The purpose of this research was to assess university students' nutrition knowledge, confidence, information sources and their body image. This study used an online survey engine to collect data from college students. The result of the correlation showed overall subjective knowledge had significant correlation with nutrition. Means of the BMI were compared among the demographic groups with regard to their ethnicity, classification, and age. Significant differences were found among demographic groups regarding the means of the BMI. These findings can enhance the extant literature on the universal applicability of the model and serve as useful references for further investigations within other health care or foodservice settings and for other health behavioral categories.

Purpose : This study aimed to analyze the relationship between local residents' experience of public health education on smoking, drinking, and nutrition and their perceptions of health and happiness, thereby providing data for improving the levels of residents' perceptions of health and happiness through the expansion of public health education. Methods : This study used 2017 data on the health of local communities in Gyeongsangnam-do. SPSS (version 25.0) was employed for the statistical analysis. A t-test and an analysis of variance were conducted in order to examine the levels of local residents' perceptions of health and happiness according to their general characteristics and whether or not they had received public health education on smoking, drinking, and nutrition. Results : Those who resided in a city, were younger, earned money, had high educational background, and had high income level had much experience on smoking, drinking, and nutrition education. Those who lived in a county, were males, were younger, had a high level of education, earned money, and had high income level felt a high level of subjective happiness. Residents who had experienced smoking, drinking, and nutrition education had a high level of subjective perception of general health and oral health. The subjects' experience of public health education was positively correlated with their levels of perception of their health and happiness. Conclusion : Education on smoking, drinking, and nutrition for local residents does not merely provide them with knowledge but also it is conductive to improving their quality of life. Therefore, more opportunities for a larger number of people to receive public health education on diverse topics should be given to increase their levels of happiness.
Purpose: This study studied and investigated the oral health behavior of students in the Department of Dental Technology at D College at D City. Methods: A self-administrated survey was conducted by students currently enrolled at the Department of Dental Laboratory Technology at D College (June 4, 2015 ~ June 12, 2015), and 320 copies that were available for statistical processing were statistically analyzed by using the SPSS 19.0 Program. Results: Among the survey respondents, 91.6% had experience of dental treatment. The highest response regarding the frequency of tooth brushing appeared to be 'twice' with 44.7%. The responses regarding the time of tooth brushing appeared to be highest for 'before sleeping' with 65.3%, which was followed by 'after breakfast' with 60.6%. To the question asking which areas are brushed during tooth brushing, the response of 'teeth, gum, and tongue' appeared to be highest with 44.4%. Among the respondents, 64.7% experienced scaling, however, the experience rate for scaling appeared to increase in proportion with the increase of class year (p< .001). Regarding the subjective feel for the importance of oral health and necessity of tooth brushing, the scores appeared to be both 4.56. However, the score appeared to be 3.27 regarding one's subjective perception of one's own oral health condition. Regarding one's subjective oral health knowledge level depending on gender, female students showed a meaningfully lower rate (3.12 points) compared to male students (3.29 points) (p< .05), and depending on class, the knowledge level appeared to be meaningfully higher along with the increase in class year (p< .001). The experience of receiving oral health education appeared to be 78.4%, and 88.8% of the respondents responded that there is need for oral health education, however, the intent to participate in an oral health education program appeared to be 56.6%. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it could be concluded that oral health management behaviors and awareness of the students at the Department of Dental Technology at D University to prevent oral diseases were rather poor.

This study was aimed to provide the basic data for the development of effective educational program by reflecting the opinions of the visiting health service workers. The subjects were 144 visiting health service workers in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do area who responded the mail questionnaire. The data were collected from June to July, 2001 using questionnaire composed of the education need, knowledge by subjective appraisal, and experience of education. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The number of respondents who received at least one education within recent three years were 43(29.9%) at the central level, 57(39.6%) at the provincial level and 53(36.8%) at the district level. The satisfaction with education was higher at the central level than at the provincial and district level. 2. Knowledges by subjective appraisal on the 'chronic degenerative diseases management' and 'health promotion' was relatively high. while that of 'rehabilitation' was low. 3. The knowledge by subjective appraisal of visiting health service was related with experience of education and license status. The knowledge was higher in registered nurses than in nurse aids. The curricula related to increased level of knowledge of visting health service workers were 'elderly health care', 'rehabilitation' and 'psychiatric-mental health nursing' educations at the central level 'continuing education for the community health practioners' and 'psychiatric-mental health education' at the provincial level and 'elderly health care', 'rehabilitation' 'psychiatric-mental health' and 'acute diseases control' educations at the district level. 4. The respondents preferred elderly health management as the contents of education, officer group education as the method of education, province(30.4%) as the main body of education, exercise and practice as the form of education, 2-3 times per year as the frequency of education, and 3-5days as the period of education. The findings of this study could suggest that future education program should be planned to increae the knowledge level of visiting health service workers by reflecting their educational need.

