was 3.85±1.13 points out of 5. The relationships between self-directed learning, learning flow, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement showed significant positive correlations. As a result of multiple regression analysis, factors influencing the academic achievements of nursing students were found to be learning flow and academic self-efficacy. Therefore, in order to increase academic achievement in nursing college students, it is necessary to develop educational programs to increase the academic self-efficacy, and to continuously check the effect.

  • Perceived control and use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has long been known as important aspects of students' achievement. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between adolescents' perceived achievement goals, their Individual ICT use, ICT use for government-sponsored educational programs on television or the Internet, academic achievement and the attitude toward learning. Most previous research has employed cross-sectional data analysis using relatively small samples. For this purpose, this study used the datasets of the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study (SELS 2011) from Seoul Educational Research & Information Institute. We analyzed structural equation modeling (SEM) a nationally represented sample (4,346 eighth-grade students). The results of this study showed that students' perceived achievement goals had a positive relationship with their individual ICT use, and their use of ICT programs for government-sponsored educational programs on television or the Internet. Also, students' individual ICT use had a positive relationship with their achievement, but ICT use for government-sponsored educational programs on television or the Internet did not have a significant relationship with their achievement. That is, students' individual ICT use mediated the relationship between their perceived goals and academic achievement. In addition, results indicated that students' individual ICT use and ICT use for government-sponsored educational programs on television or the Internet had a positive relationship with their attitude toward learning. That is, both students' individual ICT use and ICT use for government-sponsored educational programs on television or the Internet mediated the relationship between their perceived goals and their attitude toward learning.

For this study, Elliot & Church's Achievement Goal and GPA were used. The achievement goal was subdivided into the mastery goal, the performance approach goal, and the performance avoidance goal. The GPA from the previous semester was used. The results of this study were as follows. Female students received higher grades on all of the Achievement Goals than male. The results of the performance approach goal decreased as the students' class seniority increased. The performance approach goal showed academic achievement correlated positively with performance approach, but correlated negatively with the performance avoidance goal. The negative achievement goal got lower as the seniority of students increased. On the basis of these results, an educational approach is necessary for the positive achievement goal where an understanding of the students' individual characteristics are account for in the achievement goal.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationships between the perceived and actual achievement on skill performance assessment and identify the relation to learning motivation factors. Methods: A total of 80 senior nursing students currently studying at a university participated in the study in 2015. Students completed a performance examination of 20 nursing skills at the end of their 7-week training period; their performance was rated using checklists. Students then completed a survey, which included questions about learning motivation and perceived achievement level. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: There was a weak correlation between perceived and actual achievement. Intrinsic and extrinsic goal-orientation and self-efficacy in learning motivation factors was significantly correlated to perceived achievement. Perceived achievement and self-efficacy in middle quartile of actual achievement were higher than other upper- or lower-quartile group. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the motivation factors of learners should be taken into account to maximize academic achievement in nursing skills training. In addition, it should be considered a strategy to reduce the gap between perceived and actual achievement.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the impact of motivation on academic achievement and satisfaction of adult learners in an e-Learning environment, and to come up with strategies to improve the effectiveness of e-Learning for adult learners. In order to find answer, devices were developed, tested for validity and reliability, and use for testing variables for 289 adult learners. To measure the impact of achievement motivation on learning in job training, a multiple regression analysis was performed. The analysis results show that achievement motivation has an impact on academic achievement with significance level .001, but does not have an impact on a learner's satisfaction. Further analyses on the subcategories of achievement motivation show that individual-oriented motivation affects achievement with significance level of .001, while social-oriented motivation does not. From this finding, some strategies to boost individual-oriented motivation are suggested to enhance effectiveness of job training in e-Learning environment. Further strategies to boost individual-oriented motivation should be developed by studying various aspects of e-Learning such as learning environments, learning culture, learning modes and methods, and evaluation.

CALSIU(The Cognitive & Affective Learning Style Inventory for University School Students) by Kim, E. J. was modified for applying to university students and performed with 399 university students from three universities in Daejeon and Chungnam. Statistical analysis done in this study were ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Findings of the study are as follows : First, the students with high academic achievements have intuitive perception type, whole processing type, and deep storage & recall type. Secondly, the students with low academic achievement have strong non-academic learning type. Third, interaction attitude of affective learning styles is the important element to determine their academic achievement. The students with independent type get high academic achievements. Therefore, instructor should consider the learning styles of students, and it should be used to improve their teaching & learning strategy for better academic achievements of university students.
