A NOTE ON FLIP SYSTEMS

  • A dynamical system with a skew-commuting involution map is called a flip system. Every flip system on a subshift of finite type is represented by a pair of matrices, one of which is a permutation matrix. The transposition number of this permutation matrix is studied. We define an invariant, called the flip number, that measures the complexity of a flip system, and prove some results on it. More properties of flips on subshifts of finite type with symmetric adjacency matrices are investigated.

  • The characteristic connection is a good substitute for the Levi-Civita connection, especially in studying non-integrable geometries. Unfortunately, not every geometric structure has the characteristic connection. In this paper we consider the space $U(3)/(U(1){\times}U(1){\times}U(1))$ with an almost Hermitian structure and prove that it has a geometric structure admitting the characteristic connection.

  • This paper introduces a novel method for obtaining umbrella matrices, which are defined as orthogonal matrices with row sums of one, using skew-symmetric matrices and Cayley's Formula. This method is presented for the first time in this paper. We also investigate the kinematic properties and applications of umbrella matrices, demonstrating their usefulness as a tool in geometry and kinematics. Our findings provide new insights into the connections between matrix theory and geometric applications.

난류 경계층에 잠긴 수직벽 주위 유동의 2차원성 연구 (Experimental Investigation of Two-dimensionality of Flow around the Vertical Fence Submerged in a Turbulent Boundary Layer)

  • An experimental investigation of the flow around a vertical fence was carried out using a PIV velocity field measurement technique. The vertical fence was embedded in a turbulent boundary layer. The instantaneous velocity fields measured at cross-sectional planes reveal complex longitudinal vortices that vary in size and strength, developing from the upstream location. In the instantaneous vorticity and velocity field data, the shear flow separated from the fence top is highly turbulent and shows unsteady flow characteristics. The topography of the ensemble averaged velocity fields, especially the separation bubble formed behind the fence, shows that the spatial distributions of streamwise velocity (U) and vertical (V) are symmetric, the spanwise velocity (W) is skew-symmetric with respect to the central xy-plane(z=0).

  • 산업용 로봇의 하중률은 1대 10에서 1대 30이고, 3대 1의 하중률을 가지는 인간과 비교하여 매우 낮다. 다음 세대 로봇의 목표 중에 하나는 하중률이 될 것이고, 이것은 가벼운 로봇을 개발함으로 가능할 것이다. 2관절 유연한 로봇팔은 관절 축을 회전할 때 진동이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 유연한 로봇팔의 진동 동력학은 오일러 베르누이의 보 이론과 라그랑지 방정식을 이용하여 구하였고, $\dot{D}-2C$가 skew symmetric이다는 사실을 사용하여, 계산량을 줄이는 리아프노프 안정도 이론을 이용한 단순한 구조의 새로운 제어기를 제안한다. 2링크 유연한 로봇에 대한 확정적인 적응제어 법칙을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 그 타당성을 보인다.

  • A self-diagnostic, air-damped, piezoresitive, cantilever-beam microaccelerometer has been designed, fabricated and tested for applications to automotive electronic airbag systems. A skew-symmetric proof-mass has been designed for self-diagnostic capability and zero transverse sensitivity. Two kinds of multi-step anisotropic etching processes are developed for beam thickness control and fillet-rounding formation, UV-curing paste has been used for sillicon-to-glass bounding. The resonant frequency of 2.07kHz has been measured from the fabricated devices. The sensitivity of 195 $\mu{V}$/g is obtained with a nonlinearity of 4% over $\pm$50g ranges. Flat amplitude response and frequency-proportional phase response have been obserbed, It is shown that the design and fabricaiton methods developed in the present study yield a simple, practical and effective mean for improving the performance, reliability as well as the reproducibility of the accelerometers.

Design of Simple-Structured Fuzzy Logic Systems for Segway-Type Mobile Robot

  • Studies on the control of the inverted pendulum type system have been widely reported. This is because it is a typical complex nonlinear system and may be a good model for verifying the performance of a proposed control system. In this paper, we propose the design of some fuzzy logic control (FLC) systems for controlling a Segway-type mobile robot, which is an inverted pendulum type system. We first derive a dynamic model of the Segway-type mobile robot and then analyze it in detail. Next, we propose the design of some FLC systems that have good performance for the control of any nonlinear system. Then, we design two conventional FLC systems for the position and balance control of the Segway-type mobile robot, and we demonstrate their usefulness through simulations. Next, we point out the possibility of simplifying the design process and reducing the computational complexity,, which results from the skew symmetric property of the fuzzy control rule tables. Finally, we design two other FLC systems for position and balance control of the Segway-type mobile robot. These systems have only one input variable in the FLC systems. Furthermore, we observe that they offer similar control performance to that of the conventional two-input FLC systems.

  • Studies on the control of inverted pendulum type systems have been widely reported. This is because this type of system is a typical complex nonlinear system and may be a good model to verify the performance of a proposed control system. In this paper, we propose the design of two fuzzy logic control systems for the control of a Segway mobile robot which is an inverted pendulum type system.   • In this paper we investigate (n+1)($n{\geq}3$)-dimensional contact CR-submanifolds M of (n-1) contact CR-dimension in a complete simply connected Sasakian space form of constant ${\phi}$-holomorphic sectional curvature $c{\neq}-3$ which satisfy the condition h(FX, Y)+h(X, FY) = 0 for any vector fields X, Y tangent to M, where h and F denote the second fundamental form and a skew-symmetric endomorphism (defined by (2.3)) acting on tangent space of M, respectively.

PIV기법에 의한 엇갈린 관군 배열 내부의 유동장 측정 (Measurement of Flow Field through a Staggered Tube Bundle using Particle Image Velocimetry)

  • We applied PIV method to obtain instantaneous and ensemble averaged velocity fields from the first row to the fifth row of a staggered tube bundle. The Reynolds number based on the tube diameter and the maximum velocity was set to be 4,000. Remarkably different natures are observed in the developing bundle flow. Such differences are depicted in the mean recirculating bubble length and the vorticity distributions. The jet-like flow seems to be a dominant feature after the second row and usually skew. However, the ensemble averaged fields show symmetric profiles and the flow characteristics between the third and fourth measuring planes are not so different. comparison between the PIV data and the RANS simulation yields severe disagreement in spite of the same Reynolds number. It can be explained that the distinct jet-like unsteady motions are not to be accounted in th steady numerical analysis.
