  • The principal objective of a sampling plan is to make efficient use of the budget allocated and to obtain as precise an estimate of a population parameter as possible. In order to estimate the proportion of defectives produced or to determine some measure of product Quality, it is necessary to select random samples which represent a population parameter of the process. In this case, the two stage sampling is more efficient and convenient than simple random sampling. Therefore this paper aims to propose the design procedures of two stage sampling plan to obtain a representative samples in considering the sampling precision under the restricted sampling unspection cost.

  • This paper describes a sampling method, which can be used instead of the simple random sampling without replacement(SRSWOR). This method, circular sampling, assumes that the sampling units of the population are arranged in circular format, and randomly selects as many as samples of contiguous units. Therefore this method gathers information quicker and easier than STSWOR. In certain circumstances, the reliability of this method is better than that of STSWOR. And of circular sampling would be applied to nonprobability could be determined. methods, the reliability of the sample results in terms of probability could be determined.

  • This paper proposes an efficient matching algorithm based on ASIFT (Affine Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) which is fully invariant to affine transformation. In our approach, we proposed a method of reducing similar measure matching cost and the number of outliers. First, we combined the Manhattan and Chessboard metrics replacing the Euclidean metric by a linear combination for measuring the similarity of keypoints. These two metrics are simple but really efficient. Using our method the computation time for matching step was saved and also the number of correct matches was increased. By applying an Optimized Random Sampling Algorithm (ORSA), we can remove most of the outlier matches to make the result meaningful. This method was experimented on various combinations of affine transform. The experimental result shows that our method is superior to SIFT and ASIFT.

  • The university president direct election system in Korea had begun in 1987 as a movement of college democratization in the 1980s after 6.29 Declaration. Since then, many national/private universities had adopted the election system. However, it has posed many problems and it caused a sharp division of opinions between those who approve and disapprove the direct election system. Since 2005, the government has made official of the reformation and/or abolition of the university president direct election system, and has kept pushing for universities to give up the direct election system. Now, only 3 or 4 universities hold on to the system, and many universities have changed into the indirect election system. In the indirect election, a key is the composition of president nomination committee, which confirms the university members's variety. Many universities adopting the indirect election system have used simple random sampling, like drawing lots, to compose the president nomination committee. However, drawing lots has a problem that it has large possibility of composing a biased committee. This research suggests systematic sampling as an alternative to drawing lots. A numerical analysis was conducted using a data of a university in which the indirect election was implemented recently. The drawing lots gave the biased nomination committee. On the other hand, the systematic sample improves the problem and confirms more the variety of all members.

  • The sampling methods selected for this area was (1) Simple random sampling (2) Systematic sampling and (3) Sub-sampling. For the calculation of the number of sampling plot, 10 % coefficient of variation was adapted. As a result, 57 plots each for simple random sampling and systematic sampling was calculated. In the sub-sampling method, however, total of 40 plots, which were consisted of 5 Blocks, secondary 4 major units and tertiary 2 minor units, were examined. The reuslts obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The rate of expected error was 9.24% for simple random sampling, 8.36% for systematic sampling and 7.54% for sub-sampling, respectively. Therefore, the sub-sampling was proved to be the most accurate method among the test. 2. The volume calculated by each sampling method was compared to the volume of all stand. The rate of expected error was also lowest in the sub-sampling (0.39%), followed by systematic sampling (4.18%) and simple random sampling (7.92%). 3. Comparing the various reuslts and analysis of these results, the sub-sampling was regarded as the most rapid and economical method because this method had not only the least number of plots but also the least expected error among the tested sampling methods Therefore the sub-sampling is proved to be an ideal sampling method for forest survey.

  • Truncated expansions based upon the sampling theorem but containing only a few terms can be very useful for practical interpolations of band-limited or narrow-band random signals. The major goal of this work is to find and coiupare efficient and "statistically accurate" algorithms for the dynamic analysis of the ocean systems. The stalistical accuracy of truncated sampling interpolations is investicated, and one simple ocean systems, which yields a Runge-Kutta simulation algorithm of improved accuracy with very little increase in computation, is indicated.indicated.

  • This paper proposed a random sigma-delta modulator(RSDM), which is constructed by a 1st order sigma-delta modulator(SDM) and a simple structured random binary generator(RBG). The 1st order SDM produces a switching pulse waveform which has the same low-frequency component as the reference input, while the RBG spreads the distribution of the number of sampling per switching cycle, and thus disperses the spectrum spikes in the output. The relationship between the harmonic spectra and the number of sampling per switching cycle is studied through computer simulations, and the frequency spectra of the RSDM are confirmed in an experimental setup.

  • In the present paper an attempt has been made to develop a stratified ramdomized response technique when the respondents are selected using simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR) as well as simple random sampling with replacement (SRSWR). The conditions under which the proposed technique will be more efficient than the corresponding Warner's technique have been obtained.

  • This article is concerned with the intraclass correlation in survey sampling. From a design-based viewpoint the intraclass correlation is generalized to a finite population with unequal sized clusters. Under simple random cluster sampling the intraclass correlation is given in an explicit form, which is a generalization of the usual one. The range of it is found and the design effect is expressed by means of it. An example is given to compare the intraclass correlation with the homogeneity measure numerically, which shows that two measures are not the same except some limited cases.

  • Since there are multiple random variables in the probabilistic load flow (PLF) calculation of distribution system containing distributed generation (DG) and electric vehicle charging load (EVCL), a Monte Carlo method based on composite sampling method is put forward according to the existing simple random sampling Monte Carlo simulation method (SRS-MCSM) to perform probabilistic assessment analysis of voltage quality of distribution system containing DG and EVCL. This method considers not only the randomness of wind speed and light intensity as well as the uncertainty of basic load and EVCL, but also other stochastic disturbances, such as the failure rate of the transmission line. According to the different characteristics of random factors, different sampling methods are applied. Simulation results on IEEE9 bus system and IEEE34 bus system demonstrates the validity, accuracy, rapidity and practicability of the proposed method. In contrast to the SRS-MCSM, the proposed method is of higher computational efficiency and better simulation accuracy. The variation of nodal voltages for distribution system before and after connecting DG and EVCL is compared and analyzed, especially the voltage fluctuation of the grid-connected point of DG and EVCL.
