  • This paper considers maximum likelihood (ML) estimation of lifetime distribution under stress bounded ramp tests in which the stress is increased linearly from used condition stress to the stress u, pp.r bound. The following assumptions are used: exponential lifetime distribution under a constant stress, an inverse power law relationship between stress and mean of exponential lifetime distribution, and a cumulative exposure model for the effect of changing stress. Likelihood equations for the parameters involved in the model and asymptotic distribution of the estimators are obtained, and a numerical example is given.

  • A FEA(finite element analysis) model was proposed to study stress and strain distributions in thick composites with various types of fiber waviness under tensile and compressive loadings. Three types of model were considered in this study: uniform fiber waviness, graded fiber waviness and localized fiber waviness models. In the analysis, both material and geometrical nonlinearities due to fiber waviness were incorporated into the model utilizing energy density and incremental method. The strain distributions of uniform fiber waviness model were strongly influenced whereas the stress distributions were little influenced by fiber waviness. The stress and strain distributions of graded and localized fiber waviness models showed more complex distributions than those of uniform fiber waviness model due to the variation of fiber waviness along the thickness and length directions. It was concluded that the stress and strain distributions of composites with fiber waviness were significantly affected by types of fiber waviness.

  • This paper proposes the step-stress type-I censoring model for analyzing the data of accelerated life test and reducing the time of accelerated life test. In order to obtain the data of accelerated life test, the step-stress accelerated life test was run with voltage stress to CMOS Hex Buffer. The Weibull distribution, the Inverse-power-law model and Maximum likelihood method were used. The iterative procedure using modified-quasi-linearization method is applied to solve the nonlinear equation. The proposed Weibull step-stress type-I censoring model exactly estimases the life time of units, while reducting the time of accelerated life test and the equipments of test.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of stress transfer around carven due to cavern size and rock joint properties by laboratory model test. In order to perform this study, eight different scaled model tests were carried out according to excavation stage. The limited numerical analysis were also performed to verify the model test results. The amount of stress transfer around the cavern is increased and then decreased by longitudinal arching effect according to tunnel excavation. It is founded that the stress developed around the cavern during excavation is increased when the cavern size and joint orientation are increased. It is also investigated that shear behaviour (such as stress, deformation) developed around cavern is considerably depended on the characteristic of fill material, dip and direction of joints. It is suggested that the behaviour will be verified throughout the 3D numerical prediction.

가상균열 모델을 이용한 피로균열 진전 해석 (Analysis of fatigue crack growth using fictitious crack model)

  • A fictitious crack model was used to analyze fatigue crack growth under the influence of residual stress. In the fictitious crack model, crack is represented in terms of the separation of two adjacent interfaces and the constitutive equation between the separation and traction is assumed. The effect of fatigue loading was included in the constitutive equation by considering damage accumulation in the cohesive zone. To investigate the effect of the residual stress on the fatigue crack growth, we calculated the residual stress distribution due to transient heat flux to the specimen by finite element method. Fatigue crack growth was simulated by the fictitious crack model with repeated loading. The mode-I crack growth rates were compared for the cases with and without the compressive residual stress around the crack tip. It was observed that the mode-I crack growth can be suppressed by compressive residual stress.

Job Stress at the Shipbuilding Industry

  • Objectives: The objectives of this study are to discuss the importance of job stress and to introduce a model of job stress at the shipbuilding industry considering the characteristics of the shipbuilding works. Background: Shipbuilding works consist of grinding, painting, interior works, welding, and assembling and using heavy equipment in narrow space or work at outside or at high and dangerous places. The working environments aggravate the stress to the workers. Methods: Studies of job stress in industries including shipbuilding industries were reviewed and the characteristics of jobs of shipbuilding were analyzed to find causes of job stress. Results: A model was constructed based upon these findings and reviews. Conclusions: Job stress of shipbuilding workers are very high and thus job and working conditions need to be improved to attenuate the level of job stress of shipbuilding workers. Applications: This model can be used to identify the highly stressed workers and sources of stress.

A Numerical Model for Prediction of Residual Stress Using Rayleigh Waves

  • In this work, a numerical model is proposed for the relation between the magnitudes and the depth residual stress with the velocity of Rayleigh wave. Three cases, stress-free, uniform stress and layered stress, are investigated for the change tendency of the Rayleigh wave speed. Using the simulated signal with variation of residual stress magnitude and depth, investigation of the parameters for fitting residual stress and velocity change are performed. The speed change of Rayleigh wave shows a linear relation with the magnitude and an exponential relation with the depth of residual stress. The combination of these two effects could be used for the depth profile evaluation of the residual stress.

