  • This study investigates the effect of SSI debate on first-year high school student's opinions about environmental issue, their judgment grounds, and solutions to regional environmental problems. The SSI debate was about white heron habitats near the village where students live. As the main data of the study, environmental perception questionnaires, and students' workbook including open-ended questions were collected before and after class. The environmental perception questionnaire was analyzed by descriptive statistics, and the response of the open-ended questions was analyzed through inductive qualitative research methods. First, the results of this study shows that the SSI debate has a statistically significant impact on students' environmental attitude. Second, a majority of students agreed on the idea that villagers should drive the birds out of town and they did not change their after the discussion class. However, after the discussion class, students' solutions about the issue were changed in a way that more short-term, feasible, concrete, and less time-consuming solutions to the problem. Based on the results of this study, this study implies that SSI issue debate using local problem should be used more often in science classroom so the students recognize local SSI and improve real world problem solving skills.

  • In this study, a science writing heuristic class with emphasis on social interaction and tool improvement for 10 middle school students at the National University Science-Gifted Education Center in Jeollanamdo was conducted to investigate the perception of STS (science technology society) relationship and students' perception of the effects of class. After science writing heuristic class emphasizing social interaction and tool improvement, the students became aware of the STS relationships as follows: Science-gifted students have come to perceive that experimental tools and technology contribute to the development of scientific theory, that it is difficult to solve all social problems with only science and technology, and that science is a social interaction activity. In addition, science-gifted students responded that they became aware of the relevance of STS through intensive inquiry conducted on the same subject for several hours, communications with colleagues in another group through peer reviews, communication to solve problems with colleagues in the same group, activities to improve tools in the process of inquiry, inquiry using familiar materials and phenomena. In order for students to effectively recognize the relationship of STS in science-gifted class for middle school students, it is necessary to provide experience to solve problems using various experimental tools, experience to have trial and error in the process of solving inquiry problem under the same subject, experience to improve tools in the process of solving inquiry problem, experience to communicate with colleagues who conduct inquiry activities under the same subject, experience to share the results with other groups, and inquiry activities using familiar materials and phenomena.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the phenomena that occurred when the students were practicing flip-learning lessons and to present the good points and the unsatisfactory points to improve the students' learning pleasure. Therefore, it is aimed to provide the basic data and the advantages and disadvantages which are needed to apply the flip learning method which is newly emerging recently to the university instruction. The method of this study was a questionnaire survey to understand the perception of flip learning. Based on the results of this study, the following conclusions are presented. First, the experience of flip learning instruction was first encountered by 50% of college students. Second, the students showed a very low tendency in practicing the flip learning instruction(video watching) the instructor intended. Third, college students have a habit of learning that they are not ready for pre-study of the subject. Fourth, the perception of flip learning lesson through the provision of video was highly positive. Fifthly, flip learning lessons have the advantage of being able to learn regardless of the time and place that they have, but they are not actively involved if they are not actually reflected in the test or grades. In conclusion, it was found that college students became accustomed to the incentive-style lessons due to the application of various learning techniques from elementary school age, making it difficult to participate in voluntary learning.

For this purpose, data from January 2014 to September 2021 were collected using the Textom website as a keyword searched for 'invention+education+center' in blogs, cafes, and news channels of NAVER and DAUM website. The collected data was refined using the Textom website, and text mining analysis and semantic network analysis were performed by the Textom website, Ucinet 6, and Netdraw programs. The collected data were subjected to a primary and secondary refinement process and 60 keywords were selected based on the word frequency. The selected key words were converted into matrix data and analyzed by semantic network analysis. As a result of text mining analysis, it was confirmed that 'student', 'operation', 'Korea Invention Promotion Association', and 'Korean Intellectual Property Office' were the meaningful keywords. As a result of semantic network analysis, five clusters could be identified: 'educational operation', 'invention contest', 'education process and progress', 'recruitment and support for business', and 'supervision and selection institution'. Through this study, it was possible to confirm various meaningful social perceptions of the general public in relation to invention education center on the internet. The results of this study will be used as basic data that provides meaningful implications for researchers and policy makers studying for invention education.

  • This study investigates Korean university students' perception of TOEIC courses taught by Korean and native English teachers and test results in an effort to identify better methodologies to teach TOEIC. To find out the student's perceptions of TOEIC classes, a survey was conducted. The one hundred sixty students who attended the TOEIC courses participated in a questionnaire survey at the end of the semester. Based on a survey of students' assumptions toward TOEIC classes and teachers, this paper discusses the skills students feel important to improve their TOEIC scores and what their actual scores show. The research questions were: 1) what are some of the benefits of having a Korean or native English teacher for TOEIC courses? 2) what are some of the drawbacks of having a Korean or native English teacher for TOEIC courses? The results indicated that Korean and native English teachers have an equal chance to become successful teachers, but the methods used by the two groups are not the same in the context of teaching TOEIC courses; in the short term, direct test preparation, dictation and repetition by Korean or native teachers might be good methods for TOEIC courses, however, in the long term, conversation and discussion performed by native teachers may affect scores in a positive way.

  • The purpose of this study is two-fold: first, to examine the current status of e-dictionary use in Korea and the attitude toward its use by Korean college students; second, to investigate to what degree e-dictionaries may be useful and effective tools in helping to improve learners' overall English skills. The subjects were 84 college students and they were divided into two groups: the experiment group and the control group. The instrument employed was the Preliminary Student Usage Questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher, together with the questionnaire survey developed by Koyama and Takeuchi (2004), which was modified for the study. The findings from this research are as follows: First, a special instruction session on how to use e-dictionaries made a statistically significant difference among users of the dictionaries. Those subjects who had received the instruction displayed a more positive attitude toward the use of e-dictionaries. Second, the experiment group showed a more favorable attitude toward the use of e-dictionaries. On the basis of the above results, the researcher suggests that proper guidance on the use of e-dictionaries and their benefits should have a positive influence on users. The findings from the current research will shed light on the current status of electronic dictionary use among Korean college students.

Judging the model's impression when subjects evaluated other's appearance and personality ,clothes affected it and clothes also had a strong impact when subject inferred others's characteristics such as ability and activity. Among the three kinds of sex related cue like men's clothes, women's clothes and ambiguous clothes, when a model wore men's clothes, he mode's impression judged by the subjects was most favorable and positive. But respondents sex role identity appeared that it didn't affected the judgement of the wearer's sex, evaluation and inference of wearer's characteristics.
