간호학 전공 여학생과 문과계 전공 여학생의 성 고정관념 비교 (Comparison of Gender Stereotype between Female Nursing Students and Humanities Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify difference in gender stereotype between female nursing students and humanities students. Methods: A descriptive comparative study was done. The subjects were 300 nursing students and 114 humanities students who were selected by convenient sampling. Data were collected from September 2008 to October 2008 using a constructive questionnaire with 30 questions, which was prepared for this study by modifying the instrument about gender stereotype developed by Kim. The data were analyzed through ANCOVA, factor analysis and Chronbach's.using the SPSS program. Results: 1) Of the six subcategories of gender stereotype, five were higher in the nursing students than in the humanities students, but occupational gender stereotype was not. 2) Age affected total, familiar, social, external, and intellectual gender stereotype. 3) Self-satisfaction and major satisfaction affected social gender stereotype. 4) In the analysis of difference in gender stereotype with controlling age, self-satisfaction and major satisfaction, the nursing students showed statistically significant higher scores in intellectual stereotype than the humanities students. Conclusion: Because female nursing students tended to show high gender stereotype, nursing educators need to develop programs for helping nursing students escape from gender stereotypes and increase their self-satisfaction.

남자간호사의 성 고정관념과 직무만족에 관한 연구 (Study on Male Nurses' Gender Stereotype and Job Satisfaction)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate gender stereotype and job satisfaction, and to identify the relationship between gender stereotype and job satisfaction in male nurses. Method: The participants were 165 male nurses who worked in the Seoul, Gyeonggi and Daejeon areas. Data were collected from August 31th, 2009 to October 15th, 2009. A survey questionnaire was used to measure demographics, gender-role identity, gender stereotype and job satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS/Win 12.0 version. Results: The mean score for gender stereotype was 2.81 points out of a possible 5. There were statistically significant differences in gender stereotype by general characteristics such as career in the current department (F=5.249, p=.007) and position (t=2.547, p=.012). The scores for gender stereotype were significantly higher in the group with less than five years in the current department and in the staff nurse group. The mean score for job satisfaction was 2.95 out of a possible 5. There was a significant negative correlation between gender stereotype and job satisfaction. Conclusions: Development of educational programs is required to improve the gender stereotype.

성 고정관념 활성화가 남녀의 자아해석에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Gender-stereotype Activation in Men's and Women's Self-construal)

  • 본 연구는 성 고정관념이 활성화되었을 때 남성과 여성의 자아해석은 어떻게 달라지는지를 알아보기 위해 시도되었다. 그 결과 전반적으로 남성들의 성 고정관념 점수가 여성들보다 높았고 이런 현상은 자아해석에도 그대로 반영되었다. 여성들은 여성에 대한 고정관념은 낮지만 자아해석은 매우 고정형적으로 하고 있었다. 성 고정관념의 활성화효과는 남성들에게는 나타나지 않고 여성들에게만 나타나, 고정관념이 활성화되었을 때 자아해석을 덜 고정형적으로 하는 탈동일시 경향을 보였다. 영역별로는 역할 영역에서 남성은 고정관념을 수용하는 반면 여성들은 거부하는 양상이 나타났고, 외모 영역에서는 남녀 모두 고정관념을 수용하는 경향이 높았다. 능력영역에서는 남성들은 고정관념이 활성화될 때 더 고정형적인 자아해석을 하는데 비해 여성들은 탈동일시하는 현상이 나타났다. 한편 처방적인 성 고정관념을 자아에 반영하는 경향은 남성에게서 더 강하게 나타났다. 성 고정관념을 가지고 있는 정도에 따라 고정관념 고-저 집단을 나누어 자아해석을 살펴 본 결과, 남녀 모두 성 고정관념이 낮은 사람들은 높은 사람들에 비해 자아해석이 덜 고정형적이었다. 그리고 여성의 경우에는 고정관념이 활성화되었을 때에 성 고정관념이 낮은 사람들이 고정형적인 자아해석을 더 많이 억압하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 성 고정관념이 그 수혜자인 남성과 피해자인 여성의 자아해석에 각기 다르게 영향을 미쳐, 거부되기도 하지만, 자아에 반영되고 실천되어 성 고정관념을 유지시킬 수 있다고 해석되었다.

