Purpose: This study analyzed how the four nurse-related news items 'talent show,' 'neonatal death,' 'nurse's death,' and 'sexual harassment' were portrayed in Korean daily newspaper articles. Methods: A total of 392 newspaper articles published from November 2017 to May 2018 were retrieved through the internet homepages of three newspapers, the Chosun Ilbo, the Dong-a Ilbo, and the JoongAng Ilbo and through a database for 13 other newspapers. Articles were analyzed for their views on nurses and their structural and contextual frames. Results: Articles with the highest frequency of mentioning nurses' death appeared in the JoongAng Ilbo; these were written as straight news articles. In the analyzed articles, nurses were portrayed mostly as victims, troublemakers, passive, or selfish. Articles were written mostly in episodic, incident notice, or attribution of responsibility frames. Conclusion: It was not uncommon to read articles with negative views on nurses; most of these articles focused only the four major incidents as straight news type stories. Future efforts are needed to study the implications of newspaper articles with negative views on nurses and the frames most commonly used.
The phase of science and technology is growing in the national competitiveness. The major countries have a lot of effort being made to expand science and technology capabilities. Acquiring top talents in science and technology is a key pillar of this effort. In this study, we show the needs of businesses and organizations need to look and expect the role of the top talents in science and technology. In addition, we present implications for engineering education and human resources management on the utilization of top talents in science and technology.
Governments around the world are actively establishing strategies and initiatives to spread the use of artificial intelligence (AI), for AI is not a mere new technology, but is an innovative technology that brings about extensive changes in industrial and social structures and is a core engine that will lead the 4th Industrial Revolution. The South Korean government has also been paying attention to AI as a technology and tool for innovative growth, but its application to the industries is still rather sluggish. The government has prepared multifarious AI-related policies with the aim of constructing South Korea as an AI powerhouse, but there is no clear strategy on which detailed policies to implement first and which industries to apply AI preferentially. With these limitations of South Korea's AI policies in mind, this paper analyzed the priorities of industries in AI adoption and the priorities of AI-related national policies, using Delphi-AHP method for 30 top-level AI experts in South Korea. The results of analysis show that AI application is urgent and necessary in the fields of medical/healthcare, public and safety, and manufacturing, which seems to reflect the peak of the COVID-19 crisis in the second half of 2020 at the time of the investigation. And it turns out that policies related to AI talent cultivation, data, and R&D investment are important and urgent above all in order for organizations to apply AI. This suggests that strategies are required to focus limited national resources on these industries and policies first.

In the year 2013, Warren Buffett was named one of the most influential people of the year by TIME magazine. When people are exposed to such news, they show strong interest in who the influential people are and how those people became so successful. Likewise, people show strong attachment to other prominent figures as well. This social phenomenon indicates that people perceive well-known persona like business leaders, TV stars or sports stars etc. as human brands of intangible assets. As the role of these human brands is becoming more important, people tend to develop stronger attachment toward them. Another notable modern social phenomenon is people's pursuit of life-satisfaction and social well-being. People desire to increase their quality of life by having quality time with family and friends, and also by building attachment towards celebrities, sports stars, and so on. The main objective of this study is to examine how attachment toward human brands affects quality of life. While existing studies on human brands examined antecedents of attachment, e.g., some needs fulfillment such as A-R-C needs (autonomy, relatedness and competence needs) fulfillment, this study focuses on the outcome variables of attachment, e.g., how attachment toward human brands affects stress relief and life satisfaction through self-efficacy. Based on previous research, we divided human brands into two types: heroes and celebrities. Heroes are defined as people who have considerable and lasting importance on both societal and individual levels, and celebrities are defined as people who are well-known but have little or no short-term impact on society and individual levels. This study focuses on how attachment toward each type of human brands, celebrities and heroes, affects the quality of life or well-being. This study focuses on three important outcome variables; stress relief, life satisfaction, and self-efficacy, (three variables) which have been recently gaining importance, especially in the domain of positive psychology. Major findings from the present study show that although celebrities draw attachment from people by providing fun and entertainment or providing stress relief, they have weak influences on the wellbeing or efficacy of individuals at a deeper level. In contrast, attachment toward heroes helps people live better by providing meaning and positively influencing life satisfaction through self-efficacy (Frankl 1997). These results are consistent with the main tenet of 'positive psychology' which seeks "to find and nurture genius and talent and to make normal life more fulfilling" (Seligman and Csikszentmihalyi 2000). Considering the fact that certain celebrities are perceived as heroes to some, we can conclude that celebrities can become heroes if they provide meaning and value to the lives of people. This study contributes to the research stream of human brands since the most current leading research (e.g., Thomson 2006) indicated the need to look at the resulting effect of attachment on life satisfaction through self-efficacy. Another important contribution is that we empirically documented the different effects of celebrities and heroes. As expected, this study shows that heroes more deeply influence the lives of individuals in the long term while celebrities do so rather shallowly in the short term. The issues of the influence of heroes on the individuals' lives need to be further investigated in relation with the perspective of positive psychology.

