  • In this paper, we actually construct the simultaneous approximation by neural networks to a differentiable function. To do this, we first construct a polynomial approximation using the Fejer sum and then a simultaneous neural network approximation with the squashing activation function. We also give numerical results to support our theory.

  • For the two groups data from multivariate binomial distribution, we consider a bootstrap approach to inferring the simultaneous confidence level and its standard error of a collection of the dependent confidence intervals for the difference of proportions with an experimentwise error rate at the a level are presented. The bootstrap method is used to estimate the simultaneous confidence probability for the difference of proportions.

  • In this paper, we discuss the characterizations and uniqueness of a one-sided best simultaneous approximation for a compact subset from a convex subset of a finite-dimensional subspace of a normed linear space $C_1(X)$. The motivation is furnished by the characterizations of the one-sided best simultaneous approximations for a finite subset ${f_1, \ldots, f_\ell}$ for any $\ell \in N$.

  • Automotive manufacturers lay their eyes on the new manufacturing technologies because of the strengthened competition. Among them, a simultaneous forming is one of the innovative forming technologies to be able to reduce production time and cost. Several parts can be simultaneous manufactured by process, while the conventional stamping demands the same number of die sets with the number of parts. In this study, the automotive front side member was manufactured by the simultaneous forming. The position and the size of initial blank were determined by forming analysis and try-outs, and the blank movement during the forming was controlled by introducing the pilot pin.

  • Recent advances in the field of control theory have enabled us to design active vibration control systems for various structures. In many studies, the controller used to suppress vibration has been synthesized for the given mathematical model of structure. In these cases, the designer has not been able to utilize the degree of freedom to adjust the structural parameters of the control object. To overcome this problem, so called 'Structure/Control Simultaneous Optimization Method' is used. In this context of view, this paper is concerned with the active vibration control of bridge towers, platforms and ocean vehicles etc. Simultaneous design method is used to achieve optimal system performance. Here, a general framework for the simultaneous design problem of output feedback case is introduced based on LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality). The simulation results show that the proposed design method achieves desirable control performance.

  • Simultaneous CH and OH planar laser induced fluorescence(PLIF) and stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements have been developed to investigate the local flame structure of turbulent premixed flames. The developed simultaneous two radical concentrations and three component velocity measurements on a two-dimensional plane was applied for relatively high Reynolds number turbulent premixed flames in a swirl stabilized combustor. All measurements were conducted for methane-air premixed flames in the corrugated flamelets regime. Strong three-dimensional fluctuation implies that misunderstanding of the flame/turbulent interactions would be caused by the analysis of two-component velocity distribution in a cross section. Furthermore, comparisons of CH-OH PLIF and three-component velocity field show that the burned gases not always have high-speed velocity in relatively high Reynolds number turbulent premixed flame. The Reynolds number dependence of the flame front was clearly captured by the simultaneous CH-OH PLIF and stereoscopic PIV measurements.

  • Pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method is known as the promising production-technique for nanopowders. In this study, we developed and modified the previous single wire explosion equipment to the simultaneous two-wire explosion one for the fabrication of alloy or mixture of nano metallic powder. First of all, both the theoretical and empirical background of pulsed wire explosion of single wire were summarized, and compared with our experimental results for Cu and Al single wlre explosion. After then, the simultaneous wire evaporation equipment was designed, constructed, and tested. The current and voltage behavior were well matched between the calculated ones from the circuit equations, and the experimental results from simultaneous explosion of Cu and Al wire.

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the possibility of simultaneous removal of ammonium, nitrate and phosphorus in water using the zeocarbon. In this study, the surface of zeocarbon was modified by acid because of difficulty in application of water treatment. After surface modification, the strength was enhanced about 62% higher than that of original one. The removal efficiency of ammonium and nitrate using the modified zeocarbon was about 47% and 32%, respectively and were higher than that of zeocarbon. In batch type experiment on the simultaneous removal of ammonium, nitrate and phosphorus, the presence of phosphorus did not have influence on nitrogen removal efficiency. Concomitantly, removal efficiency of phosphorus was obtained was about 35%. This indicates that the surface modified zeocarbon can be applied for simultaneous removal of nitrogen and phosphorus. Consequently, our results could be used as basic data to design of one-stage nitrogen/phosphorus simultaneous removal system.

  • A simultaneous bidirectional transceiver over a single wire has been developed in a 65 nm CMOS technology for a command and control bus. The echo signals of the simultaneous bidirectional link are cancelled by controlling the decision level of receiver comparators without power-hungry operational amplifier (op-amp) based circuits. With the clock information embedded in the rising edges of the signals sent from the source side to the sink side, the data is recovered by an open-loop digital circuit with 20 times blind oversampling. The data rate of the simultaneous bidirectional transceiver in each direction is 75 Mbps and therefore the overall signaling bandwidth is 150 Mbps. The measured energy efficiency of the transceiver is 56.7 pJ/b and the bit-error-rate (BER) is less than $10^{-12}$ with $2^7-1$ pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) pattern for both signaling directions.
