General source location method that use an arrival time differences among sensors is restricted to the composite material and the complex-shaped material. In this study, a bundle-type acoustic sensor composed of 6 pinducers was utilized to determine wave propagation direction and then to estimate source location of the unidirectional GFRP. For the purpose of the study, slowness curve for the material was obtained and made an assumption that the incident waves on pinducers are propagated as a plane wave. According to the results, measured propagation directions of the wave were coincide with theoretical background, however, it was a hassle to determine the source location exactly. But, it is expected that bundle-type sensor gives more accurate results for zone location than generally used acoustic sensors.
In wireless sensor networks, a node that reports information gathered from adjacent assets should relay packets appropriately so that its location context is kept private, and thereby helping ensure the security of the assets that are being monitored. Unfortunately, existing routing methods that counter the local eavesdropping-based tracing deal with a single asset, and most of them suffer from the packet-delivery latency as they prefer to take a separate path of many hops for each packet being sent. In this paper, we propose a routing method, greedy perimeter stateless routing-based source-location privacy with crew size w (GSLP-w), that enhances location privacy of the packet-originating node (i.e., active source) in the presence of multiple assets. GSLP-w is a hybrid method, in which the next-hop node is chosen in one of four modes, namely greedy, random, perimeter, and retreat modes. Random forwarding brings the path diversity, while greedy forwarding refrains from taking an excessively long path and leads to convergence to the destination. Perimeter routing makes detours that avoid the nodes near assets so that they cannot be located by an adversary tracing up the route path. We study the performance of GSLP-w with respect to crew size w (the number of packets being sent per path) and the number of sources. GSLP-w is compared with phantom routing-single path (PR-SP), which is a notable routing method for source-location privacy and our simulation results show that improvements from the point of the ratio of safety period and delivery latency become significant as the number of source nodes increases.

The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of compounded welding by using acoustic emission (AE) signals and doing a source location for weld heat affected zone (HAZ) through tensile testing. This study was carried out an SWS 490A high strength steel for electric shield metal arc welding, SMAW; $CO_2$ gas metal arc welding, GMAW($CO_2$); and gas tungsten arc welding, GTAW/TIG. Data displays are based on the measured parameters of the AE signals, along with environmental variables such as time and load. For instance, Gutenberg-Richter magnitude-frequency relationship (G-R MFR) offers useful b-value in data analysis. Namely event identification, source location gives the X- and Y-coordinates of the AE source. And K-means clustering analysis by Euclidean distance confirmed that was powerful to source location. Generally, strength of welded metal zone was stronger than strength of base metal. As the result, confirmed certainly that fracture is produced in HAZ instead of welded metal zone from source location.

All passenger ships aboard more than 36 passengers are to be able to easily find escape routes when the escape way by fire with flame spread were onboard vessel (incl. Ferry, Passenger, Ro-pax, Inland Ferry) It should be impossible by ordinary emergency lights. The international Maritime Organization (IMO) gives special requirement for luminescent evaluation onboard test procedure and applicable location of low location lighting. In order to maintain the residual light source for a certain time in the low location lighting with a strip-shaped light source, the light source material must be sufficiently exposed to the light due to the proper placement of the escape route. The lighting arrangement influence how maintain low location lighting strip luminescent which measured onboard in connection with what elements are mainly sustain luminescent.

