Single Mode Lasing in InGaAsP/InP Semiconductor Coupled Square Ring Cavities

  • This work reports the stability of the resonant characteristics in multimode interferometer coupled square ring semiconductor cavities. Based on the analysis of single square ring cavities, the single mode operations in the multimode interferometer coupled ring cavities are analyzed and the devices are demonstrated on the semiconductor multiple quantum well epitaxial structure. By varying the lasing conditions such as substrate temperature and input pump power, single resonant mode operations are also observed.

The Characteristics of Hydrodynamic Dispersion in a Horizontally Heterogeneous Fractured Rock Through Single Well Injection Withdrawal Tracer Tests (수평적으로 불균질한 단열암반층에서 단공주입양수 추적자시험에 의한 수리분산특성)

  • Single well injection withdrawal tracer tests with bromide were carried out at two wells developed in a horizontally heterogeneous fractured rock. The hydraulic conductivity of TW-1 well was 5 times larger than TW-2 well, and the average linear velocity of TW-2 well was 1.8 times faster than TW-1 well. The difference of hydrodynamic dispersions of two wells in the fractured rock was studied with the analysis of concentration breakthrough curves and cumulative mass recovery curves of bromide with withdrawal time, and the estimation of average travel distance, pore velocity, longitudinal dispersivity and longitudinal dispersion coefficient. The average travel distances of bromide were estimated to be 3.00 m in TW-1 well and 5.62 m in TW-2 well. The average pore velocities for the injection/withdrawal phase were estimated to be $4.31\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;m/sec$ in TW-1 well and $8.08\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;m/sec$ in TW-2 well. Average travel distance and pore velocity were higher in TW-2 well because of small effective porosity. Longitudinal dispersivities were estimated to be 28.73 cm in TW-1 well and 18.49 cm in TW-2 well, and bromide transport was 1.55 times faster in TW-1 well. Longitudinal dispersion coefficients were estimated to be $5.14\;{\times}\;10^{-6}\;m^2/sec$ in TW-1 well and $6.06\;{\times}\;10^{-6}\;m^2/sec$ in TW-2 well, and diffusion area was 1.18 times larger in TW-2 well.

Experimental Study on Effects of Filter Layers in Pumping Well (취수정에서 필터층이 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This study was performed in order to evaluate the efficiency of groundwater well installed in alluvial aquifer that has filter layers, using laboratory experiment. We manufactured test equipment that can simulate dual filter layer and single filter layer and evaluated the initial volume of water intake, pumping efficiency, and long term stability using the experiment and analysis. In an early stage within 60 minutes, the case that took the dual filter showed an increase of 19.4 % in the initial volume of water intake compared to the case without it. It was found that after 24 hours of the test, the well installed with the dual filter showed higher than 68.9% compared to the well with single filter. It was calculated that it took 1.35 days to reach the point corresponding to the half of the water intake in case of single filter while it took 38.66 days to do so in case of dual filter. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the well with dual filter is much more favorable in the long term stability.

Optical Properties of ZnHgGa4Se8 and ZnHgGa4Se8:Co2+ Single Crystals

  • [ $ZnHgGa_4Se_8\;and\;ZnHgGa_4Se_8::Co^{2+}$ ] single crystals were grown by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method. The single crystals crystallized into a defect chalcopyrite structure. The optical energy band gap of the single crystals was investigated in the temperature range 11-300K. The optical energy band gap of the $ZnHgGa_4Se_8:Co^{2+}$ single crystal was smaller than that of the $ZnHgGa_4Se_8$ single crystal. The temperature dependence of the optical energy band gap of the single crystals was well fitted by the Varshni equqtion. The impurity optical absorption spectrum of the $ZnHgGa_4Se_8:Co^{2+}$ single crystal was measured in the wavelength region 300-2300 m at 80 K. Impurity absorption peaks in the spectrum were analyzed within the framework of the crystal field theory and were attributed to the electron transitions between the energy levels of $Co^{2+}$ sited in the Td symmetry point.

