  • In the early days of laser invention, it was simply used as a measuring tool, but as lasers became more common, they became an indispensable processing tool in the industry. Short-wavelength lasers are used to make patterns on wafers used in semiconductors depending on the wavelength, such as CO2 laser, YAG laser, green laser, and UV laser. At first, the hole of the PCB board mainly used for electronic parts was not thin and the hole size was large, so a mechanical drill was used. However, in order to realize product miniaturization and high integration, small hole processing lasers have become essential, and pattern exposure for small hole sizes has become essential. This paper intends to analyze the characteristics through patterns by exposing the PCB substrate through DMD and polygon scanner, which are different optical systems. Since the optical systems are different, the size of the patterns was made the same, and exposure was performed under the optimal conditions for each system. Pattern characteristics were analyzed through a 3D profiler. As a result of the analysis, there was no significant difference in line width between the two systems. However, it was confirmed that dmd had better pattern precision and polygon scanner had better productivity.

  • Recent spectroscopic observations indicate concentration of dark masses in the nuclei of nearby galaxies. This has been usually interpreted as the presence of massive black holes in these nuclei. Alternative explanations such as the dark cluster composed of low mass stars (brown dwarfs) or dark stellar remnants are possible provided that these systems can be stably maintained for the age of galaxies. For the case of low mass star cluster, mass of individual stars can grow to that of conventional stars in collision time scale. The requirement of collision time scale being shorter than the Hubble time gives the minimum cluster size. For typical conditions of M31 or M32, the half-mass radii of dark clusters can be as small as 0.1 arcsecond. For the case of clusters composed of stellar remnants, core-collapse and post-collapse expansion are required to take place in longer than Hubble time. Simple estimates reveal that the size of these clusters also can be small enough that no contradiction with observational data exists for the clusters made of white dwarfs or neutron stars. We then considered the possible outcomes of interactions between the black hole and the surrounding stellar system. Under typical conditions of M31 or M32, tidal disruption will occur every $10^3$ to $10^4$ years. We present a simple scenario for the evolution of stellar debris based on basic principles. While the accretion of stellar material could produce large amount of radiation so that the mass-to-light ratio can become too small compared to observational values it is too early to rule out the black hole model because the black hole can consume most of the stellar debris in time scale much shorter than mean time between two successive tidal disruptions. Finally we outline recent effort to simulate the process of tidal disruption and subsequent evolution of the stellar debris numerically using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics technique.

  • In order to develop a pot lid that would not overflow, three parts were created, each different in size. One cover (A") had a small hole (dia. 10 cm) for the vapor to escape (dia. about 2.5 mm). Another, cover A' had a medium-sized hole (dia. about 5 cm) for the vapor to escape. Cover A (dia. 300 mm, $120\;mm^H$) had a large hole (dia. 100 mm) for the vapor to escape. Because the new cover was partially open while soy paste solution cooking, it showed that it could not only prevent overflow, but also extend the burning approaching and salinity increase time, reducing both cooking time and the amount of energy necessary to cook.

  • In micro hole punching process the burr occurs inevitably, but the burr must be minimized in order to improve the quality and accuracy of the product. In this study, magnetic field-assisted polishing technique is applied to remove the burr which exists in nozzles for ink-jet printer head and proved to be a feasible for deburring by experiment. The deburring characteristics of sheet metals was investigated changing with polishing time and magnetic abrasive size. After the deburring, the burr size has remarkably reduced and roundness of the hole also has improved.

  • It is known that most people have a dominant eye, even though each of their two eyes in isolation may provide equal vision. In this study, 600 Korean male and female subjects aging from 11 to 78 were selected to investigate the various statistics about eye dominance( whether the left or right eye is dominant} in Korean and their employment characteristics of preferred eye in sighting diverse things. A simple sighting test was applied such that subjects are requested to aim a distance target through small hole in B4 sized paper with both eyes open. The dominant eye was determined by alternate occlusion: when viewing with the dominant eye into the hole is aligned with the target, whereas when viewing with the other eye into the hole appears offset to one side. The descriptive statistics showed that 83.7% and 16.3% were right and left eye dominant respectively. Moreover, various statistical analysis revealed that general tendency of eye dominance was varied by age, gender, hand dominance and visual acuity. It was thus found from these results that people sighting their eyes differently depending on the eye dominance when they sight things.

  • Stresses were calculated for finite-width orthotropic laminates with a circular hole and remote uniaxial loading using a two-dimensional finite-element analysis with both uniform stress and uniform displacement boundary conditions. Five different laminates were analyzed: quasi-isotropic [0.deg./.+-.45.deg./90.deg.].$\_$s/, 0.deg., 90.deg., [0.deg./90.deg.]$\_$s/, and [.+-.45.deg.]$\_$s/, Computed results are presented for selected combinations of hole diameter-sheet-width ratio d/w and length-to width ratio L/w. For small L/w values, the stress-concentration factors K$\_$tn/ were significantly different for the uniform stress and uniform displacement boundary conditions. Typically, for the uniform stress conditions, the K$\_$tn/ values were much larger than for the infinite-strip reference conditions; however, for the uniform displacement conditon, they were only slighty smaller than for this reference. The results for long strips are also presented as width-correction factor. For d/w.leg.33, these width-correction factors are nearly equal for all five laminates.

  • A new 3D micromachining method, called Hole Area Modulation(HAM), has been introduced and experimentally confirmed its feasibility. In this method, information on the depth of machining is converted to the sizes of small holes in the mask. The machining is carried out with a simple 2D movement of the workpiece. This method can be applied for machining various kinds of microcavities in various materials. In this paper, a mathematical model for excimer laser micromachining based on HAM and also determination of the optimal laser ablation conditions(width, Hole radius, step size, path, etc.) is completed by employing using Genetic Algorithm(GA).

  • We present detailed studies of externally applicable UHF PD sensors for a metal covered epoxy barrier with a small opening of epoxy injection-hole. The sensors were attached at the surface of injection hole of a metal covered epoxy barrier. 3-Dimensional electro magnetic simulations were performed to analyze electric-field distribution of the GIS and epoxy barrier with injection hole. Sensor structures were designed and analyzed using the 3-D EM simulator then fabricated for experimental verification. Sensor performance was measured in terms of spectral response and detected peak power. Real scale GIS and epoxy barriers were used to test and measure various aspect of performance of the sensors.

  • To determine the residual stress, concentrated forces instead of distributed stresses, are assumed to be released around the hole drilled through. Concentrated forces are consisted with pairs of concentrated farces which have opposite directions and small distances. Residual stress determination on assumption of concentrated forces is compared numerically with normal method based on Kirsch's solution and proved to be available when released strains are measured at a little distance.
