  • Due to the difficulties in numerical generation of random fields that satisfy not only the probabilistic distribution but the spectral characteristics as well. it is relatively hard to find an exact response variability of a structural response with a specific random field which has its features in the spatial and spectral domains. In this study. focusing on the fact that the random field assumes a constant over the domain under consideration when the correlation distance tends to infinity, a semi-theoretical solution of response variability is proposed for in-plane and plate bending structures. In this procedure, the probability density function is used directly resulting in a semi-exact solution for the random field in the state of random variable. It is particularly noteworthy that the proposed methodology provides response variability for virtually any type of probability density functions.

  • Spectral clustering has become a typical and efficient clustering method used in a variety of applications. The critical step of spectral clustering is the similarity measurement, which largely determines the performance of the spectral clustering method. In this paper, we propose a novel spectral clustering algorithm based on the local similarity measure of shared neighbors. This similarity measurement exploits the local density information between data points based on the weight of the shared neighbors in a directed k-nearest neighbor graph with only one parameter k, that is, the number of nearest neighbors. Numerical experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms other existing spectral clustering algorithms in terms of the clustering performance measured via the normalized mutual information, clustering accuracy, and F-measure. As an example, the proposed method can provide an improvement of 15.82% in the clustering performance for the Soybean dataset.

  • Based on random vibration theory, a procedure for calculating the dynamic response of the tall building to time-dependent random excitation is developed. In this paper, the fluctuating along- wind load is assumed as time-dependent random process described by the time-independent random process with deterministic function during a short duration of time. By deterministic function A(t)=1-exp($-{\beta}t$), the absolute value square of oscillatory function is represented from author's studies. The time-dependent random response spectral density is represented by using the absolute value square of oscillatory function and equivalent wind load spectrum of Solari. Especially, dynamic mean square response of the tall building subjected to fluctuating wind loads was derived as analysis function by the Cauchy's Integral Formula and Residue Theorem. As analysis examples, there were compared the numerical integral analytic results with the analysis fun. results by dynamic properties of the tall uilding.

  • In this paper, we propose simple combining schemes for sensing ATSC digital television signals with spectral correlation density (SCD). The detection algorithms exploiting the cyclostationarity exhibited by the pilot of ATSC digital television signals usually use the SCD value at a given particular frequency. However, we found that non-zero SCDs are found to be distributed over a certain range of frequencies in multipath fading environment. To utilize a set of non-zero SCD values computed in the vicinity of the pilot location, we formulate a class of combining methods in analogy with the maximal ratio combining, the square law combining and the equal gain combining. We show that the proposed simple combining schemes improve the detection performance by 0.5~1.0dB under multipath fading environments.

  • In this paper, we have developed EEG (electroencephalography) analyzer for monitoring the condition of brain in neurological surgery. This system is composed of EEG amplifier. personal-computer and BSP (Digital Signal Processor). By parallel processing of DSP, this system can analysis the power spectral density change of EEG in real-time and display the CSA(Compressed Spectral Array) and CDSA(Color Density Spectral array) of EEG. This system was tested by real EEG and showed the change of EEG.

  • In multivariate analysis, the inversion formula of the Stieltjes transform is used to find the density of a spectral distribution of random matrices of sample covariance type. Let $B_{n}\;=\;\frac{1}{n}Y_{m}^{T}T_{m}Y_{m}$ where $Ym\;=\;[Y_{ij}]_{m{\times}n}$ is with independent, identically distributed entries and $T_m$ is an $m{\times}m$ symmetric nonnegative definite random matrix independent of the $Y_{ij}{^{\prime}}s$. In the present paper, using the inversion formula of the Stieltjes transform, we will find the density function of the limiting distribution of $B_n$ away from zero.

  • This paper describes a real time algorithm for blood flow estimation of LDF(laser Doppler flowmeter). Many algorithms for blood flow estimation are using power spectral density of Doppler signal by blood flow. In these research, the fast Fourier transformation is used to estimate power spectral density. This is a block processing procedure rather than real time processing. The algorithm in this paper used parametric spectral estimation. This has real time capability by estimation of AR(autoregressive) parameters sample by sample, and has smoothing power spectrum. Also, the frequency resolution is not limited by number of samples used to estimate AR parameter. Another advantage of this algorithm is that AR model enhance SNR.

  • The study of coupled relaxation for methyl spin system in 2,6-dichlorotoluene was performed on the basis of the magnetization mode formalism. Using five initial perturbing pulse sequences, eight experimntal data sets were obtained, which were fitted with theoretical expressions with nine spectral density parameters. The same experiment was carried out at both 50.3 MHz and 125.6 MHz in carbon frequency. The measured spectral densities at both fields are similar in the exception of that related with carbon random field term. Furthermore, from the dipolar spectral density, the physical values may be extracted depending on the model of molecular reorientation. For example, it was assumed that the molecular framework undergoes asymmetric diffusive rotational process and methyl group reorients by either diffusive rotation about its symmetry axis or jump among internal rotational potential minima.

  • In this paper, it was studied about the red-sensitive layer. UV-Vis data of the dye at monomeric and J-state were considered with respect to their performance(contrast, density and fog) in photographic emulsion. The sensitizing effect of the dye is found to be strongly structuredependent. Naphthothiazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as red-sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.

  • This paper analytically proves the equivalence between two main oscillator phase noise theories, which are based on the ISF, and Floquet vector, respectively. For this purpose, this study obtains the power spectral density matrix from the ISF-based phase noise theory. As a result, one can prove that the power spectral density matrix obtained from the ISF-based phase noise theory is essentially equivalent to the power spectral density matrix presented by the Floquet vector-based phase noise theory, which manifests the equivalence of the two main theories. This study is intended to provide deeper insight into the relations between the two main theories.