  • This paper focuses on the single stage and multistage performance characteristics of centrifugal mixed flow submersible borewell pump. This study reveals that the performance of single stage pump is higher than that of multistage pumps. The head, input power and efficiency of single stage pump are higher than the per stage head, per stage input power and efficiency of multistage pumps. This study is divided into three parts. In the first part, five prototype pumps were made in single stage and multistage construction and the performance tests were conducted. In the second part, numerical validation has been done for different turbulence models and grid sizes. k-Omega SST model has been selected for the performance simulation and was validated with the performance of the test pump with static pressure tappings. In the third part, single and three stage pump performance were simulated numerically and compared with experimental results. The detailed analysis of pressure and velocity distributions reveals the difference in performance of single and three stage pump, due to non-uniform flow and difference in averaged flow velocities at the subsequent impeller inlets except the 1st stage impeller inlet.

Housing Consciousness and Needs of Single Woman Household for the Small-sized Rental Housing Development - Focused on the Residents of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi - (여성 1인가구 소형임대주택계획을 위한 주거의식과 주거요구 - 서울특별시를 중심으로 -)

  • This study outlines the housing consciousness and needs of single woman household. In order to analyze housing consciousness of single woman household, surveys were conducted with the questionnaire composed of housing consciousness, housing needs, socio-demographic and housing characteristics of single woman household who lived in Seoul, and other near metropolitan area such as Gyeonggi and Incheon. The result of the study shows that single woman household put importance on safety, privacy, and comfort of their indoor housing environment. For single woman households convenience in transportation and facilities for leisure time were one of the important conscious factors. Housing consciousness of single woman household can be categorized into mainly three groups: (i) indifferent to overall housing consciousness except for convenient services such as front desk service at the lobby and maid house keeping services; (ii) privacy conscious group - this was the majority; (iii) relatively active housing consciousness group. Each type had different preference factors when selecting a house. That is, each showed difference preferences when considering types, sizes and services as well as motives for choosing a house.

  • This research team has developed single silk white bubble sheets to be used as surface sheath curing material for spring, summer, and autumn. But though its effects for spring and autumn temperature conditions have been proved, there haven't been any studies for summer temperature conditions. Therefore in this study, single silk white bubble sheets and single silk transparent bubble sheets as well as aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheets have been applied to actual box-frame apartment slabs in construction, in order to compare temperature backgrounds of the concrete and other qualities. Upon application, the temperature of concrete cured in summer temperature conditions showed excellent scores, being the lowest for aluminum metalizing single silk white bubble sheets, then single silk transparent bubble sheets. But the aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheet gave off a harmful glare, so for actual use, white single silk bubble sheets are recommended.

Alterations of the soft tissue dimensions around implant-supported singletooth replacements in the maxillary anterior region - A retrospective longitudinal study - (상악 전치부 임플란트지지 수복금관의 주변 연조직 제원 변화에 관한 누년적 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the soft tissue changes around single implant-supported crowns during followup periods. Twenty patients(31 implants) whose single missing tooth in the maxillary anterior region had been replaced with an single implant-supported crown were recruited for the study. Crown length, soft tissue level and papilla height at the single implant-supported crowns were measured at follow-up examination and calculated from the slides taken at time of crown placement. as well Papilla index was scored from the slides taken at the time of crown placement and follow-up examination. A very little amount of recession occurred and the soft tissue level moved more apically and the papilla height increased significantly (p<0.01). Especially, both mesial and distal papilla index at single implant-supported crowns increased significantly during follow-up periods (p<0.001). When the two slides taken at the time of crown placement and follow-up were compared simultaneously, except one site, papillae size increased at all sites. From the results of the study, the interdental papillae at the single implant-supported crowns seemed to regenerate significantly and their crown margins were stable during follow-up periods. Hence it is indicated that various surgical interventions at on early stage to enhance soft tissue esthetics arourd single implants may be unnecessary.
