Tension stiffening effect of RC panels subject to biaxial stresses

  • An analytical model which can simulate the post-cracking nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) members such as bars and panels subject to uniaxial and biaxial stresses is presented. The proposed model includes the description of biaxial failure criteria and the average stress-strain relation of reinforcing steel. Based on strain distribution functions of steel and concrete after cracking, a criterion to consider the tension-stiffening effect is proposed using the concept of average stresses and strains. The validity of the introduced model is established by comparing the analytical predictions for reinforced concrete uniaxial tension members with results from experimental studies. In advance, correlation studies between analytical results and experimental data are also extended to RC panels subject to biaxial tensile stresses to verify the efficiency of the proposed model and to identify the significance of various effects on the response of biaxially loaded reinforced concrete panels.

Comparison of graph clustering methods for analyzing the mathematical subject classification codes

  • Various graph clustering methods have been introduced to identify communities in social or biological networks. This paper studies the entropy-based and the Markov chain-based methods in clustering the undirected graph. We examine the performance of two clustering methods with conventional methods based on quality measures of clustering. For the real applications, we collect the mathematical subject classification (MSC) codes of research papers from published mathematical databases and construct the weighted code-to-document matrix for applying graph clustering methods. We pursue to group MSC codes into the same cluster if the corresponding MSC codes appear in many papers simultaneously. We compare the MSC clustering results based on the several assessment measures and conclude that the Markov chain-based method is suitable for clustering the MSC codes.

Scapulothoracic Mobilization for the Management of Lateral Epicondylalgia: a Case Report

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the scapulothoracic mobilization on subject with lateral epicondylalgia. This was done through lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion. Methods: Before the experiment, Lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion were measured. Scapulothoracic joint mobilization was applied and then measurements were taken again to compared the changes. Results: After applying the scapulothoracic joint mobilization, lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion significantly improved. Conclusion: This study found that the scapulothoracic mobilization was effective in improving functional aspects and pain on subject with lateral epicondylalgia. The results suggest that the scapulothoracic joint mobilization is a significant considered intervention method that could be used for subject with lateral epicondylalgia.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the equality between key words used in the Journal of Korean Dental Society of Anesthesiology and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Methods: A total of 666 English key words in 187 papers (average 3.5 words in a paper) from 2001 to 2014 were eligible for this study. We classified them according to matched, and non-matched terms. After descriptive analysis, we assayed patterns of errors in using MeSH, and reviewed frequently used non-MeSH terms. Results: Fifty nine point six percent (59.6%) of total key words were completely coincident with MeSH terms, 40.39% were not MeSH terms. Conclusions: The results show that the coincidence rate of key words with MeSH terms was at a moderate level. However, there is a need for us to understand MeSH more specifically and accurately. Use of proper key words aligned with the international standards such as MeSH is important to be properly cited. The authors should pay attention and be educated on correct use of MeSH as key words.

  • 대뇌조직 구분을 위한 실험적인 정보를 제공하기 위한 뇌조직 확률 지도를 개발하는 경우 개인마다 구조적으로 다양한 형태를 가진 뇌의 특성과 특히 인종간의 두드러진 차이론 반드시 고려해야 한다 본 연구에서는 특정 그룹에 대한 뇌조직 확률 지도를 제작하는데 필요한 절차를 알아보고 나이에 따른 그룹간의 뇌조직 확률 지도의 구조적인 차이를 살펴보고자 한다 피험자 그룹은 100명의 건강한 한국인이며 나이에 따라 두 그룹으로 분류하였다. 뇌 확률 지도의 기준 좌표계를 설정하기 위해 전체 그룹 내의 모든 피험자의 뇌 영상에 대한 평균 영상을 구하고, 각 뇌 영상을 기준 좌표계로 정규화 시킨다. 정규화 과정에서 얻어진 변환 매개 변수를 미리 각 뇌조직(회질, 백질, 뇌척수액)으로 분할된 피험자의 영상에 적용하고 각 그룹 내에서 변환된 뇌 조직 영상을 평균함으로써 뇌 조직 확률 지도를 완성하였다. 나이에 따른 구조적인 차이를 살펴보기 위해 그룹간 확률 값의 차이 영상을 구하였다. 이전 연구결과에서와 마찬가지로 나이가 증가함에 따라 뇌실이 확대되고 회질의 위축이 전체적인 뇌 영역에서 일어났다. 그러므로 우리는 대뇌 조직 분할을 위해 설험적인 정보들을 사용하고자 할 때는 특정 그룹에 대한 뇌 확률 지도를 사용할 것을 제안한다.

