  • Hong and Nel in [8] obtained a number of spectral dualities between a cartesian closed topological category X and a category of algebras of suitable type in X in accordance with the original formalism of Porst and Wischnewsky[12]. In this paper, there arises a dual adjointness S $\vdash$ C between the category X = Lim of limit spaces and that A of MV-algebras in X. We firstly show that the spectral duality: $S(A)^{op}{\simeq}C(X^{op})$ holds for the dualizing object K = I = [0,1] or K = 2 = {0, 1}. Secondly, we study a duality between the category of Tychonoff spaces and the category of semi-simple MV-algebras. Furthermore, it is shown that for any $X\;\in\;Lim\;(X\;{\neq}\;{\emptyset})\;C(X,\;I)$ is densely embedded into a cube $I^/H/$, where H is a set.

  • We present a duality between the category of compact Riemannian spin manifolds (equipped with a given spin bundle and charge conjugation) with isometries as morphisms and a suitable "metric" category of spectral triples over commutative pre-$C^*$-algebras. We also construct an embedding of a "quotient" of the category of spectral triples introduced in [5] into the latter metric category. Finally we discuss a further related duality in the case of orientation and spin-preserving maps between manifolds of fixed dimension.

  • This paper presents a new shape-based algorithm using affine category shape model for object category recognition and model learning. Affine category shape model is a graph of interconnected nodes whose geometric interactions are modeled using pairwise potentials. In its learning phase, it can efficiently handle large pose variations of objects in training images by estimating 2-D homography transformation between the model and the training images. Since the pairwise potentials are defined on only relative geometric relationship betweenfeatures, the proposed matching algorithm is translation and in-plane rotation invariant and robust to affine transformation. We apply spectral matching algorithm to find feature correspondences, which are then used as initial correspondences for RANSAC algorithm. The 2-D homography transformation and the inlier correspondences which are consistent with this estimate can be efficiently estimated through RANSAC, and new correspondences also can be detected by using the estimated 2-D homography transformation. Experimental results on object category database show that the proposed algorithm is robust to pose variation of objects and provides good recognition performance.

  • With rapid land development, land category should be updated on a regular basis. However, manual field surveys have certain limitations. In this study, attempts were made to extract a feature vector considering spectral signature by parcel, PIMP (Percent Imperviousness), texture, and VIs (Vegetation Indices) based on RapidEye satellite image and cadastral map. A total of nine land categories in which feature vectors were significantly extracted from the images were selected and classified using SVM (Support Vector Machine). According to accuracy assessment, by comparing the cadastral map and classification result, the overall accuracy was 0.74. In the paddy-field category, in particular, PO acc. (producer's accuracy) and US acc. (user's accuracy) were highest at 0.85 and 0.86, respectively.

  • We investigate the relation between the notion of e-exactness, recently introduced by Akray and Zebary, and some functors naturally related to it, such as the functor P : Mod-R → Spec(Mod-R), where Spec(Mod-R) denotes the spectral category of Mod-R, and the localization functor with respect to the singular torsion theory.

  • In this paper, we form the basis of the abstract theory for constructing the $K{\ddot{u}}nneth$ spectral sequence for a complex of Banach spaces. As the category of Banach spaces is not abelian, several difficulties occur and hinder us from applying the usual method of homological algebra directly. The most notable facts are the image of a morphism of Banach spaces is not necessarily a Banach space, and also the closed summand of a Banach space need not be a topological direct summand. So, we consider some conditions and categorical terms that fit the category of Banach spaces to modify the familiar method of homological algebra.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the cross-linguistic difference in the spectral movement pattern of American English and Korean vowels. Eight American vowels /a/, /e/, /$\varepsilon$/, /i/, /I/, /o/, /u/, and /$\mho$/, and five Korean vowels, /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/ and /u/ in a fricative-vowel environment produced by adult speakers of each language were analyzed. The spectral movement patterns of the first two formant frequency values were measured and analyzed. The results showed that Korean vowels had minimal spectral movement, both in F1 and F2 values, as compared to American English vowels. Moreover, no consistent direction of movement was found in the three corner Korean vowels, while American English vowels showed consistent direction of movement for each vowel of the same phonemic category.

  • This paper proposes classification of multi-spectral satellite image based on fusion of fuzzy G-K (Gustafson-Kessel) algorithm and PCM algorithm. The suggested algorithm establishes the initial cluster centers by selecting training data from each category, and then executes the fuzzy G-K algorithm. PCM algorithm perform using classification result of the fuzzy G-K algorithm. The classification categories are allocated to the corresponding category when the results of classification by fuzzy G-K algorithm and PCM algorithm belong to the same category. If the classification result of two algorithms belongs to the different category, the pixels are allocated by Bayesian maximum likelihood algorithm. Bayesian maximum likelihood algorithm uses the data from the interior of the average intracluster distance. The information of the pixels within the average intracluster distance has a positive normal distribution. It improves classification result by giving a positive effect in Bayesian maximum likelihood algorithm. The proposed method is applied to IKONOS and Landsat TM remote sensing satellite image for the test. As a result, the overall accuracy showed a better outcome than individual Fuzzy G-K algorithm and PCM algorithm or the conventional maximum likelihood classification algorithm.

  • The across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings with various geometric dimensions were investigated through a series of wind tunnel testing. The lift coefficients, power spectral densities and vertical correlation coefficients of the across-wind loads were analyzed and discussed in details. Taking the side ratio and terrain category as key variables, empirical formulas for estimating the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings were proposed on the basis of the wind tunnel testing results. Comparisons between the predictions by the empirical formulas and the wind tunnel test results were made to verify the accuracy and applicability of the proposed formulas. Moreover, a simplified procedure to evaluate the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings was derived from the proposed formulas. This study aims to provide a simple and reliable way for the estimation of across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the syllable structures of ten Korean numeric sounds produced by ten students. Each sound was normalized by its maximum intensity value and divided into onset, vowel, and coda sections after finding abrupt or visible changes in energy values or cumulative values of lower spectral energy at each pulse point using four Praat scripts. Then, segmental durations and cumulative intensity values of each syllable were obtained to find a statistical summary of the syllable structure. Intensity values at 100 proportional time points were also collected to compare the ten sounds. Results showed as follows: Firstly, there was not much deviation from the grand average duration and intensity for the majority of the sounds except the two diphthongal sounds on which their boundary points varied among the speakers. Secondly, the onset point for the CV or CVC category sounds and the boundary between the vowel and the nasal or lateral sound were easy to identify, which may be automatically traced later. Thirdly, there seems some tradeoff among the sections maintaining the same total duration per each syllable. Further studies on syllables with various onsets or codas would be desirable to make a general statement on the Korean syllable structure.
