Therefore, it is necessary to consider network externality effect that the more value can be obtained by more game users. The authors verified that the influence of the variables like social mass and critical mass, affecting consumers' attitude and WOM. According to the research results, social norm and critical mass have significant influence on positive attitude and WOM intention for online games. Another results verified that social norm and users' attitude affect positive WOM intention directly. • In SNG, actual users enter virtual space with their real identity. They can enter the game space easily and rapidly from the real space and can get out of it easily. For such free crossing between the virtual and the real, every character, space image and game play has symbolic reality. While paying attention to the game play process of SNG such symbolic reality is constructed into the virtual world in the game, this study intends to identify that it follows an order of simulacre by Baudrillard. As the result of analysis, it shows that SNG promotes easy entering the game space while reflecting the reality to the most in the opening part of game play. And, gradually concealing reality, it reaches a pure simulacre step while covering up and distorting absence of the reality. If we compare it with the direct entering the pure similacre step in the existing Online games like MMORPG, we can know that such a game play process according to the similacre order may be the distinct game characteristic of SNG.

  • This study aims to analyze the structure and characteristics of the domestic online game industry using network analysis. In particular, two-mode network analysis is employed to measure the network structure, centrality, and cluster for two types of online game platforms, online games and mobile games, from 1996 to 2014. We also conduct a dynamic analysis to capture the structural changes in the ecosystem by internal and external environmental changes before and after turning point for each online game platform. It is revealed that the online game econsystem has the higher number of clusters and higher concentration ratio than those of mobile game ecosystem. In dynamic analysis, both platforms exhibit similar trends over time with the increasing number of clusters, enlargement of largest cluster's size, and decreasing concentration ratio. This study is expected to provide fruitful implications for strategic decision making of online game companies and policy making for the online game industry.
