The Effect of Nursing Students' Clinical Practice Stress, Performance Ability, Satisfaction, and Critical Thinking on Nursing Professional Self Concept (간호학생의 임상실습 스트레스, 수행능력, 만족도, 비판적 사고성향이 간호전문직 자아개념에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to examine the structural model of nursing student 's Professional self-concept, Critical thinking, Clinical Practice Satisfaction, Clinical competency and Clinical Practice Stress. The subjects consisted of 227 nursing students and data was collected through Structured questionnaires. Results, Critical thinking, Clinical Practice Satisfaction, Clinical competency and Clinical Practice Stress showed a direct effect on Professional self-concept for nursing students. Clinical competency and Clinical Practice Stress showed an indirect effect on nursing Professional self-concept. Clinical competency and Clinical Practice Stress showed a direct effect on Critical thinking and Clinical Practice Satisfaction. In this paper, we propose a new approach to nursing students 'self-concept in nursing. In this paper, we propose a new approach to nursing students' self-concept. And to develop and apply an intervention program that can reduce the stress of clinical practice.

Stress, Depression, Coping Styles and Satisfaction of Clinical Practice in Nursing Students (일 간호대학생의 스트레스, 우울, 대처방법과 임상실습 만족도)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among stress, depression, coping styles and satisfaction of clinical practice in nursing students. Method: Two hundred fifty-eight nursing college students in 1 city were selected by convenient sample. A questionnaire measured the level of stress, depression, coping styles and satisfaction of clinical practice. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Result: The mean score of stress was 2.82 (${\pm}.39$), depression was 19.23 (${\pm}7.70$), coping styles was 2.42 (${\pm}.42$), and satisfaction of clinical practice was 2.81 (${\pm}.41$). There were significant differences on four variables according to the satisfaction of a nursing major. Stress had a significant positive correlation with depression, and a negative correlation with problem focused coping and satisfaction of clinical practice. Depression had a significant negative correlation with satisfaction of clinical practice. Emotional focused coping had a significant positive correlation with depression, and problem focused coping had a significant negative correlation with depression. Conclusion: From the studies reviewed, one can expect a positive effect on decreasing stress and depression among nursing students when the nursing educators use counseling and instruction for clinical practice.

Relevance of dental hygiene students' stress and its physical environmental and interpersonal factors in clinical practice institutions (임상실습기관의 물리적인 환경요인과 대인관계요인에 대한 스트레스와 스트레스 량의 관련성: 치위생과 학생 대상으로)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevance of stress and stress amounts of physical environment factors and interpersonal factors of clinical practice institution of dental hygiene department students. It is in order to create condition to focus on clinical practice institution. Methods: The participants in this study were 231 dental hygiene department students engaged in clinical practice; the survey was conducted from September 1 to 30, 2018, using a structured questionnaire (1040460-A-2018-036). The questionnaire consisted of items on participants' general characteristics (4 items), characteristics of the clinical practice institution (9 items), stress from environmental factors (8 items), stress from interpersonal factors (7 items), and stress amounts of BEPSI (5 items). The collected data were compared and analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The physical environment and interpersonal factors of stress according in clinical practice institutions were statistically significant. In case of a number of dentists (p<0.05), subjective practice atmosphere (p<0.001), practice satisfaction (p<0.001), and kindly teach (p<0.001). The factors affecting the amount of stress on the characteristics of the clinical practice institution were that the dental clinic, the relationship with the dental hygienist is common, the number of dentists is 4 or more, and there is no resting room. Conclusions: The selected clinical practice institutions should provide dental hygiene department students with places to relax and a systematic hands-on manual.

Stress, Anxiety and Fatigue of Nursing Students in Clinical Practice (일 간호학생의 임상실습 스트레스, 불안 및 피로조사)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the levels of stress, anxiety and fatigue of nursing students in clinical practice, and the relationship among these variables. Method: Data was collected by structured questionnaires from 223 nursing students who have practiced at the hospital in Gwangju. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Result: The mean score for stress was 3.87. The mean score for anxiety was 44.88. The mean score for fatigue was 30.79. There was a significant difference of stress according to student grade, practice unit, practice time, satisfaction of clinical practice. There was a significant difference of anxiety according to religion, health status, satisfaction of clinical practice, satisfaction on nursing. There was a significant difference of fatigue according to religion, health status, practice time, satisfaction of clinical practice, selective motivation on nursing, satisfaction on nursing. Conclusion: This study revealed that there was a significant correlation among stress, anxiety and fatigue of nursing students in clinical practice.

Relationship between the Stress of Clinical Practice and Compassion Competence in Nursing Students: The Mediating Effect of Nursing Professionalism (간호대학생의 임상실습 스트레스와 공감역량의 관계: 간호전문직관의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: This study examined the mediating effects of nursing professionalism on the relationship between the stress of clinical practice and compassion competence in nursing students. Methods: A correlational research design was used in this study. The participants were 120 nursing students recruited from three universities in South Korea. Data were collected using the self-reporting scales of stress of clinical practice, nursing professionalism, and compassion competence. Baron and Kenny's regression method and the Sobel test were used to analyze the mediating effects of nursing professionalism on the association between the stress of clinical practice and compassion competence. Results: The mean score for compassion competence was above average. Of the compassion competence domains, sensitivity and insights had the highest and lowest scores, respectively; there were significant mean differences in compassion competence scores according to their grade and level of satisfaction with nursing major. Compassion competence correlated negatively with the stress of clinical practice, whereas it correlated positively with nursing professionalism. In addition, nursing professionalism exerted full mediating effects on the relationship between the stress of clinical practice and compassion competence. Conclusion: The results suggested that enhancing nursing professionalism could help promote compassion competence among nursing students who experience stress in clinical practice.

