Outcomes of active learning methods in an electrocardiography course; identifying the effects of flipped, case-based, and team-based learning (액티브 러닝 학습방법을 활용한 심전도 개론 및 실습 교과과정의 학습효과와 만족도 조사)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to introduce active learning methods, including flipped, case-based, and team-based learning in an electrocardiography (ECG) course and to investigate outcomes and satisfaction with these methods. Methods: To identify the learning effect of active learning, pre-and post-academic self-efficacy was compared between the experimental and control groups. In the experimental group, pre-and post-knowledge and clinical performance regarding ECG were also assessed. In addition, class satisfaction was investigated after application of active learning methods in the experimental group. Data were collected from 84 paramedic students and analyzed using SPSS 22.0 (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement in post-academic self-efficacy and knowledge. The experimental group also showed high clinical performance (9.83 out of 10 in ECG checking ability and 9.63 out of 10 in ECG reading ability). The mean satisfaction score was 4.23 out of 5 (responses based on a Likert scale) in the experimental group. Conclusion: Active learning in an ECG course was found to be highly effective and satisfactory. Furthermore, paramedic students can enhance their accountability and judgement with team-based learning through free engagement in discussion.

Investigation on the Correlations between Team Cognition and Team Process as well as Team Performance in E-Iearning based Team Learning Environment (이러닝 기반 팀 학습환경에서 팀인지와 팀 활동과정, 팀성과 간 상관관계 탐색)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the correlations between team cognition and team process and team performance in e-learning based team learning environment. 55 graduate students consisting of 11 teams participated in the study voluntarily during the spring semester. In the result, it was found that team cognition had no relationship with team process and performance although sub-variables of team cognition and team process as well as team performance had a significant relation with each other. Some further research issues were addressed in terms of team leadership and potential variables affecting each variables.

  • Because it is difficult to respond to a constantly changing environment with individual ability and creativity alone, many organizations are forming teams and seeking ways to make the teams more active. Team learning behavior allows team members to and create better performance based on such accumulated knowledge and experience within a team. In particular, the process of team learning not only explicit and formalized knowledge but also implicit and informal experiences is important from the perspective of knowledge management. However, there were limitations in utilizing research results on team learning behavior because the concepts were fragmented and the measurements were different for each researcher. In this study, an integrated model was presented by examining concepts related to team learning behaviors. Moreover, the measurement model of team learning behaviors was validated for the Korean context. The measurement model consisted of five factors: sharing and elaboration, constructive conflict, team reflection, team activity, and storage and utilization. This tool was confirmed through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The results of this study are expected to have implications for team researchers and practitioners who diagnose and improve the level of team learning behavior within an organization.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out what kind of experience and effect the learner - centered team - based learning (tbl)method has on pre - nursing learner's nursing English course. Participants were 12 preliminary nursing learner, it was analyzed through learning result recording, study observation, learning satisfaction, learner's report, peer evaluation. And described the meaning of the learning experience, individual and team scores were analyzed using frequency analysis, paired-t test. The results showed that the score of each team was higher than the score of individual in both. The tbl experience has been a form of intimacy with colleagues, a motivation for learning, self-study, easy to learn the medical terminology felt through repeated learning, to improve their score by having them secondary group test and they remembered it as a pleasant learning time.

The mediating effect of team efficacy between interpersonal competence and perceived learning in project learning: Focusing on pre-service early childhood teachers (프로젝트 학습에서 대인관계 유능성 및 인지된 성취감의 관계에 대한 팀효능감의 매개효과 : 예비 유아교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effect of team efficacy between interpersonal competence and perceived learning in project learning for pre-service early childhood teachers. Based on a literature review, team efficacy and interpersonal competence were identified as variables having an effect on project learning. The data were collected from 172 students who participated in a project learning course offered by a university located in Seoul, Korea, and were analyzed by Baron & Kenny's (1986) framework. As a result, team efficacy was found to act as a partial mediator between the two variables, understanding of and consideration for other people and perceived learning. This study suggests that team efficacy and understanding of and consideration for other people should be facilitated in project learning courses. The possibility that some teaching strategies could enhance the project learning effect for learners and pre-service teachers is discussed.

  • Since 2010, the universities in Korea have been faced severe difficulties on the selection of students and on the delivery of high quality education services, as the number of students is reduced and the college entrance rate is declined. To solve these problems, the universities have introduced the various and professional education services such as team-based projects, case study, e-learning, action learning, etc. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of team-based project learning on the student's satisfaction in business education. The 4 factors(team cohesiveness, teamwork, team performance and goal achievement) are measured by using questionnaire survey and data are collected from 134 students(34 teams) for 4 subjects. The results show that the structure of team cohesiveness${\rightarrow}$teamwork${\rightarrow}$student's satisfaction is statistically significant, and that team performance and goal achievement are not significant. The student's satisfaction in team-based project learning would highly be related with team cohesiveness.

A Win/Lose prediction model of Korean professional baseball using machine learning technique

  • In this paper, we propose a new model for predicting effective Win/Loss in professional baseball game in Korea using machine learning technique. we used basic baseball data and Sabermetrics data, which are highly correlated with score to predict and we used the deep learning technique to learn based on supervised learning. The Drop-Out algorithm and the ReLu activation function In the trained neural network, the expected odds was calculated using the predictions of the team's expected scores and expected loss. The team with the higher expected rate of victory was predicted as the winning team. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model, we compared the actual percentage of win, pythagorean expectation, and win percentage of the proposed model.

Effects of Role Differentiation, Interaction, and Lapse of the Time on Shared Mental Models in e-Learning Contents Development Teams in Korea

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the cognitive mechanism of e-Learning contents development projects on the basis of the Shared Mental Model theory perspective. To pursue the purpose, a theoretical model and several hypotheses were developed based on relevant literature. Thirty five (35) e-Learning contents development teams composed of 202 instructional designers from for-profit professional e-Learning companies in Korea were participated in this study. For the analyses of the fit of the Model and parameter estimations, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method was employed. As hypothesized, e-Learning contents development team members' interaction leads to higher SMMs which in turn facilitate member satisfaction within the team. Meanwhile, the frequency of interaction among team members decreases as projects progress.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest strategies of team project based learning for undergraduate students by exploring the effects of perceived usefulness on satisfaction in team project-based learning. Also, this study investigated the effects of autonomy support, self-efficacy for group work, and perceived interaction on perceived usefulness. The findings of this study revealed that perceived usefulness affects satisfaction in team project-based learning. Moreover, the results showed that autonomy support and self-efficacy for group work influence perceived usefulness. The findings of this study imply that perceived usefulness is critical team project-based learning is critical to successful learning. Additionally, autonomy support and self-efficacy for group work enables users to perceive usefulness in team project-based learning.
