  • In this paper, we study half lightlike submanifolds M of an indefinite Kaehler manifold $\bar{M}$ of quasi-constant curvature such that the characteristic vector field ${\zeta}$ of $\bar{M}$ is tangent to M. First, we provide a new result for such a half lightlike submanifold. Next, we investigate a statical half lightlike submanifold M of $\bar{M}$ subject such that (1) the screen distribution S(TM) is totally umbilical or (2) M is screen conformal.

  • In this paper, we study the curvature of a semi-Riemannian manifold $\tilde{M}$ of quasi-constant curvature admits some half lightlike submanifolds M. The main result is two characterization theorems for $\tilde{M}$ admits extended screen homothetic and statical half lightlike submanifolds M such that the curvature vector field of $\tilde{M}$ is tangent to M.

  • The stability curves are very important data to decide the seaworthiness of all kinds of ships among waves. Both statical and dynamical stability curves on a rectangular coordinate system have broadly been handled at ship yards or at the government concerned, up to data. As concerns a method of obtaining a statical stability curve on polar coordinate system, the papers were presented once. Also, it is of use to research the dynamical stability curve on polar coordinate system. Author treated of the dynamical stability curve by four different methods, and tried to set the stability indicator inboard, adopted those proposals, in order to give some aids for good navigation on the sea. Fig. 1. shows a drawing method in case of the position of centre of buoyancy can be previously pointed out on the line corresponding to its inclination. Fig. 2. shows a method used a statical stability curve on polar coordinate. Fig. 3. shows a method obtained by the most simplified means. Fig. 4. shows dynamical stability curve made by geometrical expression method, instead of dynamical lever. A simple stability indicator which was mechanized above characteristics is attempted by author as shown Fig. 5 and Fig.6. It is demanded at hand, for more advanced improvement of such indicator.

  • The auther presents two simplified methods of stability analysis for small vessels. The paper includes a brief review of some excellent papers recently published. The righting arm and moment of inertia of trimmed waterplane resulted from two methods are compared with. The conclusion is reached that CTTM is more adequate than CTM to ensure statical stability for vessels.

  • This paper investigates the change of structural characteristics of steel cable-stayed bridges after cable failure. Cables, considered as the intermediate supports of cable-stayed bridges, can break or fail for several reasons, such as fire, direct vehicle clash accident, extreme weather conditions, and fatigue of cable or anchorage. Also, the replacement of cables can cause temporary disconnection. Because of the structural characteristics with various geometric nonlinearities of cable-stayed bridges, cable failure may cause significant change to the structural state and ultimate behavior. Until now, the characteristics of structural behavior after cable failure have rarely been studied. In this study, rational cable failure analysis is suggested to trace the new equilibrium with structural configuration after the cable failure. Also, the sequence of ultimate analysis for the structure that suffers cable failure is suggested, to study the change of ultimate behavior and load carrying capacity under specific live load conditions. Using these analysis methods, the statical behavior after individual cable failure is studied based on the change of structural configuration, and distribution of internal forces. Also, the change of the ultimate behavior and load carrying capacity under specific live load conditions is investigated, using the proposed analysis method. According to the study, significant change of the statical behavior and ultimate capacity occurs although just one cable fails.

  • The high-speed train enjoys widespread acceptance as environment-friendly means of medium- to long-distance transportation. The pursuit of higher speed and lighter weight in railroad vehicles has engendered higher noise level. In particular, the environmental noise places many restrictions in the operation of high-speed railroad vehicles. This research investigates the effect of installing a skirt onto a high-speed train bogie with the top speed of 400 km/hr and using High Speed EMU for the purpose of reducing the environmental noise. In order to analyze the effect of the interior noise and environmental noise due to installation of the skirt, sound level is calculated using the Ray method and Statical Energy Analysis method. The numerical calculation predicts a reduction of approximately 2 dB in the environmental noise level, but at the cost of increase of approximately 2.5 dB in the interior noise level of the vehicle.

  • The equilibrium molecular-dynamic simulations have been performed to estimate the properties of the three kinds of fluids confined between two plates that are separated by 1.086 nm; included in the statical properties are the density distribution and the static structure, and the autocorrelation velocity function in the dynamic property. Three kinds of fluids considered in this study are the Lennard-Jones fluid, water and aqueous sodium-chloride solution. The water molecules are modeled by using the SPC/E model and the ions by the charged Lennard-Jones particle model. To treat the water molecules, we combined the quaternion coordinates with Euler angles. We also proposed a plausible algorithm to assign the initial position and direction of molecules. The influence of polarization of water molecules as well as the presence of ions in the solution on the properties will be addressed in this study. In addition, we performed the non-equilibrium molecular-dynamic simulation to compute the flow velocity for the case with the gravitational force acting on molecules.
