This study is to investigate determinants of social workers' career commitment, compare the level of career commitment of social workeks by social work organization, and analyze the effects of career commitment on job attitudes. Social workers working for government agencies and community welfare centers and institutions in Busan city and Gyeongnam province were surveyed using structured questionnaires and 326 usable questionnaires were obtained. The questionnaires were analyzed for job, career, role, and organizational justice characteristics models and comprehensive model using SPSS/PC+.. The results are as follows; the level of social worker's career commitment was relatively high but the level of career commitment of social workers working for government agencies was slightly lower than that of social workers working for private agencies. According to the demographic characteristics, the level of career commitment of males was higher than that of famales. That of older workers was higher than that of younger worker, that of 2nd rank workers was higher than that of 1st rank workers. Task significance, task identity, feedback for the job done, career satisfaction, low role conflict, high distributive justice and interactive justice were related to higher level of career commitment while the skill variety was related to the lower level of career commitment. However, the main determinants differ according to the social work organization. Career commitment affected negatively on the career turnover intention while it affected positively on organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, job involvement, and intrinsic job satisfaction. Therefore, different approaches and systematic measures are needed according to the organization.
Purpose - In this research, we investigate the relationship between the level of information technology utilization, social capital and knowledge management, organization performance. For information and knowledge management, participants' certain level of information technology utilization is required and connections among participants are necessary for performing and for synergy effects. Research design, data, and methodology - Reflecting on these, we empirically analyze the effects of participant's information technology utilization level and social capital on knowledge management and organization achievement for the case of Incheon International Airport. Questionnaire is distributed to the airport employees and collected 221 samples for analyzing. SPSS and AMOS statistic programs are used for analysis. Factor analysis, Credibility adaptability, path analysis, hypotheses are verified. Results - The study research shows as follow. First, the level of IT utilization does affect social capital but does not affect knowledge management. Second, social capital affects both knowledge management and organization achievement. To investigate more about the relationship between the level of IT utilization and knowledge management, we analyzed the control effects of personal characteristics, and findings are, first, employees with longer time service recognize the importance that the level of IT use and knowledge management affect organization achievement more seriously than employees with shorter time service do. Second, employees with shorter time service and younger employees have relatively lesser social capital and participate in knowledge management passively. Third, higher position employees think that the level of IT utilization affects knowledge management while lower position employees do not. Conclusions - The level of IT utilization affects social capital, and social capital affects knowledge management and organization achievement. These results suggest that the level of IT utilization is very important to both organization and each employee. So providing related training and education opportunities or incentives to induce employees to make efforts for higher level of IT utilization and thus to participate in knowledge management more actively is necessary. The level of IT utilization affects social capital which airport employees lack. The one of study results indicates the importance of social capital and for higher competitiveness of the airport social capital should be increased.
This paper examines the level of community solidarity in an administrative district in Seoul, Korea. This paper focuses on the following questions: what is the level of community solidarity in the district? and what are the major predictors of community solidarity?. Using the data from the 2000 community survey about residents' needs conducted by the welfare administration office of the district, this paper attempts to answer the above research questions. In analyzing the effect of community solidarity, this paper focuses on the following four predictor categories: individual characteristics; community related characteristics such as degree of marginalization; community participation, and community problems. Results are as follows: (1) the average of community solidarity is 3.1, using 5 points scale; and (2) the variables such as marginalization and community problem have a negative effect on the level of community solidarity; and (3) community participation has a positive effect on the level of community solidarity. Through the empirical analysis. this paper provides valuable knowledge about the level of community solidarity and effects of community participation, marginalization, and community problem on community solidarity. Finally, this paper discusses implications for effective community practice on the basis of the exploratory findings about community solidarity in Korea.
The objective of this study examined the effect of job characteristics on the job satisfaction of social worker employed by 1st social agency, hospitals. Data were collected by 240 social workers. Based on Hackman and Oldham's(1975) theory of core job characteristics, this study was to defined other element of job characteristics, in social worker's duties, focused on moderating effect of self-confidence for job satisfaction, and compared to social worker's job characteristics between 1st social agency and hospitals. The results of this study were summarized as follows; first, job autonomy, feedback among Hackman and Oldham's 5 core job characteristics showed positive influence on job satisfaction. The other job characteristics found out significantly effected social worker's job satisfaction than Hackman and Oldham's 5 core job characteristics. Second, identities of social worker's job, cognition of professional level, necessity, and self-confidence variables were found to have a statistically significant strong relationship with job satisfaction of 1st setting social worker. The other side, necessity, self-confidence, sex, social worker's academic career variables positive influenced medical social worker's job satisfaction. Third, the moderating variables which had significant difference among social worker's working conditions. 1st setting social worker's self-confidence partial moderated the effect of job characteristics on social worker's job satisfaction. But, medical social worker's self-confidence not moderated the effect of job characteristics on job satisfaction. As a result, Social worker's job satisfaction depended on job characteristics and self-confidence. Therefore, to assure the job satisfaction, redesign for social worker's job characteristics, reinforced their self-confidence. Staff-development education program, supportive environment, supervision program is strongly recommended.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of subjective class consciousness on life satisfaction. This research aimed to not only analyze the relative explanatory power, but also the influence of satisfaction of life within the socioeconomic status where the elderly consider themselves to be an integral part. The elderly's satisfaction in life was analyzed in comparison with demographic characteristics such as gender and age. The correlations of objective socioeconomic characteristics such as income level and education level were also observed. For this purpose, the Korea Labor Panel 17th data (2014) was used to conduct a one-way batch distribution analysis and a hierarchical regression analysis. It was seen that there was a correlation in the Korean elderly in terms of class consciousness and life satisfaction. The elderly with a lower subjective class consciousness showed lower life satisfaction. The relative influences were stronger than the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the elderly, and the explanatory power was much higher than the objective income levels. These results show that the subjective perception of their socioeconomic status has a significant influence on the level of life satisfaction of the Korean elderly, independent of the objective income level.