남자간호사의 성 고정관념 역할갈등 및 조직몰입 간의 관계 (The Relationship among Gender Stereotype, Role Conflict and Organizational Commitment of Male nurses)

  • Purposes: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between male nurse's gender stereotype, role conflict and organizational commitment. Methodology: Data were collected from 169 male hospital nurses from August, 2016 until September. The Male nurse's gender stereotype, role conflict and organizational commitment were measured using a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/win 23.0 for windows. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation were used. Findings: There were statistically significant differences in the gender stereotype by general characteristics such as age and military duty. There were statistically significant differences in the role conflict by general characteristics such as education level and position. There were statistically significant differences in the organizational commitment by general characteristics such as the hospital's location and hospital type. Gender stereotype and role conflict had no significant correlation (r=-0.050, p=.516). A statistically significant positive correlation was detected between male nurse's gender stereotype and 'continuance commitment' (r=0.272, p<.001). A statistically significant positive correlation was detected between male nurse's role conflict and 'continuance commitment' (r=0.178, p=.021). Practical implications: The result of this study indicate that to reduce role conflict of workplace environment and induce the affective commitment of male nurses within a female-centered nursing organization should be sought.

성역할정체감에 따른 남성패션의 여성화경향 요인 - 20$\sim$30대 남성을 중심으로 - (The factor of feminization in men's fashion according to Sex Role Stereotype - research about 20's$\sim$30's mens -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factor of feminization in men's fashion according to Sex Role Stereotype of 20's$\sim$30's mens. The investigators surveyed 260 men who aged twenties and thirties in pusan. For data analysis, we used Chi-Square Test, Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis, T-test and ANOVA along with SPSS 12.0 package. The results of this study were as followings: First, the result of sex role stereotype according to vital statistics was different with age, scholarship, job, and employer. Androginy type and Undiffer type highly showed most variable. That showed the change of Sex Role Stereotype. Second, the result of the factor of feminization in men's fashion according to Sex Role Stereotype was identified as 'pursuit of fashion,' 'pursuit of sense,' 'feminity,' 'secession of sex role.' Third, the result of the factor of feminization in men's fashion according to the vital statistics was different with scholarship, job, and employer. Forth, the factor of feminization in men's fashion according to sex role stereotype was different with 'pursuit of fashion,' 'pursuit of sense,' 'secession of sex role.' Especially, 'pursuit of fashion' and 'pursuit of sense' was importantly understood with the factor of feminization in men's fashion in Androginy type.

성역할정체감이 겉옷.속옷에 대한 의복행동 및 의복이미지 선호에 미치는 영향 (A Study on Clothing Behavior and Clothing Image of Out/Inner Wear According to Sex Role Stereotype)

  • This study intends to analyze the sex role stereotype that could be effective variable for conduction clothing behavior and clothing image preference, to find out the relationship between sex role stereotype and out/inner wear clothing behavior and clothing image preference of women, and to provide useful information for establishing marketing strategies of out/inner wear market. A total of 628 samples were selected from adult female in Seoul. Questionnaire was used as major method of gathering data. They were analyzed by SAS package. Main result of this study were follows: 1. In the relationship between clothing behavior and clothing image preference and demographic variables, four clothing-behaviores of out wear, and comfort and aesthetics of inner wear showed significant differences according to all of the demographic variables. 2. In the relationship between sex role stereotype and clothing behavior and clothing image preference, four types of sex role stereotype were showed significant differences in comfort, modesty, aesthetics and masculine-feminine image of out wear, and masculine-feminine image of inner wear. 3. In the consistency between out wear clothing behavior and clothing image preference, and inner wear clothing behavior and clothing image preference according to sex role stereotype, all cases except one showed no significant consistency.

