The purpose of this study is to analyze the current evaluation methods on faculty performance at Korean engineering colleges and develop teaching evaluation indicators for faculty performance. We investigated the faculty performance cases in engineering colleges inside and outside of the Korea, the engineering faculty's awareness of evaluation factors for their educational performance, and the appropriate ratios by indicating factors. Also we developed evaluation indicators for educational achievements to improve the current faculty performance system. 227 engineering faculty members answered our survey questionnaire. The result in the case study on faculty performance evaluation is as follows. First, most items of faculty performance evaluation are about quantitative indicators that can easily conduct objective evaluation. Second, evaluation items of faculty performance are mostly focused on instruction in a classroom. Third, the evaluation by students and administrative managers is more dominant than that by professors or their colleagues, document evaluation than on site evaluation, general evaluation than formative evaluation, and static evaluation than dynamic evaluation. Lastly, Some universities tend to substitute outstanding articles for underperforming instruction. The evaluation indicators that we have developed can be implemented by four types of subjects, such as students, professors, their colleagues, and deans. Also, based on the evaluation indicators, faculties can freely select their evaluation domains depending on the their tracks, such as a teaching track, a research track, or an industry-university cooperation track. The mandatory evaluation fields include teaching, student counselling, teaching portfolio evaluation by mentors or colleagues, class management evaluation by deans, and self-evaluation. The other areas are optional and professors can choose their evaluation factors.
The objective of this study was to propse the way that could enlarge the course In life for the graduates of Department of Food and Nutrition in Junior College. This study was carried out through the analysis of statistical data and questionnaires gathered from professors of Department of Food and Nutrition in Junior College and from dieticians of industry, school and hospital. The results of this study could be summarized as follows. 1. The cultivation number of dieticians is too excessive in comparison with the need, and so It is necessary for the colleges to restrict the row establishment of Department of Food and Nutrition for a time, and for the government to tighten the employment system of dieticians. 2. The employment of dieticians will be extended to such fields as school, hospital public health center and counsel office of nutrition to act as a nutritional educator or a medical server in the future, and consequently the colleges which cultivate dieticians should improve the curriculum to agree with this. 3. It is necessary for the government to renovate the system of dietician arrangement to such a way as establishes a new rule in which additional dietician Should be employed In accordance with the feeding number in industry and hospital, as restricts the position-combine of a dietician with a cook in a large feeding institute, as gives the qualification of a nutritional instructor only to the diatician at public health center, as gives the qualification of a nutrition -teacher to the dieticians who completed the course of study for the teaching profession and then allows them to act as a nutrition-teacher in school. 4. The way to give a higher grade of educational opportunity should be given to the graduates of Department of Food and Nutrition in Junior College for the supplement of dietician's faculty.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore daycare-center director's perceptons of recruitment and to understand how hire beginning teachers. Methods: One hundred twenty-five directors of daycare-centers in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do Province answered a questionnaire that was developed by researchers. The results were analyzed by frequency analysis, descriptive statistics and multiple response analysis through SPSS 18.0. Furthermore, 17 of the directors that participated in the study were given individual interviews by qualitative methods for research. Results: First, 56.8% of the directors felt difficulty to employ beginning teachers because of 'lack of information about them' and 'uncertainty of practice capability.' On the other hand, other directors of daycare-centers said that they hire them for 'high acceptance' and 'operational efficiency of the daycare-center.' Second, the main way to recruit teachers for daycare-centers is open recruitment, and through recommendations of acquaintances or through colleges in relevant fields. Professional talent and personal characteristics were important selection criteria for recruitment, and daycare-center directors used interviews, résumés, cover-letters, and demo classes for the hiring process. Primarily, most directors select candidates through résumés and cover-letters, and the final selection is completed by conducting interviews. Conclusion/Implications: In conclusion, this study can be useful to prepare beginning teachers for employment and for educating applicants.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the perception of a high school teacher on Admission Officer System. The subjects were limited to 324 high school teachers of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do regions. The major research question for the study was how are the perceptions of high school teachers about the Admission Officer System. The main results were as follows: first, high school teachers showed high understanding of the admissions overall. Second, high school teachers with counseling experience about applying to colleges considered the score of the College Scholastic Ability Test less important. Third, high school teachers have recognized that there is a distance between high school education activities and the Admission Officer System. Eliciting sympathy from the high school teachers for the Admission Officer System is a very important task. Negative perceptions of high school teachers on the Admission Officer System is still remained. The cooperation between leading universities and high schools would help the Admission Officer System work with its original purpose or goal.