안경광학과 교양 및 전공기초 교과목에 대한 재학생, 안경사들의 요구 비교 (Analysis of Demand for Cultural and Basic Subject in Majoring of Ophthalmic Optic by Students and Opticians)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 안경광학과 교양 및 전공기초 교육과정의 질적 향상을 위해 학내 외의 교양 및 전공기초 교육 과정에 대한 요구를 바탕으로 대학 교양 및 전공기초 교육의 개선점을 제시하는데 목적이다. 방법: 경기도, 경남, 전남, 전북에 소재한 대학의 재학생 507명과 서울시, 대전시, 경기도, 전북에 근무하는 안경사 138명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하고 이를 분석하였다. 결과: 외국어 과목 요구도는 영어과목이 가장 높았으며 재학생은 영어 과목에 대해 2년제 대학과 3, 4년제 대학 간 유의한 차이를 보여주었고( p<.01), 안경사들은 영어 과목에서 2년제와 3년제 간 유의한 차이를 보였다( p<.05). 과학 과목 요구도는 생물과목이 가장 높았으며 재학생은 물리와 생물과목에서 2년제 대학과 4년제 대학 간 유의한 차이를 보였다( p<.05). 전공기초 과목에서 재학생들은 인성과 경영 과목의 요구도에 대해 2년제 대학과 4년제 대학 간 유의한 차이를 보였으며( p<.05), 재학생과 안경사에게 공통적으로 경영 과목의 요구도는 가장 높았으며 인성 과목은 유의한 차이가 있었다( p<.001). 결론: 안경광학과 재학생과 안경사들의 경영 과목에 대한 요구도가 높았으므로 이들의 요구를 반영하여 이와 관련된 과목의 확대와 강화가 요구된다.

Ethics in University: Cognitive Moral Development and Gender

  • This study examines the accounting students' level of moral development at the university. In this study, we focused on the effects of ethics subject and gender on moral development. Therefore, we compare the moral development of male and female students. We evaluated 216 students in Cognitive Moral Development (CMD) from 17 universities in Indonesia. We measured CMD with the Defining Issues Test (DIT) model developed by Rest in 1986. The findings show that there is no difference in DIT scores between students who have taken the ethics subject and who have not taken. We also confirm female students have a higher DIT score than male students. Our study results show that gender plays an important role in the ethics issue. Our study strengthens the previous research about the effect of ethics study and ethics courses on CMD. This study has an implication for ethics education in university wherein the curriculum or the system should be prepared carefully. Although the results of this study did not show that ethics subject has a strong impact on students' CMD, we still believe that the ethics course plays a significant role in the accountants' morals. For that reason, we argue that morals need time to be developed, and cannot be taught in a short-term course. Future research is needed to explore more about this issue.

Recognizing asymmetric moire patterns for human spinal deformity detection

  • Recently, the number of techniques for analyzing medical images has been increasing in computer vision, employing X-ray CT images, ultrasound images, MR images, moire topographic images, etc. Spinal deformity is a serious problem especially for teenagers and medical doctors inspect moire topographic images of their backs visually for the primary screening. If a subject is normal, the moire image is almost symmetric with respect to the middle line of the subject's back, otherwise it shows asymmetric shape. In this paper, an image analysis technique is described for discriminating suspicious cases from normal in human spinal deformity by recognizing asymmetric moire images of human backs. The principal axes which are sensitive to asymmetry of the moire image are extracted at two parts on a subject's back and their angles are evaluated with respect to the detected middle line of the back. The two angles compose a 2-D feature space and inspected cases are divided into two clusters in the space by a linear discriminant function based on the Mahalanobis distance. Given 120 cases, 60 normal and 60 abnormal, the leave-out method was applied for the recognition and 75% recognition rate was achieved.

  • The school system of fisheries high school was proper to specialist objective school system in order to training for expert human resource development.Training a field of human resources development from fisheries high school is fallow; fisheries production, seamen's training, ship engine and refrigerator, marine electronic telecommunication and information, fisheries foods production and fisheries foods production and distribution, fishery fisheries self-management, marine distribution, management and conservation of marine environment, safety and marine prevention of disasters, apparatus of marine development, under water area development.A new department opening and each department was revised toward to department name and department character. The unit-lesson hour of curriculum according to specialist objective school system of fisheries and marine highschool was revised. professional subject 98 unit-lesson hour(52%), normality subject 90 unit-lesson hour(48%), and educational activity of professional subject 10unit-lesson hour, total training activity 10 unit-lesson hour. And the special objective school system need to revise curriculum of 208 total unit-lesson hour.

내용분석에 의한 식생활 라이프스타일 관련 연구논문의 동향: 1990~2009년 발표된 식생활 라이프스타일과 관련된 학술지 게재 논문 분석 (Content Analysis of Dietary Lifestyle-Related Resreach Articles from 1990 to 2009)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of dietary lifestyle-related research articles during the period from 1990 to 2009. A total of 44 articles were identified and subjected to content analysis. Article content was coded according to subject of study, age of respondents, sample size, type of sample, statistical methods used and location of study. The most important type of content category was the study subject, and this was subdivided into research related to 1) dietary pattern, 2) health, 3) dining spaces, 4) foods, 5) restaurant/institutional foodservices, and 6) beverage-related topics. The most common subject was restaurant/institutional foodservice-related research (59.1% of articles), followed by beverage-related research (20.5%). These two subjects accounted for approximately 80% of all the 44 articles reviewed.