청소년의 다문화경험이 다문화인식과 고정관념에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Multicultural Experiences of Adolescents and Multicultural Perception and Stereotype)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 다문화경험이 다문화인식과 고정관념에 미치는 직접효과와 다문화경험이 다문화인식을 매개로 고정관념에 미치는 간접효과의 검증을 통하여 인과관계를 분석하였다. 연구의 목적달성을 위해 경남지역 중학교 6개교 재학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 그 중 332부를 구조방정식모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과는 첫째, 다문화경험이 다문화인식에 개방성에 긍정적 영향을, 타문화거부와 타문화에 대한 편견에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화에 대한 개방성은 고정관념에 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 타문화에 대한 편견, 타문화에 대한 거부는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화경험이 고정관념에 직접적인 영향은 미치지 않지만 다문화인식을 통한 간접효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 도출된 연구결과를 통해 다문화가정 청소년을 위한 학교교육의 방향 및 정책적 시사점과 다문화가정 청소년의 개입을 위한 사회복지적 제언을 제공하였다.

4구 가스레인지 버너-조종장치 연결에 대한 스테레오타이프 및 효과적 암시 신호 (Stereotype and Effective Cues for Burner-Control Relationship of Four-Stove Range)

  • This study aims to investigate stereotype and effective cue presentation methods for burner-control relationship of four-stove range for Korean. A total of 381 subjects(male : 262, female : 119) were surveyed using questionnaire, in which eight gas range models drawn by 3-D Max 2010 were presented. The gas range models were labeled by signs(☆#${\triangle}{\square}$) to eliminate suggestive effect of sequential codes such as alphabets and numbers. The results showed that the stereotype was significantly affected by occupation(p < 0.10), but not by subjects' gender and age(p > 0.39). The stereotype of four-burner gas range for Korean was the same as that of Chinese, while the stereotype was different from that of American. The cues with rectangular-shaped arrangements identical or similar to those of burners were effective to relate burners to corresponding controls. The diamond-shaped cues and burner arrangements were not appropriate for representing burner-control relationship of four-stove gas range. These findings would be used as a basic guideline when designing four-burner gas range or similar equipments.

Stereotype for Control-display Relationship of Four-burner Range for Korean

  • The aims of this study are to investigate the Korean population stereotype for control-display linkage of four-burner gas-range, and to compare the results of this study with those of the existing studies. The investigation used a paper-pencil test using questionnaire with a sign code system for eliminating suggestive effect of sequential code. Two hundreds and eighty subjects participated in the investigation, among whom 254 subjects effectively responded to question for the gas-range stereotype. The results showed that type III(refer to Table 2) was chosen more frequently than type II, IV and V(p<0.01). The gender is not significant on responding rate for the type of control-burner linkage(p>0.92), while the age and occupation have significant effect on the rate(p<0.01). Based on this study, it appears that type III represents the population stereotype of control-burner arrangement for Korean. The stereotype was the same as that of Chinese, but different from that of American(type II or IV). The findings of this study would be helpful as basic data for ergonomically designing gas-range or similar products.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate accuracy of paper-pencil test used in surveying control-display stereotype. For doing this, three paper-pencil tests dealing with stereotype for control-burner relationship of four-stove gas range, in which three different gas range images were provided, were performed and the results were compared with those of existing studies. The result of the paper-pencil test using simple image composed of line and circle was different from that of the real model simulation, while the results of the other two tests and a previous study providing more realistic images were the same as that of the real model simulation. Furthermore, the proportion of responses coinciding with the real model simulation increased as images used became closer to real range. It is concluded that the paper-pencil tests well designed using realistic images may produce the same stereotype as the real model simulation.
