  • The field instruction is essential to professional social work education. It is important to identify what factors make students' performance improve. 207 social work students who completed the field practicum in their undergraduate course were studied to determine factors associated with performance. The mean score of supervision was 2.6 and of practice performance was 56.7. Especially the score of theory integrated supervision was lowest among 5 supervision factors. Intervention skills and case-management skills were lower than 3 other performance factors. The significant correlation found to exist between supervision and performance. The higher the students' perception of supervision, the higher the students rating of their performance. Contributing most to students' performance was students' perceptions of the extent of supervision, especially theory integrated supervision and agency-based supervision, the extent of discussion about learning contracts, the amount of supervision. And the personal factors like students' gender and supervisors' career duration as a supervisor were found to be another predictors. That is, female students could improve their performance more than male students and more experienced supervisors could not improve students' performance. The findings highlight the importance of supervision and learning contract. Structuring field learning experiences would be needed. The supportive and educative consults for the supervisors, especially for the experienced supervisors, and ongoing efforts to evaluate the field instruction were suggested.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of job satisfaction of South Korean masseurs with visual impairments and what variables predict to this. The work satisfaction model of Social Cognitive Career Theory (Lent Brown, 2006a) was grounded. a total of 221 South Korean masseurs with visual impairments participated in this study. Multiple regression analysis indicated that as masseurs in this study experienced having a better fit with their job regarding their monetary aspects, as they felt efficacious with their massage skills, as they felt more positive, and as they considered their job duties fit their education or skills they learned, their level of job satisfaction was higher. However, fit with their organization values or cultures or how much they get social support from their family, friends, or significant others did not predict their job satisfaction. In addition, the analysis supported the existence of a moderating effect of positive affect on the relationship between subjective fit and job satisfaction, in addition to the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between work related self-efficacy and job satisfaction among study participants. Implications for policy makers, researchers, and career counselors were also provided.

  • The vicious cycle of over-education has been made. That is, higher education enrollment rate is high, but university graduate employment rate is low. To eliminate this cycle and relieve youth unemployment and young people to enter the labor market early, dual education and training system is needed. This dual system can support working and learning in parallel. So, worker can get the opportunity pre-employment and post-learning and improve his/her job skills. Recent MOOC (Massive Open On-line Course), a new form of online education system, has emerged. MOOC combines education, entertainment and social networking, and emphasize the interaction between faculty and student and between students. The educational contents of MOOC are available free of charge. Using newly changed online education environments we can effectively provide knowledge and skills. In technology and engineering education hands-on training is necessary. In order to support work based learning dual system for worker to work and learn in parallel, we should build the multi-learning system to combine the online education and campus hands-on practice.