The purpose of this thesis is to reduce of error for source location through acoustic emission(AE) signal, generated elastic wave from crack growth to leak for facility diagnosis. Especially, in order to overcome noise from original signal, this paper proposed enhancement of source location by using noise reduction based on wavelet transform. To evaluate actual performance in experiments, Pencil Lead Break is used crack signal source on the aluminum plate and drain valve of air compressor is used as substitute pressure vessel to generate leak signal. In signal processing, wavelet shrinkage and soft threshold are used to discriminate signal source and then source location techniques have been effectively used with group velocity using material property and time difference between sensor using cross correlation. Source location for crack and leak test have some difference, but the result show that improved 30% with a average length within 10.46mm in crack test and improved 2% compare with average filter in leak test when we applied wavelet transform.
Nowadays, mobile robots have been used to search for uncontrolled radioactive source in indoor environments to avoid radiation exposure for technicians. However, in the indoor environments, especially in the presence of obstacles, how to make the robots with limited sensing capabilities automatically search for the radioactive source remains a major challenge. Also, the source search efficiency of robots needs to be further improved to meet practical scenarios such as limited exploration time. This paper proposes an automatic source search strategy, abbreviated as ACA: the location of source is estimated by a convolutional neural network (CNN), and the path is planned by the A-star algorithm. First, the search area is represented as an occupancy grid map. Then, the radiation dose distribution of the radioactive source in the occupancy grid map is obtained by Monte Carlo (MC) method simulation, and multiple sets of radiation data are collected through the eight neighborhood self-avoiding random walk (ENSAW) algorithm as the radiation data set. Further, the radiation data set is fed into the designed CNN architecture to train the network model in advance. When the searcher enters the search area where the radioactive source exists, the location of source is estimated by the network model and the search path is planned by the A-star algorithm, and this process is iterated continuously until the searcher reaches the location of radioactive source. The experimental results show that the average number of radiometric measurements and the average number of moving steps of the ACA algorithm are only 2.1% and 33.2% of those of the gradient search (GS) algorithm in the indoor environment without obstacles. In the indoor environment shielded by concrete walls, the GS algorithm fails to search for the source, while the ACA algorithm successfully searches for the source with fewer moving steps and sparse radiometric data.
This paper describes real time implementation of subband sound localization system on a floating-point DSP TI TMS320C31. The system determines two dimensional location of an active speaker in a closed room environment with real noise presents. The system consists of an two microphone array connected to TI DSP hosted by PC. The implemented sound localization algorithm is Subband CPSP which is an improved version of traditional CPSP (Cross-Power Spectrum Phase) method. The algorithm first split the input speech signal into arbitrary number of subband using subband filter banks and calculate the CPSP in each subband. It then averages out the CPSP results on each subband and compute a source location estimate. The proposed algorithm has an advantage over CPSP such that it minimize the overall estimation error in source location by limiting the specific band dominant noise to that subband. As a result, it makes possible to set up a robust real time sound localization system. For real time simulation, the input speech is captured using two microphone and digitized by the DSP at sampling rate 8192 hz, 16 bit/sample. The source location is then estimated at once per second to satisfy real-time computational constraints. The performance of the proposed system is confirmed by several real time simulation of the speech at a distance of 1m, 2m, 3m with various speech source locations and it shows over 5% accuracy improvement for the source location estimation.
This paper proposes a topological locating algorithm to determine the location of the power quality event source. This algorithm makes use of the information on the topology of the monitored network and on the direction of PQ events. As a result, the bus incidence matrix is modified using monitor location and the direction matrix is constructed. With this information, the algorithm determines the suspected locations of the PQ events. To reduce suspicious areas, it utilizes event cause and related equipment. In case of line fault event, it calculates the distance from the monitor to the location of event source. The overall algorithm is applied to the IEEE test feeder and accurately identifies the event source location.

Electromagnetic fields, radiated from an intestine-ingested source and propagated through an inhomogeneous human body model, are computed with the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The calculated results obtained at some receiving points vertically placed according to the abdomen of the human body model show unusual dip patterns in the frequency domain. The frequency of this unusual dip varies according to the location of the receiving points. Thus, the relationship between the frequency of the unusual dip and the incident angle of the line-of-sight is analyzed. The effect of the location of an ingested source on the above relationship is also investigated. The slope of the approximately linear relationship is affected by the location of the ingested source.
Based on correlation and least square method, a closed-form algorithm for estimating the location of mixed far-field and near-field source is presented using the Uniform Circular Array (UCA). Recently, for a homogeneous circular arrangement case, a correlation based closed-form algorithm is proposed to estimate 2-D angle (azimuth, elevation) and the extended algorithm is proposed to 3-D location (azimuth, elevation, range). These algorithms assume the far-field source or near-field source only. Therefore, for mixed source localization, the proposed algorithm estimates source location with the assumption of far-field source, and then estimates the range to distinguish the far-field from the near-field source. For both cases, numerical experiments have been performed, which confirmed the validity of the proposed algorithm.
