This study carried out a numerical analysis on a heat pump assisted dryer using HFC134a. Under the constant degree of superheat and that of subcooling, we analyzed the performance of heat pump assisted dryer with varying an air mass velocity, bypass air ratio, compressor speed and an inlet bulb temperature of dryer. Simulation results were compared with experimental results, so they were maximally agreed in the range of 10%. There was the proper bypass air ratio with varying an air mass velocity. As for the effect of SMER having the inlet temperature $35^{\circ}C$ and compressor speed 1360rpm, bypass air ratio was 30% at the front velocity 0.5kg/s, 40% at the front velocity 0.7kg/s and 50% at the front velocity 0.9kg/s and 1.1kg/s. As the compressor speed was increased, SMER decreased and COP increased. As the inlet bulb temperature was increased, SMER and COP decreased.
Heat pipes. applied to a flat plate solar collector, have a long and slender configuration with relatively low heat flux in the evaporator section. Such a heat pipe has a tendency to build-up a liquid pool at the lower part of the evaporator section. and at this pool occurs such complicated phenomena of evaporation and fluid dynamics as superheat, sudden generation of bubble, its likely explosive growth process and flooding, etc. In the present study. we tried to solve these problems by means of adjusting two principal design parameters, the liquid inventory and the installation region of the wick, using 4 heat pipes and 3 thermospheres. The corresponding results can be summarized as follows$\^$1)/. The effective thermal conductances of the heat pipe was greatly improved by eliminating the wick in the adiabatic and condenser sections$\^$2)/. The liquid inventory should be increased by about 40% larger than what is saturated the wick$\^$3)/. In the evaporator section the wick has a favorable effect to reduce both unstable operation by intermittent occurrence of nucleate boiling and response time at the initial start-up process.

The ambient temperature of the experimental conditions changes by varying the speed of the compressor and the electronic expansion valve opening. The effects of changing valve opening to the entire system has been investigated. The results show that the ambient temperatures of $35^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ controlled at 30Hz must be avoided. The capacity control range of the control compressor with changing speed is about 43~100% at $35^{\circ}C$, 43~100% at $25^{\circ}C$ and 48~100% at $10^{\circ}C$, respectively. The results show the capacity control range decreases with decreasing ambient temperature.

The purpose of this research was to study the heat transfer characteristics of heat pipe which used non-metallic(SiO$_{2}$), circumferential wick and meshed slab wick as ADI method and experimental results. Compared wick experimental data and results by ADI method showed the good agreement and ADI method was utilized in pridicting the performance of heat pipe. Also, ADI method was applied to predict heat pipe performance according to the various volume ratios of metallic bond. The heat transfer characteristics of heat pipe could be predicted by heat flux and superheat term below the maximum heat flux limit. According to the addition ratio of metallic bond, heat transfer ratio could be improved as 2-3 times and when heat conductivity ratio(K$_{b}$/K$_{a}$) was increased at 4-12 ratio, heat transfer was in creased as 1.7-2.4 times, and the prediction of heat transfer could be show as exponential type. In producting non-metallic wick used to low heat pipe, metallic bond which is the conductivity of good quality and enduring for high temperature will be improved as in important problem.

The study aimed to analyze the status quo of manufacturing work environment and the work clothes' clothing comfort and wearer mobility of welding and grinding work processes in the machine and shipbuilding industries in South Korea. A questionnaire survey was conducted for the study, which consisted of questions about work clothes' clothing comfort and wearer mobility according to body parts. The findings derived from the research were: the high impact levels of work environment factors on welding and grinding work processes were noise, metal fragment, superheat, toxic gas, UV ray factors. Subject workers' assessment of work clothes' clothing pressures were in the levels between 3 (i.e. moderate) and 4 (i.e. comfortable) in a range of 5-point scale. The impact levels of wearer mobility factor were high on the work processes of welding and grinding in machine and grinding in shipbuilding. While welding process in shipbuilding showed a 'moderate' wearer mobility level and this was because its work postures were uncomfortable yet the rate of the motion change was low. The consideration to develop the work clothes specialized for certain work processes should include the materials' protecting performance from the hazardous work environment factors; and work clothes' designs that provides workers with maximized clothing comfort and wearer mobility for bending or tilting postures of upper, lower and lateral body parts defined in the study.
The effect of casting variables for making pure Al and Al-5wt%Si alloy rods free from any surface and inside defects was studied by adopting the horizontal continuous casting method with heated mold. The rods were cast under the casting conditions such as the mold temperature of $670{\sim}690^{\circ}C$, water flow rate of $0.2{\sim}0.6{\ell}/min$, and rod diameter of $4{\sim}8mm$, when the melt temperature and mold to cooler distance was fixed at $700^{\circ}C$ and 20mm, respectively. The results represented that the casting speed for good quality rod increased as the water flow rate increased, whereas, the casting speed decreased as the rod diameter or mold temperature increased. The statistical analysis of $2^3$ factorial design was also applied and the results represented that the averaged optimum casting speed for pure Al(302mm/min) was higher than that of Al-5wt%Si alloy(273mm/min) resulting from the difference of superheat applied. The effect of rod diameter on the optimum casting speed was the highest for pure Al as well as Al-5wt%Si alloy. The effect of water flow rate and mold temperature on the optimum casting speed was in decreasing order.
The previous study was conducted to develop an air source multi heat pump system that could be operated with the solar collector and air source heat exchangers as heat source of the system. There is a winter-sowing problems in air source multi heat pump system when the outdoor temperature goes down under freezing point. The winter-sowing problem was solved by adapting R-22 refrigerant as working fluid in the previous study. However, when the system operated at high temperature, another problems are come out such as overheating of the solar collector outlet which lead to the superheat of the compressor inlet of the heat pump system. The condition could deteriorates a compressor in some case. In this study, we installed the anti-superheating devices on the previously developed system. As results of system performance test, COP of the system with anti-superheating technique is 2.4. It is a little improved COP compare to previous study's 2.23. In the results of multi heat source heating system, during operating solar collector, COP is relatively high between $200\;W/m^2$ and $400\;W/m^2$ solar intensity. It is recommended to extend the study on performance optimization with balancing the solar collect and capacity of compressor at higher solar irradiation conditions.