Software education is highly needed to train talent in the fourth industrial age. In order to emphasize the importance of software education. In recognition of the importance of software education, Korea decided to implement 17 hours of software education in elementary school from 2019 in the revised education curriculums in 2015. Because all teachers in elementary school have to be able to teach software, the government is carrying out systematic training for teachers. It is necessary to analyze the curriculum for preparing the software education at the university that educates teachers The results of this study show that subject education curriculums for software education are 1.64 hour in 11 educational universities and contents of education are composed of computer general education. In this software curriculum, it is not possible to educate teachers who can teach software education in universities that educate elementary teachers in Korea. Therefore, in order to develop the ability of preliminary teachers to educate software, curriculum of education college should be conducted for 5 hours or more similar to other subjects, and education content should be composed of teaching and learning methods for software education.

In an ever-tougher competitive environment caused by globalization, domestic companies are increasingly adopting business strategies aimed at continuously securing competitive advantage by taking advantage of globally-competitive foreign professionals. Despite a persistent rise of such trend, domestic researches regard migrant workers as the socially underprivileged, and delve into the issue of migrant workers from the policy, welfare, and ethical perspectives. With a growing need to deal with migrant professionals from the strategic viewpoint - to acquire professional talent in an era of global competition, it becomes essential to verify the real effectiveness of migrant professionals. Yet, there has been relatively little discussion of it. This study assumes that based on th137e integration-learning perspective on diversity, the greater the number of foreign professionals, the greater the effect on organizational innovative performance. Also could be effective in managing diversity is diversity-friendly HRM which involves eliminating discrimination against migrant professional workers and treating them fairly. Based on the data collected from 72 domestic companies, this study conducted an empirical analysis of the impact of the percentage of foreign professionals in the total workforce on organizational innovative performance and of the moderating role of diversity-friendly HRM. The results show that the proportion of foreign professionals in the entire workforce has had no significant impact on organizational innovative performance, and that the proportion of foreign professionals in the total workforce and diversity-friendly HRM have had a interaction effect on organizational innovative performance. Based on these research results, the study attempted to interpret the significance of the proportion that migrant professionals make up of the total workforce and of diversity-friendly HRM in relation to organizational innovative performance, and their implications for diversity management.

Purpose In order for companies to continue to grow, they should properly manage human resources, which are the core of corporate competitiveness. Employee turnover means the loss of talent in the workforce. When an employee voluntarily leaves his or her company, it will lose hiring and training cost and lead to the withdrawal of key personnel and new costs to train a new employee. From an employee's viewpoint, moving to another company is also risky because it can be time consuming and costly. Therefore, in order to reduce the social and economic costs caused by employee turnover, it is necessary to accurately predict employee turnover intention, identify the factors affecting employee turnover, and manage them appropriately in the company. Design/methodology/approach Prior studies have mainly used logistic regression and decision trees, which have explanatory power but poor predictive accuracy. In order to develop a more accurate prediction model, XGBoost is proposed as the classification technique. Then, to compensate for the lack of explainability, SHAP, one of the XAI techniques, is applied. As a result, the prediction accuracy of the proposed model is improved compared to the conventional methods such as LOGIT and Decision Trees. By applying SHAP to the proposed model, the factors affecting the overall employee turnover intention as well as a specific sample's turnover intention are identified. Findings Experimental results show that the prediction accuracy of XGBoost is superior to that of logistic regression and decision trees. Using SHAP, we find that jobseeking, annuity, eng_test, comm_temp, seti_dev, seti_money, equl_ablt, and sati_safe significantly affect overall employee turnover intention. In addition, it is confirmed that the factors affecting an individual's turnover intention are more diverse. Our research findings imply that companies should adopt a personalized approach for each employee in order to effectively prevent his or her turnover.