  • 사람들은 스트레스라고 하면 보통 부정적인 측면만을 생각하곤 하는데 스트레스는 긍정적인 측면도 있고 부정적인 측면도 있다. 긍정적이든 부정적이든 스트레스는 변화로부터 기인한다. 변화는 삶에 있어서 필연적인 것이다. 결국 사람들은 어쩔 수 없이 스트레스를 경험할 수밖에 없다. 경찰이라는 직업은 업무 특성상 스트레스를 많이 받는 직업들 중의 하나이다. 경찰업무는 신체적${\cdot}$감정적인 긴장 상태에 이르게 함으로써 경찰공무원들의 스트레스를 유발시킨다. 위험, 좌절, 과도한 업무부담, 가족 및 동료 그리고 주민들의 이해 부족은 경찰공무원의 스트레스를 유발시키는 요인이 된다. 그렇기 때문에 뉴욕에 본부를 둔 미국 스트레스 연구소는 경찰을 스트레스가 가장 많은 10개 직업들 중 하나로 선정하기도 했다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 의료 모델과 조직보건 모델의 관점에서 경찰공무원의 스트레스 관리방안을 제시하였다. 의료 모델에서는 경찰공무원 개인적 차원에서 제거, 대처, 상담을 통한 스트레스 관리방안을 제시하였으며, 조직보건 모델에서는 경찰관리자의 차원에서 첫째, 인사제도의 합리화, 둘째, 복지 증진, 셋째, 경찰조직의 민주적 운영, 넷째, 원만한 대민관계 유지, 다섯째, 경찰공무원 가족을 위한 스트레스 관리 프로그램 개발 등을 제시하였다.

  • The strain gage, holographic and photoelastic analysis etc. have been used for stress analysis of prosthesis, orthodontic or orthopedic appliances and filling materials. But these methods has some limitation in analyzing the internal stress. The Finite Element Analysis has been proved to compensate this defect and widely used in this area. The purpose of this study was to compare the stress distributions of the various temporary filling methods being used in pulpotomy procedure. Three different models were designed according to temporary filling material and method: amalgam filling with ZOE base(Model I), amalgam filling with ZPC sub-base and ZOE(Model II), IRM filling only(Model III). The results of the experiment were as follows: 1. In model I under the load case 6 and 1, the significant stress was shown to be concentrated on the buccal portion of crown. 2. Model II showed the similar pattern of stress distribution to Model I. 3. In model III under load case 2, the stress was mainly distributed on the buccal cusp tip and buccal margin of filling material. In same model under the load case 3, the stress was distributed on the lingual cusp tip. 4. Based on the above data, IRM can be assumed to have advantage over the other tested materials in reducing the incidence of crown fracture by localized the stress within the filling materials.

인두조직의 점 탄성특성의 수학적모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mathematical Modeling of Human Pharyngeal Tissue Viscoelasticity)

  • Y.C. Fung[1]에 의한 연조직의 점탄성에 관한 수학적 모델이론 (Fung's Quasi-linear vlscoelastic theory)을 이용하여 인간의 인두조직의 점탄성(vlscoelatlcity)특성을 측정하기 위하여 반복성하중(cyclic load) ,응력완화 (tensile stress relaxation), incremental load, 그리고 일축성인장 (uniaxial tensile) 시험 등을 실시하였다. 실험적으로 측정한 인두조직의 점탄성특성이 이미 조사된 다른 조직의 점탄성특성과 정량적으로 비교되었다. 인두조직의 점탄성특성의 정량화를 위하여 Y.C.Fung의 수학적 모델이 적용되었는데 응력완화(tensile stress relaxation) 시험 측정결과로부터 도출된 표준화된 응력완화(reduced stress relaxation)함수 G(t)와 일축성인장(uniaxial tensile)시험에서 도출된 탄성반응(elastic response)함수 5(t)를 이용하여 시간에 따른 응력의 궤적을 산출하여 이를 반복성 하중(cyclic load)실험에서 측정된 결과와 비교, 분석하였다. 이러한 인두조직의 점탄성특성에 관한 연구결과는 향후 유한요소를 이용한 인두의 생체역학적 모델의 기본 데이터로 이용될 수 있다.
