A study on propagation effect and countermeasure of the harmonics generated in high speed traction (고속전철 차량에서 발생한 고조파 파급영향과 그 대책에 관한 연구)

  • This paper demonstrates an analysis of harmonics at the high speed railway substation and proved on this countermeasure using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation tool. First, high speed railway feeding system is composed using PSCAD/EMTDC electrical railway feeding system model in advance. Second, This paper applications line capacitance values as feeder-trolley, trolley-rail and feeder-rail to analysis harmonics more accuracy in advance did not application. This capacitance values calculate using the EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program). Third, the tractions are arranged in the section that substation supplies power, and this paper take the simulation each case(fractions composition amount) to see harmonic propagation from traction to substation. As a result, generated harmonics at traction can confirmed that harmonics did not reduce at utility source. This harmonics have an influence on bulk power system. Finally, this paper introduces the methods of harmonics effect minimum. This paper proved harmonics reduce effect through the passive filters application.

  • An urban railway power substation consists of three thyristor dual converters. Two converters are connected to up and down trolley line to supply the electric energy or feed the regenerative energy back to the distribution. When the two converters break down, the remaining converter is used in an emergency. One thyristor dual converter system (TDCS) manages the energy of two or three railway stations. If the TDCS fails, the trains stop operating. To solve the problem, this paper proposes the three parallel operation control algorithm of thyristor dual converter system using the emergency converter. The broken TDCS can be replaced by the emergency converter in other TDCS. The effectiveness of this proposed control is verified by simulation.

  • IEC 61850 based substation automation system mainly consists of human machine interface and a various of IEDs in charge of protective and control functions of the substation. Both of them should require the performance verification of IEC 61850 communication services because their communication relation is the same as client and server throughout the digital network. This paper shows a research result on the testing method of basic communication interface of the IEC 61850 based client, which was implemented by the analysis of real communication between HMI and IED of IEC 61850 based substation automation system and refereed to IED IEC 61850 conformance test procedures.

  • IEC 61850 based substation automation system is operating with Generic Object Oriented Substation Event message when an IED need to send an important signal to other IEDs or receive the signals from another IED such as trip and interlock. So interoperability of substation automation system may be assured throughout the verification of IED GOOSE. This paper shows a testing contents for GOOSE subscription and publish of IEC 61850 based IED and describes how to analysis the result of GOOSE testing. Now domestic IED completed by GOOSE test of this study are working in KEPCO test field.

  • With the increase of electric power demand in the downtown area. many problems, such as the difficulty in security of substation site and interference of the electromagnetic wave or damage to person due to outdoor type substation facilities has been occured. Therefore, the compaction of substation facilities is required and the gas insulated switchgear(GIS) has been adopted accordingly. However, much care should be taken of the interface problem between cable and GIS. This paper describes the failure analysis and a countmeasure for prevent ion from failure in the interface.

  • We have carried out the construction of the 154kV intelligent substation with KEPRI. The intelligent substation is built in Gochang testing facility of KEPCO and consists of electronic instruments for GIS(gas insulated switchgear), digital control panel, remote monitoring and diagnosis system, and digital relay system. Rogowski coil type CT(RCT) and capacitive voltage divider(CVD) are introduced compared with the instrument transformer of conventional type. Digital control panel(DCP) replaces the LCP(local control panel) which is drived for mechanical operation. For the monitoring of the condition of GIS and TR, various sensors are used. In this paper, we mention the synopsis and report the progress state of project.

  • UHF method is very effective to diagnosis for partial discharge of GIS. In generally, inner UHF sensor can be attached on sheath cover of GIS under construction for periodic inspection. However, there is no inner UHF sensor for GIS of the domestic substation. We used the outer UHF sensor attached on spacer for GIS of existing substation. In this paper, we report the diagnosis result of partial discharge on 800kV GIS in domestic substation. From these results, we can find the quantity, reason and location of PD and certificate the performance of UHF method for partial discharge diagnosis of GIS.

  • In DC traction substation with 12-pulse diode rectifiers, the DC line voltage tends to rise above noload voltage because it can't absorb the regenerative power caused by electric brakes of train. To solve this problem, an IGBT regenerative inverter should be installed and thus recycles the surplus regenerative power by delivering it to the supply grid. In this paper, the DC traction substation equipped with a IGBT regenerative inverter is studied using computer simulation. Matlab/simulink is used to simulate the operation of regenerative inverter which injects the regenerative power into the supply grid and stabilizes the DC line voltage. It is confirmed that the high quality regenerative power is delivered to the supply grid thorough computer simulation.

  • The main purpose of this study is to analysis of urban MAGLEV vehicle for the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway, in the process of construction at the moment, in Korea. For analysis of urban MAGLEV, we have measurement power a special quality of MAGLEV operating the center science museum in Deajeon. 1) The power property related to urban MAGLEV vehicle demand on the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway track and substation capacity compared to the result given. 2) The optimum design of substation is determined based on the analysis. 3) The equipments of substation are determined based on the analysis. The result of measurement performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the good property, to the power supply design. The result of research performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the Power Supply System design for the stabilized and economized MAGLEV operation.

  • 22.9 kV HTS cable and FCL will be installed in 154 kV Icheon substation. It is necessary to design a protection system of the substation for a successful application of the HTS devices. This paper proposes a new power protection system for the application of 22.9 kV HTS cable and SFCL to 154 kV Icheon substation in Korea.