This study provides basic guidelines to enrich lecture content and teaching methods for university lecturers about basic clothing construction (flat pattern making). The survey was conducted from October $13^{th}$ to December $20^{th}$ 2010 by mail and e-mail on 96 selected clothing departments in Korean universities to investigate the content, method and condition of the course of basic pattern making. A total of 63.3% of survey respondents were PhD graduates, 80 percent majored 'Apparel Science and Technology', average of total teaching experience was 12.84 years and 40 percent had studied abroad. The surveyed universities were 4 year universities (70%), 2-3 year tenure colleges (27%), and Cyber Universities (3%). The average number of students in a class was 28.08 and the lab space and equipment was evaluated positively only when the number of students was 20 or less. The type of measurements for basic pattern drafting were 'individual student's sizes' (62%), 'ready-made clothes sizing system' (25%), 'professor's experiential sizes' (5%), 'dress form sizes' (3%). In addition, the percentage of using 'ready-made clothes sizing system' increased 13% over the previous study (Lee, 2000). At a basic pattern drafting stage, 'the error of body measurements' in the case of using individual student's sizes, 'the poor results of fitting for students who deviate from standard body size' in the case of using ready-made clothes sizing system, 'the lack of education about fitting' in the case of using dress form sizes had been pointed out as shortcomings. A total of 66% of survey respondents carried out muslin fitting; however, a lack of students and teacher feedback about fitting & alteration of paper patterns remained a problem.

The recent increase in preference for teacher jobs has led to a rise in preference for education colleges. Not all students can enter teachers, but they must pass the test called the competitive examination for teacher appointment candidates after graduation. However, due to the declining population, the and employment T.O.s are decreasing every year and the competition rate is rising steeply. Therefore, in order to concentrate on the recruitment exam upon entering the university, the university is becoming a huge academy for the exam, not a place to study and learn. We found a connection between students' overall school life and their use of study groups as well as their grades and whether they passed the competition test for teachers using deep running. The academic activities did not significantly affect the acceptance process, and the accuracy of the prediction of the acceptance rate was generally 70% accurate.

The purpose of this study was to find out how pre-service teachers who have gone through training have thought about teaching practice. Specifically, I analyzed the relationship between college curriculum and teaching practice, and what they had felt in teaching practice. The study included 20 third grade students in teacher's college. The results of this study were as follows: First, it was found that the content knowledge and the pedagogical knowledge of the subjects taught at the university were helpful for the teaching practice. Second, they were thought that teaching practice would be helpful just to watch the class. And pre-service teachers felt that class demonstration was a necessary part of becoming a teacher. Third, pre-service teachers said that it is necessary to have a lecture in the university that can have opportunity for class demonstration for teaching practice. And also they wanted to open a lecture to learn various teaching techniques and the newest teaching methods. Fourth, pre-service teachers said that it is important to form relationships with students in order to complete the lessons through the teaching practice. And they said that they felt that the education scene was more powerful and harder than they thought. In addition, they said that through this exercise, it became a moment to feel the importance of thorough preparation and experience. In this way, teaching practice is an essential process for pre-service teachers to become teachers and it can be seen that they have many influences. Based on these results, it is necessary to review and revise the curriculum of the training colleges in relation to the teaching practice.
The purpose of this study is to analyze some Korean elementary pre-service teachers' Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching(MKT) and compare the results with those obtained by Kwon, Nam, & Kim(2009), so that we can provide some suggestions to improve education of elementary mathematics subject at Korean teachers colleges. For this purpose, we selected the MKT items on number and operations which were adapted for Korean in-service teachers by Kwon et al. The survey consisting of those items was administered to 88 Korean elementary pre-service teachers at teachers college, J University. The results are the following: First, the respondents, elementary pre-service teachers, showed that they already had a sufficient amount of Content Knowledge(CK) on number and operations, but that their level of Knowledge of Content and Students(KCS) was insufficient. This means we need to strengthen our students' KCS in education of elementary mathematics subject at our teachers colleges. Second, there was a strong correlation, in both CK and KCS, of item difficulty felt by the respondents with that by the Kwon et al's in-service teachers. Third, although the respondents valued the MKT items more than the above-mentioned elementary in-service teachers, about 70% of them said the items were never learned at their college. Furthermore, they had different opinions on some of the items from their counterparts'. The suggestions we get here are we need to first consider the results in improving education of elementary mathematics subject at our teachers colleges and second develop MKT items suitable for the situation of Korean schools and curriculums in order to obtain exact estimations of Korean elementary pre-service teachers' MKT.
