  • The projection approximation subspace tracking (PAST) is one of the attractive subspace tracking algorithms, because it estimatesthe signal subspace adaptively and continuously. Furthermore, the computational complexity is relatively low. However, the algorithm still has room for improvement in the subspace estimation accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the subspace estimation accuracy using a normally ordered input vector and a reversely ordered input vector simultaneously.

  • The projection approximation subspace tracking (PAST) is one of the attractive subspace tracking algorithms, because it estimates the signal subspace adaptively and continuously. Furthermore, the computational complexity is relatively low. However, the algorithm still has room for improvement in the subspace estimation accuracy. FE-PAST (Forward-Backward PAST) is one of the results from the improvement studies. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the orthogonality of the FB-PAST (Forward-Backward PAST).

  • In this paper, we propose a correlation-based subspace estimation technique, which is called square-root forward/backward correlation-based projection approximation subspace tracking(SRFB-COPAST). The SRFB-COPAST utilizes the forward and backward correlation matrix as well as square-root recursive matrix update in projection approximation approach to develop the subspace tracking algorithm. With the projection approximation, the square-root recursive FB-COPAST is presented. The proposed algorithm has the better performance than the recently developed COPAST method.

  • This paper considers interference suppression and multipath mitigation in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs). We propose an anti-jam GNSS receiver which suppresses interference and multipath by subspace projection method. The resulting interference suppressed and multipath mitigated signal is then process by a beamformer, whose weight vector maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio of the output signal. The enhanced performance is shown by refined cross correlation and beam pattern.

  • In this paper, we propose a new selective subspace projection method in order to recognize the occlusive face image effectively. The conventional subspace projection method is project to basis image using a full image of face. The face recognition rate has reduced because the face characteristic is easy to be distorted by occlusion. To overcome this problem, the proposed method first decide to occlusion. If it hasn't an occlusion, we get the feature vectors with total basis projection using the conventional subspace projection method. If it has an occlusion, we get one with partial basis projection. We get better recognition rate than conventional PCA and NMF using AR face database with occlusive face images.

  • In this paper, we compare two different anti-jamming schemes, Subspace projection and SCORE algorithm. For multipath cancelation, nulling technique is applied to both anti-jamming schemes. It is noted that SCORE algorithm is more robust to the multipath interference. It is also noted that Subspace projection scheme requires nulling technique for multipath mitigation.

  • For solving symmetric systems of linear equations, it is shown that a new Krylov subspace method can be obtained. The new approach is one of the projection methods, and we call it the projection method for convenience in this paper. The projection method maintains the residual vector like simpler GMRES, symmetric QMR, SYMMLQ, and MINRES. By studying the quasiminimal residual method, we show that an extended projection method and the scaled symmetric QMR method are equivalent.

  • It is shown that a new Krylov subspace method for solving symmetric indefinite systems of linear equations can be obtained. We call the method as the projection method in this paper. The residual vector of the projection method is maintained at each iteration, which may be useful in some applications.
