Design and Implementation of an SNMP-based Integrated Management System for Efficient Management of Naval Combat System (해상 전투 체계의 효율적 관리를 위한 SNMP 기반의 통합 관리 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • The existing management system of Naval combat system does not provide efficient management methods since an integrating management mechanism does not exist. This paper examines the existing Naval combat system management techniques and summarizes their shortcomings. To solve the drawbacks, we apply the Simple Network Management Protocol(SNMP) mechanism and propose a more efficient management method. Based on SNMP, we analyze the requirements of management system from the perspective of an agent and a manager. We design the management system and also define the management information as SNMP Management Information Base(MIB). We implement a prototype based on our proposed design and verify our prototype by applying the system to the management of selected network devices in a real environment.

  • This paper proposes a frame work for embedded system management. The management system can automatically monitor and maintain the Internet connected embedded-systems such as sensor devices, set-top box, web-pad, information appliances, PDA, etc. Users can easily diagnose system state, resolve system problems, maintain and update applications, and back up user information using the management system. We implement prototype for the management system on embedded Linux system and High -available Linux system.

  • Risk management is an important part of system assurance and it is widely used in safety-related system. Railway signal system is one kind of safety-related system and its most important goal is to guarantee the safety of railway system. The method based on risk management can find and solve the security issues of railway signal system more effectively. This paper introduces the basic conception of risk management, studies the whole process of risk management and related tools and techniques and discusses some key points qualitatively combining with the particularity of railway signal system.

  • In this paper, we designed the security management system based on IEC 62351-7 in the Smart Grid environment. The scope of IEC 62351-7 focuses on network and system management (NSM) of the information infrastructure as well as end-to-end security through abstract NSM data objects for the power system operational environment. However, it does not exist that security management system based on IEC 62351-7 manages the security of the power system in the Smart Grid environment, because power equipment or SNMP agents providing NSM data do not exist yet. Therefore, we implemented the security management system to manage the information infrastructure as reliably as the power system infrastructure is managed. We expect that this system can perform the security management of IEC 61850 based digital substation and can be a prototype of the security system for the Smart Grid in the future.

  • Department of Defense, Republic of Korea has put in significant efforts towards safety over the years by developing defense safety management systems, such as establishing safety management organizations and enacting laws and regulations. Therefore, the number of casualties due to military activities has been reduced dramatically. However, many errors and problems are present in the safety management system (SMS) owing to a lack of proper SMS. That brings inefficiency and discontinuity in SMS. Hence, typical phenomena such as lack of safety management professionals and reactive safety management activities have not been properly corrected. This study reviews various academic papers on the SMS and research reports of major foreign institutions to redefine the concept and components of the defense safety management system to ultimately suggest improvement in the R.O.K defense safety management system. Additionally, the safety management system of the U.S. and British forces, considered to be the leading safety management system, were analyzed and compared to R.O.K defense SMS to derive their implications.

A Study on the Relationships between Organizational Factors and Characteristics of Category Management System in Domestic Retail Industry

  • This study conducted to identify the impact of organizational factors on the characteristics of category management system, market orientation and collaboration orientation, in domestic retail industry, and also to identify the relationship between organizational factors and category management system's characteristics varies depending on the business type, retailer and supplier. To accomplish these research purposes, the study performed statistical analyses using a total of 94 samples. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the organizational factors that affect market orientation of the category management system were found to be information technology infrastructure and organizational management system, and the organizational factors that affect collaborative orientation of the category management system were found to be partnerships and organizational management systems. Second, the relationship between market orientation and collaborative orientation of the category management system does not differ by the business type.

  • In this paper, we studied on the effective structure of an e-Learning Korean Support System for foreigner based on computer systems which is to obey the rules of IMS/AICC International Standard regulations based on LCMS and SCORM. The most important task on this study is to support the function of self-study module through the review of the analysis and results of Korean learning and learning customs. We studied the effective PMS detail modules as well as the Standard Competency Module Management System, which related to LMS/LCMS, Learning an Individual Competency Management System, Competency Registry/Repository System, Knowledge Management System based on Community Competency Module, Education e-survey System and Module learning Support Service System. We suggested one of standard Effective Model of learning Korean Support System which is adopted in a various techniques for foreigner.

  • Configuration management is a process that establishes and maintains consistency of a product with its requirements and configuration information throughout its life cycle. This paper deals with the improvement of configuration management for weapon system. We analyze configuration management system, organization, human resource, regulations, and automated system of USA. Then we apply the ideas to our proposal for the improvement of configuration management. The proposal for the improvement of configuration management consists of three parts. The first one is the improvement of configuration management for weapon system by R&D, the second one is the improvement of configuration management for weapon system by foreign acquisition, and the last one is the improvement of configuration management in the aspects of organization, human resource, regulations, and automated system. This paper will be contributed to the activation of configuration management system and the efficiency of acquisition project management.

  • Purpose This study is based on previous studies related to the function and operating system of the project management system for efficient project management. The purpose of the study is, first, to find out how the project performance is affected by the utilization of the project management system and the involvement of the PMO. Second, the mediating effect of implementing integrated management between the project management system and project performance is to be demonstrated. Design/methodology/approach Based on previous studies related to project management, this study designed a research model by integrating functional factors derived from project management system design studies, integrated management factors, and factors derived from PMO function studies. Findings As a result of the empirical analysis, this study first confirmed that high utilization of the project management system and high involvement of the PMO are factors that affect project performance. In addition, it was confirmed that the establishment of the system and the introduction of PMO do not guarantee project performance. Second, it was confirmed that the execution of integrated management has a mediating effect between the system and the project performance, and that the high utilization of the system has a positive effect on the mediating effect.

  • Organizations worldwide have implemented quality management system, ISO 9001:2000 and environmental management system, ISO 14001:2004. Researches have been conducted regarding occupational health and safety management system, integration of these management systems, and extension to corporate social responsibility and sustain ability management system, ISO 26000. This paper examines quality and environment management systems for machinery and metal companies using audit results. We perform statistical tests to see if there are any significant differences of minor nonconformities for requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 based on implementation motive, operating periods, and organization's size. We also present causes and reasons for statistical differences and minor nonconformities to use as references for implementing efficiently quality management system and environment management system.
