  • The effects of the statistical properties of the Coulomb friction coefficients on the dynamic responses of a galloping quadruped robot are investigated in this paper. In general, the Coulomb friction coefficients are assumed to be deterministic for a controller design to achieve required motion characteristics. However, the friction coefficients between the ground and the robot legs are not constant in reality. Therefore, statistical characteristics of the friction coefficients need to be considered for a multi-body modeling of the robot galloping on the ground. The effects of the statistical properties on the dynamic responses of the quadruped robots are investigated.

  • In many applications (e,g., identification of non-destructive testing signal and biomedical signal and multiscale analysis of image), it is of interest to analyze and identify phenomena occurring at the different scales. The recently introduced wave let transforms provide a time-scale decomposition of signals that offers the possibility of such signals. However, there is no corresponding statistical properties to development of multiscale statistical signal processing. In this paper, we derive such properties of random signals in wavelet domain.

  • In recent years, theoretical properties of Bayesian nonparametric survival models have been studied and the conclusion is that although there are pathological cases the popular prior processes have the desired asymptotic properties, namely, the posterior consistency and the Bernstein-von Mises theorem. In this study, through a simulation experiment, we study the finite sample properties of the Bayes estimator and compare it with the frequentist estimators. To our surprise, we conclude that in most situations except that the prior is highly concentrated at the true parameter value, the Bayes estimator performs worse than the frequentist estimators.

  • We investigate some statistical properties of several dierence-based error variance estimators in nonparametric regression model. Most of existing dierence-based methods are developed under asymptotical properties. Our focus is on the exact form of mean and variance for the lag-k dierence-based estimator and the second-order dierence-based estimator in a nite sample size. Our approach can be extended to Tong's estimator (2005) and be helpful to obtain optimal k.

  • This paper presents another system of multi-level skip-lot sampling plan, which can directly retum to normal inspection from any skpping inspection level when a sudden shift for the worse in the process mean occurs. All the other properties of the proposed sampling plan are similar to those of the Choi's(1993) plan. The formula of the poerating characteristic function for the proposed n-level skip-lot sampling plan is derived. Sone poerating characteristic properties for the proposed plan are graphically compared with those of the Choi's plan.

  • This paper is concerned with the asymptotic properties of the least absolute deviation estimators for the nonlinear regression model when dependent variables are subject to censoring time, and proposed the simple and practical sufficient conditions for the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the least absolute deviation estimators in censored regression model. Some desirable asymptotic properties including the asymptotic relative efficiency of proposed model with respect to standard model are given.

  • By using the reference data, the empirical equations which describe the interrelationships of explosion properties and physical properties of n-chlorinated hydrocarbons have been derived. The properties which have been correlated are the lower and upper explosive limits, the stoichiometric coefficients, the heats of combustion, the carbon numbers. Also, the new equations using the mathematical and statistical methods for predicting the temperature dependence of lower explosive limits(LEL) of chlorinated hydrocarbons on the basis of the literature data are proposed. The fire and explosion properties calculated by the proposed equations in this research were a good agrement with literature data within a few A.A.P.E.(Average Absolute Percent Error) and A.A.D.(Average Absolute Deviation.) From a given explosive properties, by using the proposed equations, it is possible to predict to the fire and explosion characteristics for the other chlorinated hydrocarbons.

  • With the aim to investigate the statistical properties and the connection between thermal and non-thermal properties of the ICM in galaxy clusters, we have developed a statistical magneto-turbulent model which describes, at the same time, the evolution of the thermal and non-thermal emission from galaxy clusters. In particular, starting from the cosmological evolution of clusters, we follow cluster. mergers, calculate the spectrum of the magnetosonic waves generated in the ICM during these mergers, the evolution of relativistic electrons and the resulting synchrotron and Inverse Compton spectra. We show that the broad band (radio and hard x-ray) non-thermal spectral properties of galaxy clusters can be well accounted for by our model for viable values of the parameters (here we adopt a EdS cosmology).

  • 3D-PTV measurement was conducted on the wake of a sphere. The Reynolds number is 1130 with the diameter(d=30mm). The measurement system consisted of three CCD cameras, an image grabber, an Ar-Ion laser and a host computer. An eigenvalue analysis was introduced for the analysis on the wake. Statistical turbulent properties were quantitatively clarified using the time-consecutive instantaneous three-dimensional vectors obtained by the 3D-PTV system. The spatial distributions of the sphere wake showed strong relations with spiral motions of the vortcies shedded from the surface of the sphere.

  • A statistical evaluation method was proposed to evaluate mechanical properties by using small specimens and nano-indentation for irradiation study. The method is empirically based on nano-indentation which values are statistically treated. The nano-indentation in function of indentation depth (h) is expressed using the variation factor V(h). Statistical parameters of the indentation are given by histograms. Analytical and experimental relation between histograms of phase dimension distribution and parameters V(h) and G(h) is considered using the condition of additivity of phases' microhardness. The method is applied to estimate mechanical properties of irradiated materials.
