  • Some optimal designs and data analysis methods based on a Gaussian spatial linear model for computer simulation experiments are considered. For designs of computer experiments, Latin-hypercube designs and some optimal designs are combined. A two-stage computational (2-points exchange and Newton-type) algorithm for finding the optimal Latin-hypercube design is presented. The spatial prediction model which was discussed by Sacks, Welch, Mitchell and Wynn(1989) for computer experiments, is used for analysis of the simulated data. Moreover, a method of contructing sequential (optimal) Latin-hypercube designs is considered. An application of this approach to the quality improvement and optimization of the integrated circuit design via the main-effects plot and the sequential experimental strategy is presented.

  • The present study suggests an analytical method to overcome the spatial problems that traditional hedonic methods have. The concept of overlapping neighborhoods is introduced in order to solve the problems of global parameter estimate methods that treat the whole city by the gross. Moreover, a 3rd party program for the tight coupling of GIS and statistics is developed in order to explore hedonic methods efficiently. By using these, this study analyses the spatial variation of location variables that affect the real estate price. The results show that the influences of urban centers do not reach to the whole city, but only to the catchment areas of them. And the coefficients of location variables are different depending on the space. The tight coupling of GIS and statistics offers a powerful tool in analysing the real estate price efficiently.

  • This Study aimed to construction the plan of the statistics for national greenhouse gas inventories of international standards. Currently, the statistics of the greenhouse gas inventories of South Korea, has a problem that is not able to build the changed information. In previous studies, it has been limited to the construction of the information within each category. In order to solve these problems, targeting Gyeonggi province, we analyzed the land use change by utilizing the various information such as satellite images, KLIS, UPIS. As a result, we suggested the following implementation, classification system of LULUCF category, improvement of accuracy by utilizing satellite images of high resolution, additional research for methodology. Based on these contents, we suggested the construction plan of the statistics for national greenhouse gas inventories(LULUCF sector). Frist, it is necessary to construct of land use change informations for the past 20 years, Then, it need to create the matrix of land use change by utilizing satellite images and various land information systems.

  • Korea, which has the highest pedestrian fatality rate among OECD countries, is making efforts to improve the safe walking environment by enacting laws focusing on pedestrian. Spatial clustering was conducted with scan statistics after examining the social network data related to traffic accidents for children and seniors. The word cloud was used to examine people's recognition Campaigns for children and literature survey for seniors were in main concern. Naedang and Yongsan are the regions with the highest relative risk of weak pedestrian for children and seniors. On the contrary, Bongmu and Beomeo are the lowest relative risk region. Naedang-dong and Yongsan-dong of Daegu Metropolitan City were identified as vulnerable areas for pedestrian safety due to the high risk of pedestrian accidents for children and the elderly. This means that the scan statistics are effective in searching for traffic accident risk areas.

  • SMRs (standardized mortality rates) for major diseases, accidents, cancer are considered in small areas of administrative units such as Eup/Myeon/Dong from years 2005 to 2008. Due to small sample issue in small areas, the precision of directly estimated crude SMR for each area can be low. In this study, we consider the HGLM (hierarchical generalized linear model) with MRF (Markov random field) to account for the spatial correlations among the small areas. The effects of covariates for cause of mortality by Dongs in Seoul and disease maps based on the estimated SMR are presented. The results suggest how we analyze and interpret the difference in mortalities by small areas such as Dongs by revealing the spatial patterns.

  • Single-person households recently have been rapidly increasing and one reason may be the increment in elderly single-person. Since the change of living patterns is relevant to the government policy direction, it is important to understand how single-person households are clustered and which factors have influence on them. In this study, we tried to detect spatial clusters of single-person households and low-income elderly single-person households after adjusting for deprivation index. A recently developed fused lasso for Poisson data was used for data analysis and we provided the details on how to use it in R. From these analysis results, we observed the effect of socioeconomic level on the clusters and explained the reason why spatial clusters are shown after adjusting for deprivation index.

  • The purpose of this research is to measure Quality of Life indices using Factor Analysis and Principle Component Analysis and to analyze the spatial patterns of Quality of life distribution in the Seoul Metropolitan Area in terms of spatial association using spatial statistics and spatial exploratory technique. In order to check the degree of clustering, this study used spatial autocorrelation indices, global Moran's I index. In addition, local scale analysis was conducted using Moran Scatterplot and Local Moran's I to identify the spatial association pattern and the high Quality of life. The analysis based on global statics showed that, in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, QoL Indices had been distributed with positive spatial association. According to the local spatial statistics, the general tendency of clustering H-H clusters which were mainly concentrated on the Seoul, L-H clusters were concentrated on the Kyunggi-Do and L-L Clusters showed the regional extent of lagging behind. However, in case of H-H, L-H Clusters they had been spread out in the Newtown as population increase.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the performance of local spatial autocorrelation techniques in identifying spatial distribution patterns of green spaces. To achieve the objective, this researcher uses satellite image analysis and spatial autocorrelation techniques. The result of the study shows that the LISA cluster map with the spatial outlier cluster is superior to other analytical methods in identifying the spatial distribution pattern of urban green space. This study can contribute to the related fields in that it uses several different research methods than the existing ones. Despite this differentiation and usefulness, this study has limitations in using low-resolution satellite imagery and NDVI among vegetation indices in identifying spatial distribution patterns of green areas. These limitations may be overcome in future studies by using UAV images or by simultaneously using several vegetation indices.

  • We systematized an stratified spatial sample design(SSSD) that uses the adequate stratification criteria such as the shapeness or the dispersion of an interesting region in a spatial population. And we proposed an adaptive searching estimation method in the SSSD to estimate the area of region of interest in two-dimensional surfaces. When wc adopt the proposed adaptive searching estimation method in SSSD, the observing sample size is more decreased than a classical sample design that all the designed sample size is observed. Nevertheless it has been shown that we can produce the moderate result but the efficiency is a slight reduced.

  • This study compares the CEM and SGS methods which are geostatistical stochastic simulation methods for assessing the uncertainty by spatial variability in the estimation of the spatial distribution of probability rainfall. In the stochastic simulations using CEM and SGS, two methods show almost similar results for the reproduction of spatial correlation structure, the statistics (standard deviation, coefficient of variation, interquartile range, and range) of realizations as uncertainty measures, and the uncertainty distribution of basin mean rainfall. However, the CEM is superior to SGS in aspect of simulation efficiency.