Background: Nursing college students are exposed to information about diseases or drugs, and are likely to have a distorted perception of drug knowledge or behavior. The study aimed to identify knowledge and attitude about drugs and current status of self-medication among nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 172 nursing students from a university in Busan. Data were collected with structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA using SPSS 23.0. Results: Nursing students had a high level of knowledge about drugs, but attitudes toward drugs were relatively low. 83.7% of patients had experience of self-medication. The methods to acquire information for self-administration were 29.9% by smart phone and 27.1% by internet. The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) among self-medication drugs was the highest. The most common reason for self-medication was 'I thought it to be a mild disease', and the pharmacists were the most affected by choice of self-medication. The knowledge about drugs was statistically significant according to grade, school life satisfaction and subjective health status. The attitudes about medication were statistically significant according to grade and self-medication experience. Conclusion: Nursing college students need drug safety education to improve awareness and practice of correct drug use.

Purpose: This study was designed to test structural equation modeling of the quality of life of elderly diagnosed dementia living in the community in order to provide guidelines for development of intervention and strategies to improve their quality of life. Methods: The participants in the study were elderly who visited the public health center in C rural between May 30 and september 15, 2017. Data collection was carried out through one-on-one interviews. Demographic factors, knowledge, Attitude, Self-Efficacy, social support, accessibility, request for Information, health practice, depression, subjective memory complaints, dependence scale and quality of life were investigated. Results: The final analysis included 192 elderly. Fitness of the hypothesis model was appropriate(χ2=192.89, p=.000, GFI=0.90, SRMR=0.08, NNFI=0.94, CFI=0.95, PNFI=0.72, RMSEA=0.07). Depression, subjective memory complaints and dependence were found to be significant explaining varience in quality of life. Social support, dementia preventive behavior and health practice had an indirect effect on the quality of life. Conclusions: To improve the quality of life of elderly diagnosed dementia living in the community, comprehensive interventions are necessary to manage knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, social support, health practice, depression, subjective memory complaints and dependence that can contribute to enchance the quality of life of elderly diagnosed dementia living in the community.
Purpose: This study was to identify the factors influencing the practice of respiratory infection prevention (RIP) for the elderly residing in rural areas. Methods: The data were collected from 188 residents aged 65 years or older residing in the jurisdictions of four public health clinics in rural areas of C city, using a structured questionnaire for the period from December 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The score on knowledge of RIP was 8.82±1.36, while it was 4.53±0.47 for attitude, 3.78±0.66 for practice, and 3.78±0.69 for social capital. It was observed that the factors influencing the practice of RIP were attitude of RIP (β=.38, p<.001), social capital (β=.29, p<.001), family type (β=-.19, p=.002), and subjective health status (β=.15, p=.035), while the explanatory power of the model was 47%. Conclusion: Consequently, to enhance the practice of RIP for the elderly residing in rural areas, it is necessary to develop programs considering social and environmental characteristics of rural areas based on their attitude of RIP, social capital, family type and subjective health status.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of knowledge of dementia and attitude of dementia on preventive behavior of dementia in the elderly living alone. The subjects of this study were 101 elderly living alone in the community and data collection was from January 2 to 16, 2020. Data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis. There was a positive correlation between preventive behavior of dementia(r=.42, p<.001). Exercise(β=-.26, p=003), subjective health status(β=.26, p=.003) and knowledge of dementia(β=.37, p<.001) were found to be factors influencing preventive behavior of dementia among the elderly living alone in the community. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to develop some programs that include factors such as exercise, subjective health status and knowledge of dementia for preventive behavior of dementia.
This study was attempted to find out the effect of blood transfusion education for nursing university students. The results of the study on the effectiveness of blood transfusion education of 54 nursing university students (29 experimental groups and 25 control groups) who were selected in a university in Gyeonggi Province were as follows. First, the difference in blood transfusion knowledge before and after the experiment was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. Second, the difference in subjective confidence in blood transfusion before and after the experiment was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. Through this, it is believed that blood transfusion education conducted on nursing university students affects blood transfusion knowledge and subjective confidence of blood transfusion.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test effects of flipped learning on a health education program for allergic rhinitis patients. Methods: The study was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, with 38 participants (experimental group: 19, control group: 19). The education program for allergic rhinitis patients with flipped learning developed for this study was conducted in pre-class, in-class, and post-class stages for a total of 12 weeks. For the in-class stage, a TREAT model suitable for patient education program was developed. Data were analyzed with an independent t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement in knowledge (F=15.029, p<.001), self-efficacy (F=6.814, p<.001) and self-care behavior (F=41.761, p<.001). In addition, subjective symptoms (F=61.453, p<.001) and quality of life (F=52.413, p<.001) improved. Conclusion: The results of this study show that flipped learning in an education program is an effective method for those in their twenties persistent moderate-severe allergic rhinitis. Therefore, the education program for allergic rhinitis developed by this study is actively recommended for nurses or health managers at universities to educate subjects in their twenties with allergic rhinitis.