Effects of Intensive Clinical Training for Nursing Students in Nursing Practice on their Clinical Competence, State Anxiety, and Clinical Practice Stress (간호학생의 밀착형 실무진입 임상실습교육이 임상수행능력, 상태불안 및 임상실습 스트레스에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a intensive clinical training program for nursing practice on the clinical competence, state anxiety, clinical practice stress in nursing students who were beginning their first clinical practice. Methods: This practice has been processed as a 'Pre-Post design with a non-equivalent control group'. The participants were 177 students in a college of nursing. The students were divided into two groups: 89 students in the experimental group and 88 students in the control group. Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement in their clinical competence scores compared to the control group. The difference between the two groups was also significant. State anxiety in the experimental group significantly decreased compared to the control group. However, scores for stress during practice were not significantly different. Conclusion: The findings in this research reveal that the program, 'Close clinical practice training for nursing students' practice entry, contributes to improving students' overall ability and performance, and reduces anxiety of nursing students as they start their first clinical practice. These findings can be utilized in helping nursing students improve the quality of their performance.

Affecting Factors on Stress of Clinical Practice in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습스트레스에 영향을 주는 요인)

  • This study was conducted to identify factors affecting clinical practice stress of nursing students. Data were collected from 191 nursing students who experienced clinical practice and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Study result turned up interpersonal ability is 3.61points(5points), nunchi is 3.57points(5points), clinical practice stress is 2.94points(5points). Factors affecting clinical practice stress were interpersonal ability, and nunchi Behavior. These variables were 23.5% influential in explaining the clinical practice stress of nursing students. Based on this result, it can be used as basic data to prepare a plan to reduce the clinical practice stress of nursing students.

Stress of Clinical Practice and Mental Health According to DISC Behavioral Styles in Nursing University Students (간호대학생의 DISC 행동유형에 따른 임상실습스트레스와 정신건강)

  • Background: Many nursing university students were stressed during clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to identify the difference between stress of clinical practice and mental health according to behavioral styles in nursing university students. Methods: The participants of this study were 233 junior and senior nursing students who had experienced clinical practice. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires in online from November 2017 to March 2018. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 25.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: The most frequent DISC behavior style of the subjects was conscientiousness (43.8%), follewed by steadiness (19.7%), influence (18.9%), and dominance (17.6%). The participants'scores for stress of clinical practice and mental health were $3.35{\pm}0.55$ and $1.13{\pm}0.65$. The stress of clinical practice of the subjects was different according to DISC behavior styles(F=2.86, p=.038). The results show that the higher the score of stress of clinical practice was the higher the score of mental health(r=.51, p<.001). Conclusion: This study found that the difference of DISC behavioral styles can be attributed to stress of clinical practice. Therefore, nursing intervention program considering with the subjects'DISC behavior styles needs to be developed to reduce their stress of clinical practice.

Convergence among Resilience, Clinical Performance ability, Stress in Clinical Practice of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 회복탄력성, 임상실습 수행능력, 임상실습 스트레스 간의 융합관련성)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the convergence that resilience has on clinical performance ability and stress in clinical practice in order to prepare effective educational materials for clinical practice. The results showed that satisfaction of university life, satisfaction of nursing major and satisfaction of clinical practice had significant effects on resilience, clinical performance ability and stress in clinical practice. Also the correlation between the resilience and clinical performance ability of nursing students was positive(r=.510). And the correlation between the resilience and stress in clinical practice was negative(r=-.153). These findings indicate that there is a need to improve resilience of nursing students to promote the clinical performance ability and to lessen stress in clinical practice. The results should be reflected in the development of effective programs.

Stress and Self-Esteem Related to Clinical Practices in Selected Dental Hygiene Departments (일부 치위생과 학생들의 임상실습 스트레스와 자아존중감에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose. This study was conducted in order to identify levels of stress and self-esteem related to clinical practices of dental hygiene department students. Methods. Data was collected from a group of 249 students from October to November 2015, in the Yeong-nam region. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics frequency and t-test, logistic regressions by a SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results. The results indicate that the characteristics of those who appeared to practice managing teaching was higher than that of the stress levels of clinical practice(p=.044). As well. personal relations(p=.013), degree of major satisfaction(p=.001), levels of satisfaction of practice(p=.019) resulted in higher levels of self esteem. The stress levels of clinical practice and high levels of satisfaction of practice were reduced and resulted in a dental hygienic negative correlation(p=.016). Self-esteem levels increased significantly according to personal relations(p=.001) and satisfaction of practice(p=.014). Conclusion. A strategy for development of a method to reduce the stress of clinical practice among individuals and an improvement of self-esteem programs which is necessary for dental hygiene students.