The aim of this study is to investigate the heat transfer characteristics in the transient cooling process of a high temperature wall. The slow transient cooling experiment was carried out with a copper block of high thermal capacity. The results of these experiments are as follows. 1. Temperature histories measured by the thermocouple, which is 0.99, 2.00, 2.99mm from the heat transfer surface showed monotonous during the cooling process. These variation are the curves of typical temperature histories in film-boiling, transition-boiling, and nucleate-boiling regions. 2. The temperature histories were measured by thermocouple installed in the copper block. The variations of the surface heat fluxes and surface temperature were computed from the numerical solution method TDMA from the measured temperature histories for radial position one dimensional heat transfer inverse problem. The boiling curves were found by the computed temperature histories. 3. The rewetting point which starts to change from film boiling to nucleate boiling is not connected with the mass velocity and it were found that the temperature of rewetting point indicated about $100^{\circ}C$. 4. The heat flux of rewetting point was about $10^5Kcal/m^2h$, at that time, the heat transfer coeficient indicated about $1000Kcal/m^2h^{\circ}C$ irrelevent to mass velocity. 5. The wall superheat decreases as the pressure increases. But I found that rewetting point appeared under higher condition in the wall temperature.

This paper describes behaviors of two-phase open channel flow inside the flash chamber of a horizontal Multi-Stage-Flash evaporator numerically along with the experimental observations. Bubble trajectories and the velocity and temperature distributions of the liquid phase were predicted by using the particle-source-in-cell(PSI-Cell) method with the appropriate bubble motion/growth equations. Size and number of bubble nuclei embedded in the incoming liquid(brine) were taken into account as important parameters in addition to the conventional ones such as the velocity, degree of inlet superheat, inlet opening height, and the liquid level. Bubble motions, which are unsteady, appeared to be mostly determined by the buoyancy and the drag forces. The calculations, though a number of simplifying assumptions were made, reasonably simulated the hydrodynamic behaviors of the two-phase horizontal stream observed in the experiments. The simulated temperature distributions also agreed fairly well with the other's measurements. Non-equilibrium allownaces, evaluated from the simulated temperature distributions, were within the range of those obtained from the existing correlations, and reduced with the increases of the number and size of incoming bubble nuclei due to vigorous flashing.

Thermodynamic performance of eight zeotropic R-22 alternative refrigerant mixtures selected by AREP(R-22 Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program) and R-32/R-125/R-134a(23%/25%/52%), namely R-407C were evaluated by the "drop-in" simulation method. An existing air conditioner was selected and its design data were used for the simulation. "ARI Test A" air conditions were applied. The degree of vapor superheat at the compressor inlet fixed at $5^{\circ}C$ for all the mixtures. The results of the simulation were compared with those of R-22. COPs of all mixtures except for R-32/R-227ea(35%/65%) and R-32/R-125/R-134a(10%/70%/20%), were higher than that of R-22 by 2%~8%, while the capacities were all lower than that of R-22 by 13%~27%. COP of R-32/R-134a(40%/60%) was 2.4% higher but the capacity was 15% lower than those of R-22. In the case of R-32/R-134a(30%/70%), COP and capacity were 5.5% higher and 15% lower than those of R-22, respectively. Among the ternary mixtures, R-407C and R-32/R-125/R-134a(30%/10%/60%) showed the best performance. COP of R-407C was 2.4% higher than those of R-22 but the capacity was 15% lower.
