  • The center of the Lie group $SU(n)$ is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_n$. If $d$ divides $n$, the quotient $SU(n)/\mathbb{Z}_d$ is also a Lie group. Such groups are locally isomorphic, and their Weyl groups $W(SU(n)/\mathbb{Z}_d)$ are the symmetric group ${\sum}_n$. However, the integral representations of the Weyl groups are not equivalent. Under the mod $p$ reductions, we consider the structure of invariant rings $H^*(BT^{n-1};\mathbb{F}_p)^W$ for $W=W(SU(n)/\mathbb{Z}_d)$. Particularly, we ask if each of them is a polynomial ring. Our results show some polynomial and non-polynomial cases.

  • Carotenoids, natural antenna pigments in photosynthesis share a symmetric backbone of conjugated polyenes. Contrary to the symmetric and almost planar geometries of carotenoids, excited state structure and dynamics of carotenoids are exceedingly complex. In this paper, recent infrared and visible transient absorption measurements and excitation dependent dynamics of 8'-apo-${\beta}$-caroten-8'-al and 7',7'-dicyano-7'-apo-${\beta}$-carotene will be reviewed. The recent visible transient absorption measurements of 8'-apo-${\beta}$-caroten-8'-al in polar and nonpolar solvents will also be introduced to emphasize the complex excited-state dynamics and unsolved problems in the $S_2$ and $S_1$ excited states.

  • An algorithm to symmetric radius of $15ms^{-1}$ isotaches of tropical cyclones is suggested using infrared (IR) imagery of geostationary satellite. It is assumed that symmetric tangential winds outside the maximum winds exponentially decrease with the radial distances of the tropical cyclone, which has a clear eye-wall structure. Four parameters for estimation of the tropical cyclone size are center location, maximum sustained wind, radius of the maximum wind, and relaxation coefficient for the decreasing rate with distances of the tropical cyclone. The estimation results are limitedly verified as comparing to surface winds of polar orbiting satellite such as ASCAT data.

  • The mechanism of wind-induced ovalling vibrations of cylindrical shells is numerically investigated by using a vortex method. The subject of this paper is limited to a two-dimensional structure in the subcritical regime. The aerodynamic stability of the ovalling vibrations in the second to fourth circumferential modes is discussed, based on the results of a forced-vibration test. In the analysis, two modal configurations are considered; one is symmetric and the other is anti-symmetric with respect to a diameter parallel to the flow direction. The unsteady pressures acting on a vibrating cylinder are simulated and the work done by them for one cycle of a harmonic motion is computed. The effects of a splitter plate on the flow around the cylinder as well as on the aerodynamic stability of the ovalling vibrations are also discussed. The consideration on the mechanism of ovalling vibrations is verified by the results of a free-vibration test.

  • A linear ultrasonic motor was designed by a combination of the longitudinal and bending mode. linear ultrasonic motors are based on an elliptical motion on the surface of elastic body, such as bar or plates. The corresponding eigen-mode of one resonance frequency can be excited twice at the same time with a phase shift of 90 degrees in space and time. That is excite symmetric and anti-symmetric modes. Then it determines the thrust and speed of the motor. Linear ultrasonic motors are investigated experimentally in according to be fabricated a general classification to motor structure and material characteristic. There was the first to simulate as use of finite element analysis ANSYS 9.0. The AL-T2W8-ARM14-LEG18-ANGLE80 motor has a maxim efficiency 18 % under the speed 0.14 m/s, thrust 345 gf and preload 280 gf, operating frequency is 57.6 kHz.

  • Jin [7] defined a new connection on semi-Riemannian manifolds, which is a non-symmetric and non-metric connection. He said that this connection is an (ℓ, m)-type connection. Jin also studied lightlike hypersurfaces of an indefinite trans-Sasakian manifold with an (ℓ, m)-type connection in [7]. We study further the geometry of this subject. In this paper, we study generic lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite trans-Sasakian manifold endowed with an (ℓ, m)-type connection.

  • In this paper a novel converter structure based on cascade converter family is presented. The suggested multilevel advanced cascade converter has benefits such as reduction in number of switches and power losses. Comparison depict that proposed topology has the least number of IGBTs among all multilevel cascade type converters which have been introduced recently. This characteristic causes low cost and small installation area for suggested converter. The number of on state switches in current path is less than conventional topologies and so the output voltage drop and power losses are decreased. Symmetric and asymmetric modes are analyzed and compared with conventional multilevel cascade converter. Simulation and experimental results are presented to illustrate validity, good performance and effectiveness of the proposed configuration. The suggested converter can be applied in medium/high voltage and PV applications.

  • We have simulated a symmetric dual-gate TFT which has triple floating n+ channel to improve the on-current of the dual-gate TFT. We achieved a low hole concentration at the source and channel junction causes the improvement the potential barrier so that we observed the reduction of the kink-effect. In this paper, we observed the reduction of the kink-effect compared with the conventional single-gate TFT and the improvement of the on-current compared with the conventional dual-gate TFT.

  • We demonstrate an ultrathin metamaterial for polarization independent perfect absorption as well as a band-pass filter (BPF) which works at a higher frequency band compared to the perfect absorption band. The planar metamaterial is comprised of three layers, symmetric split ring resonators (SSRRs) at the front and structured ground plane (SGP) at the back separated by a dielectric layer. The perfect metamaterial absorber (MA) can realize near 100% absorption due to high electromagnetic losses from the electric and/or magnetic resonances within a certain frequency band. The thickness of the structure is only 1/28 of the maximum absorption wavelength.

  • Symmetric asymmetric and composite perfluoropolymer membranes made with HYFLON AD have been prepared and evaluated. Porous and non porous symmetric membranes have been prepared by solvent evaporation with various processing conditions. Non-contact atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate the membrane morphology in air. Analysis of the images gave quantitative imformation on the surface pore strcture in particular on the pore size distributin. Possible useful uses of porous membranes are envisaged in the field of gas-liquid separations such as membrane contactors (MSc) Molecular Dynamics(MD) simulations structure of HYFLON AD 60X copolymer supporting these results are also reported. Amorphous perfluoropolymer membranes appears to be ideal other than in MCs when separation processes have to be performed in hostile environments i.e. high temperatures and aggressive non-aqueous media such as chemicals and solvents. In these cases HYFLON AD mem-branes can exploit the outstanding resistance of perfluoropolymers.
