The library tour program is a new type of cultural program that was first introduced and operated by J City, and library tourists travel to specialized libraries in the city according to a set course and experience various experiences. This study aims to build a customized course recommendation model that considers the characteristics of individual participants in addition to the existing fixed group travel format so that more users can enjoy the opportunity to participate in library tours. To this end, the characteristics of library travelers were categorized to establish traveler personas, and library evaluation items and evaluation criteria were established accordingly. We selected 22 libraries targeted by the library travel program and measured library data through actual visits. Based on the collected data, we derived the characteristics of suitable libraries and developed a persona-based library tour course recommendation model using a decision tree algorithm. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed recommendation model, we build a mobile application mockup, and conducted user evaluations with actual library users to identify satisfaction and improvements to the developed model.

The Aim of this study lead to facilitating schemes of cultural program in public libraries. In order to present schemes, We analyzed status of operating cultural programs in domestic and outside the country. Research methods are literature investigation, survey and case analysis. As a result of this research, facilitating for cultural programs in public libraries is presented five schemes. We would like to use the result of this research as basic data for supporting policy of cultural program in public libraries.

This paper aims to seek ways of optimizing the operations of Collaborative Digital Reference Service(CDRS) in Korea. CDRS tries to specialize the reference service through world-wide collaborative service. In this study seven international CDRS services including "QuestionPoint" operated by ALA and one national service, "Ask a Librarian" by the National Library of Korea were surveyed. A focused analysis of CDRS in Korea shows not only a sharp increase in use by the public, but also much application in research and academic activities by university students and workers.

The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation indicators for academic libraries in Korea. The evaluation model developed in this research consists of three elements:(1) Confirmation of evaluation methods, procedures and criteria,(2) Development of qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators, and(3) Assessment of the applicability and feasibility of those indicators. Evaluation indicators were developed to measure a basic state, a common use of library resources, specialized services, and user satisfaction for academic libraries. To test the feasibility and applicability of those evaluation indicators, a pilot assessment of academic libraries was conducted in 2010.

This study rigorously examined uncertainty in the TMI-1 benchmark within the Uncertainty Analysis in Modeling (UAM) benchmark suite using the STREAM/RAST-K two-step method. It presents two pivotal advancements in computational techniques: (1) Development of an uncertainty quantification (UQ) module and a specialized library for the pin-based pointwise energy slowing-down method (PSM), and (2) Application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for UQ. To evaluate the new computational framework, we conducted verification tests using SCALE 6.2.2. Results demonstrated that STREAM's performance closely matched SCALE 6.2.2, with a negligible uncertainty discrepancy of ±0.0078% in TMI-1 pin cell calculations. To assess the reliability of the PSM covariance library, we performed verification tests, comparing calculations with Calvik's two-term rational approximation (EQ 2-term) covariance library. These calculations included both pin-based and fuel assembly (FA-wise) computations, encompassing hot zero-power and hot full-power operational conditions. The uncertainties calculated using both the EQ 2-term and PSM resonance treatments were consistent, showing a deviation within ±0.054%. Additionally, the data compression process yielded compression ratios of 88.210% and 92.926% for on-the-fly and data-saving approaches, respectively, in TMI fuel assembly calculations. In summary, this study provides a comprehensive explanation of the PCA process used for UQ calculations and offers valuable insights into the robustness and reliability of newly developed computational methods, supported by rigorous verification tests.

A status analysis and focus group interviews with librarians, school librarians and experts were conducted to find a new direction for revitalization of 19 public libraries affiliated to the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education in the context of the advent of a new educational environment following the 4th industrial revolution. Through the research method, the knowledge experience edu library through the library community school was set as the vision of a public library belonging to the Chungnam Office of Education. The direction of public library service as an edu-library was divided into specialization as an educational library, life cycle customized service, knowledge experience-oriented service, and 4th industrial revolution intelligent information society service. Based on the traditional functions of the library, the space that the future public library should have was presented as an experiential learning space. In this study, a specialized direction for strengthening the educational function of libraries belonging to the Chungnam Office of Education was presented, which will contribute to finding ways to cooperate with schools and school libraries, and will provide a basis for preparing directions for libraries belonging to other regional offices of education.

The purpose of this research is to enhance document recognition system which is essential for developing full-text retrieval system of the document image data stored in the digital library of a public institution. To achieve this purpose, the main tasks of this research are: 1) analyzing the document image data and then developing its image preprocessing technology and document structure analysis one, 2) building its specialized knowledge base consisting of document layout and property, character model and word dictionary, respectively. In addition, developing the management tool of this knowledge base, the document recognition system is able to handle the various types of the document image data. Currently, we developed the prototype system of document recognition which is combined with the specialized knowledge base and the library of document structure analysis, respectively, adapted for the document image data housed in National Archives of Korea. With the results of this research, we plan to build up the test-bed and estimate the performance of document recognition system to maximize the utilization of full-text retrieval system.

This study aims to propose a set of guidelines for the development of university librarians' continuing education program. It examines previous academic literature regarding such programs both in Korea and overseas, as well as the present condition and demands of Korean university librarians. A survey was conducted by systematically sampling 33.3% of all university librarians nationwide and asking about their experiences with the existing continuing education program(e. g., general satisfaction level, program topics, program administration, evaluation methods, outreach methods, reasons for participation). The survey results show that the participants: (1) had a relatively low satisfaction level; (2) strongly demand programs focusing on library promotion, management of information resources and knowledge content, and skills to adiust to the rapidly changing library environment; (3) prefer a week-long course focused on specialized subjects and skill development; and (4) cite more specialized education content, the establishment of a support system, and diversified education levels as factors that would further their interest in the continuing education program.

Knowledge information resources produced by policy research institutes were categorized into knowledge information resources derived from research processes, knowledge information resources derived from research results, and knowledge information resources processed from research results, respectively. The names of these knowledge information resources and the metadata items were investigated on 13 policy research institute websites. In addition, the study examined the provision status of 8 Knowledge information resources specialized by type on the websites and confirmed that they work as knowledge resource management systems for each corresponding area. The results of the study suggest constructing a collective search system for research results based on the same research topics, developing a knowledge map of policy information, compressing reports for policy makers, building subject expert databases, producing video reports, developing metadata standards, and creating statistical databases and indicators by subject areas.

This preliminary study examined the degree programs in data science at the School of Information in the States. The focus of this study was the data science degrees offered at the School of Information awarded by the 64 Library and Information Science (LIS) programs accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) in 2022. In addition, this study examined the degrees, majors, minors, specialized tracks, and certificates in data science, as well as the potential careers after earning a data science degree. Overall, eight Schools of Information (iSchools) offered 12 data science degrees. Data science courses at the School of Information focus on topics such as introduction to data science, information retrieval, data mining, database, data and humanities, machine learning, metadata, research methods, data analysis and visualization, internship/capstone, ethics and security, user, policy, and curation and management. Most schools did not offer traditional LIS courses. After earning the data science degree in the School of Information, the potential careers included data scientists, data engineers and data analysts. The researcher hopes the findings of this study can be used as a starting point to discuss the directions of data science programs from the perspectives of the information field, specifically the degrees, majors, minors, specialized tracks and certificates in data science.