The present research investigated the relationship between social competence and behaviour problems of children with mental retardation. Participants were 73 from both regular and special education schools. Social competence and behaviour problems were measured using the Teacher-Child Rating Scale. An important findings of this study described as the following. First, there were no significant differences in social competence and behaviour problems between boys and girls. Second, there were moderate significant differences in social competence between lower and higher grade children with mental retardation. Children who are higher grade had a significantly more social competence when compared with children who are lower grade. But there are no significant differences in behaviour problems between lower and higher grade. Third, there were moderate significant differences in social competence between lower and higher IQ children with mental retardation. Children who are higher IQ had a significantly higher level of social competence and significantly lower level of behaviour problems, when compared with children who are lower IQ. Forth, there were moderate significant differences in social competence between the regular schools and special education groups. Children who attended special education schools had a significantly higher level of social competence and significantly lower level of behaviour problems, when compared with children who attended regular schools. Fifth, social competence of children with mental retardation was negatively related to behaviour problems. These findings suggest that characteristics of social competence and behaviour problems of students with mental retardation should be considered in order to successfully implement social competence interventions of students with mental retardation.
The purpose of this study is to propose the factors affecting collaboration between community nurses and social workers in Korea. Data that is used in this study, were collected from 295 provider respondents by questionnaire, additionally from telephone survey and secondary data review. This study focuses on the working relationship between professionals in the field of health and social care. Based on the literature review, this study proposes a conceptual framework for collaboration between nurses and social workers in community health and social care. The dependent variable in this study is collaboration. It reveals whether or not the inter-professional works and shows the level of collaboration. The independent variables are categorized in: the client characteristics (frailty of client, client-provider relationship); the provider characteristics (specialization, perception of interdependence, perception of the other professional); the organization characteristics (closeness of the other professional, autonomy, on-the-job training, evaluation-reward); and the community characteristics (urbanization, capacity of resources). Major findings are as follows: First, the factors that appear to have the strongest impact on whether or not inter-professional working of respondent sampled are: the perception of other professional; the perception of interdependence; closeness of, the, other professional; and the frailty of client. Secondly, the factors that found to have the most significant effect on level of cooperation are: the perception of, the other professional; on-the-job training; evaluation-reward; and the closeness of the other professional.
Agent-based modeling and simulation (ABMS) is used to model of market and social phenomena by utilizing agents' fine-grained behaviors and interactions that cannot be implemented in a conventional simulation. However, ABMS represents irrational agents and hinders the achievement of individual or overall goals since ABMS is based on agent-based software, which follows the principle of rationality at the knowledge level [1]. This problem was solved in the agent-based software engineering (ABSE) field by using behavior laws for the social level [2]. However, they still do not propose the specific development methodology for how to develop the social level in a systematic way. Therefore, in order to propose agent-based modeling and simulation methods that reflect the behavior laws of social level characteristics, our study used the Tropos that can combine ABSE and social behavior laws for the presentation of concrete tasks and deliverables for each development step by step. In addition, the proposed method will be specified through experiments with specific application examples and case studies on the self-adaptive smart grid and the military domain system.
This study is designed to explore the relationship between the level of housing satisfaction and housing values, as well as family characteristics and characteristics of residence. Questionnaires are administered to 526 adolescents from the four residential areas in Kwangju. Most of the adolescents are satisfied with their housing environment, especially indoors, however, they show a lower level of satisfaction toward the appearance and organization of the unit plan. It is found that the level of the safety, comfortability and social values predicted a meaningful variance in the level of housing satisfaction. Those with a higher degree of safety and social values tend to be associated with stronger housing satisfaction, whereas those with lower comfortability values are more associated with stronger housing satisfaction. Groups with higher household incomes are more likely to be satisfied with their housing environment. Groups living within a younger and larger house are more likely to be satisfied with their housing environment. Also, owners tend to show a stronger degree of housing satisfaction than renters.
The purpose of this study is to explore characteristics of engineering students' Interpersonal Problems, Emotional Clarity, and Empathic Ability compared with humanities and social sciences students. A total of 739 college students participated in the study (459 enginerring students and 280 humanities and social sciences students). We tested research question by employing the t-test. The result showed that engineering students have higher level of clarity of feelings, perspective taking, empathic concern and lower level of attention to feelings, personal distress than humanities and social sciences students. Moreover, engineering students showed lower level of cold, socially avoidant, exploitable problems than humanities and social sciences students. We dicussed that programs aiming at developing engineering students' emotional awareness and improving their interpersonal relationships should be provided.
