  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between the characteristics of nurses' work schedules, health outcomes, and work-life balance. Methods: This was a secondary data analysis that included 422 nurses in Korean hospitals. Descriptive analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis were used to identify the associated factors. Results: Multiple linear regression analysis showed that work-life balance was lower when atypical work was performed (β=-.14, p=.010). Nurses who did not work overtime showed a higher level of work-life balance than those who worked overtime infrequently (β=-.11, p=.002) or frequently (β=-.28, p<.001). The work-life balance level increased when nurses had better subjective health status (β=.16, p<.001) or higher sleep quality (β=.29, p<.001). It was verified that the work-life balance level was higher for single-person households than for households with two (β=-.18, p=.003), three to four (β=-.16, p=.022), or five or more (β=-.21, p<.001) persons. Conclusion: This study suggests that government and hospital organizations should provide high-quality care and consideration to nurses who do atypical or overtime work as well as their subjective health status and sleep quality. Further research should focus on the development of a policy that improves the work-life balance of nurses, especially for those who work during atypical hours.

This study was based on the survey data from the 90 aged, who are over sity years old and resident in Seoul. In order to measure the general characteristics and subjective audition, Cantril's Ladder Scale Tool was used. For the loneliness, UCLA Loneliness Scale Tool (translated into Korean to suit the Korean environment by Kim's). In order to measure the self-esteem, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Measurement Tool (translated into Korean by Chun) was used. No's Quality of Life Measurement Tool was used to the measure the quality of life. In accordance with each purpose of this study, appropriate analyzing methods such as Descriptive Statistics, T-test, and ANOVA were used in analyzing the collected data. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to test the relationship of the loneliness, self-esteem and quality of life on the hearing disturbance aged. The result of this study is as follows: 1) The average of the degrees of subjective audition was 7.22, The factors that cause the result were sex, religion, the perception of health, the married state. 2) The average of the degrees of loneliness was 55.18, The factor that cause the result was the perception of health. 3) The average of the degrees of self-esteem was 28.42, The factors that cause the result were the number of family, the number of children, the perception of health. 4) The average of the degrees of quality of life was 71.87 the factors that cause the result were age, education, the number of children, the perception of health. 5) Correlation of Loneliness, self-esteem and quality of life is the perception of loneliness showed significant negative correlation with self-esteem (r=-.466, p=.0001) and quality of life (r=-.450, p=.0001). As a result of analysis above: Because of the recognition change of the aged, it seems to them that the subjective audition scale on the hearing disturbance aged is measured by only 10-point ladder scale is inappropriate. Therefore, it is necessary that the physiologic-index can confirm more exactly should be applied to them. It is very important that the social-psychological factor that has influence on the aged should be the self-perception of health. Thus, proper development of nursing intervention should be required to process in the self-perception of health on the aged.

From January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014, this study analyzed the data on 607 service employees based on the 2nd data of the 6th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey with at-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analysis use of SPSS. The results of the analysis showed that the quality of Life in women was lower (${\beta}=-.074$, p=.050) than that of men, and the older the subjects were, the lower their quality of life(${\beta}=307$, p=.000). Regarding the subjective health status, there was a significant increase in the "very Poor"(${\beta}=186$, p=0.027) and "good"(${\beta}=196$, p=.001) status. The quality of life improved with increasing activity (${\beta}=-0.222$, p=0.000)). Some of the subjects perceived "high stress" (${\beta}=-0.123$, p=0.003) and the others perceived "low stress"(${\beta}=-0.176$, p=0.000). The less they perceived stress, the higher their quality of life. The factors explained 24.6% of the health-related quality of life of the subjects. Therefore, to improve health-related quality of life of service employees, more activity opportunities should be given, the subjective health status should be positively perceived and psychological measures to decrease the level of stress should be developed.

Data collection began in July 2017 and lasted for six months. Data was collected from 410 119 paramedics of the J province and the G metropolitan area who consented to study participation. The results showed that the higher the job satisfaction of the participants, the higher the quality of life (r = 0.508, p = 0.008). The factors affecting the quality of life were leisure activity, subjective health, and job satisfaction. For 119 paramedics to improve their quality of life, they need to relieve work stress and fatigue through leisure activities, and recover and maintain their health through sufficient rest. Moreover, returning to work in a healthy state likely leads to increased job satisfaction, and the quality of life will increase accordingly. Therefore, 119 paramedics should be permitted to have plenty of leisure time outside their work hours and should be able to maintain health through periodic health checks.
