Energy-Efficiency Power Allocation for Cognitive Radio MIMO-OFDM Systems

  • This paper studies energy-efficiency (EE) power allocation for cognitive radio MIMO-OFDM systems. Our aim is to minimize energy efficiency, measured by "Joule per bit" metric, while maintaining the minimal rate requirement of a secondary user under a total power constraint and mutual interference power constraints. However, since the formulated EE problem in this paper is non-convex, it is difficult to solve directly in general. To make it solvable, firstly we transform the original problem into an equivalent convex optimization problem via fractional programming. Then, the equivalent convex optimization problem is solved by a sequential quadratic programming algorithm. Finally, a new iterative energy-efficiency power allocation algorithm is presented. Numerical results show that the proposed method can obtain better EE performance than the maximizing capacity algorithm.

위치별 산란특성을 반영한 측정기반 얼굴 렌더링 (Measurement-based Face Rendering reflecting Positional Scattering Properties)

  • 이 논문은 피하산란의 정도가 다를 것으로 예상되는 얼굴의 6개의 부위를 촬영하여 각각의 산란특성을 추출하고 렌더링에 반영하여 얼굴의 사실감 있는 표현이 가능한 방법을 제안한다. 각 부위별 산란이미지는 프로젝터로부터 피부에 입사된 단위광선이 내부 산란을 거쳐 밖으로 드러나는 모양을 여러 노출로 촬영하여 HDR 이미지로 합성하고, 비선형 최소제곱합의 해법 중 Sequential Quadratic Programming을 이용하여 광선의 입사지점을 지나는 단면이 이루는 곡선에 '가우스 함수의 선형결합'을 적합한다. 가우스 함수는 산란곡선을 잘 근사하면서 필터로서 적용이 쉬운 장점을 가진다. 우리는 최소제곱합의 해가 지역 해에 빠지는 않도록 유전알고리듬을 이용해 초기 값을 설정한다. 근사된 식의 각 가우스 항은 얼굴에 입사되는 복사조도를 렌더링한 텍스처에 가우스 필터로 적용되어 피하산란효과를 표현. 이 논문에서는 최대 12회의 가우스 필터링을 효율적으로 처리하기 위해 쿠다의 병렬처리능력를 활용하였다.

근사 최적화 방법을 이용한 사출금형 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Injection Mold Design Using Approximation Optimization)

  • The injection molding technique is a processing method widely used for the production of plastic parts. In this study, the gate position, gate size, packing time, and melt temperature were optimized to minimize both the stress and deformation that occur during the injection molding process of medical suction device components. We used a central composite design and Latin hypercube sampling to acquire the data and adopted the response surface method as an approximation method. The efficiency of the optimization of the injection molding problem was determined by comparing the results of a genetic algorithm, sequential quadratic programming, and a non-dominant classification genetic algorithm.

  • This paper presents a hybrid algorithm for solving optimal power flow(OPF) in order to enhance a systems capability to cope with outages, which is based on combined application of evolutionary computation and local search method. The efficient algorithm combining main advantages of two methods is as follows : Firstly, evolutionary computation is used to perform global exploitation among a population. This gives a good initial point of conventional method. Then, local methods are used to perform local exploitation. The hybrid approach often outperforms either method operating alone and reduces the total computation time. The objective function of the security constrained OPF is the minimization of generation fuel costs and real power losses. The resulting optimal operating point has to be feasible after outages such as any single line outage(respect of voltage magnitude, reactive power generation and power flow limits). In OPF considering security, the outages are selected by contingency ranking method(contingency screening model).   • Distributed piezoeletric sensor and actuator have been designed for efficient vibration control of a cantilevered beam. Both PZT and PVDF have been used in this study, the former as an actuator and the latter as a sensor for the integrated structure. We have optimized the position and the size of the PZT actuator and the electrode shape of the PVDF sensor. Finite element method is used to model the structure and the optimized actuators, we have designed the active electrode width of the PVDF sensor along the span of the beam. Actuator design is based on the criterion of minimizing the system energy in the control modes under a given initial condition. Model control forces for the residual (uncontrolled) modes have been minimized during the sensor design to minimize the observation spill-over. Genetic algorithm and sequential quadratic programming technique have been utilized as an optimization scheme. Discrete LQG control law has been applied to the integrated structure for real time vibration control. Performance of the sensor, the actuator, and the integrated smart structure has been demonstrated by experiments.

Repetitive Periodic Motion Planning and Directional Drag Optimization of Underwater Articulated Robotic Arms

  • In order to utilize hydrodynamic drag force on articulated robots moving in an underwater environment, an optimum motion planning procedure is proposed. The drag force acting on cylindrical underwater arms is modeled and a directional drag measure is defined as a quantitative measure of reaction force in a specific direction in a workspace. A repetitive trajectory planning method is formulated from the general point-to-point trajectory planning method. In order to globally optimize the parameters of repetitive trajectories under inequality constraints, a 2-level optimization scheme is proposed, which adopts the genetic algorithm (GA) as the 1st level optimization and sequential quadratic programming (SQP) as the 2nd level optimization. To verify the validity of the proposed method, optimization examples of periodic motion planning with the simple two-link planner robot are also presented in this paper.

  • When a wheel profile of a train-tram is designed, both train and tram tracks should be considered. This study designed a wheel profile that enables high-speed driving(200km/h) on the train track and low speed driving on the tram track with multiple sharp curves. The study used the approximation optimization method to reduce cost and time, used the sequential quadratic programming method as the optimized algorithm, and the central composite design and response surface method as an approximate model. The optimized wheel shape based on this approximation optimization method reduced wear of the initial wheel showed a better performance in terms of derailment and lateral force.

Cooperative Path Planning of Dynamical Multi-Agent Systems Using Differential Flatness Approach

  • This paper discusses a design methodology of cooperative path planning for dynamical multi-agent systems with spatial and temporal constraints. The cooperative behavior of the multi-agent systems is specified in terms of the objective function in an optimization formulation. The path of achieving cooperative tasks is then generated by the optimization formulation constructed based on a differential flatness approach. Three scenarios of multi-agent tasking are proposed at the cooperative task planning framework. Given agent dynamics, both spatial and temporal constraints are considered in the path planning. The path planning algorithm first finds trajectory curves in a lower-dimensional space and then parameterizes the curves by a set of B-spline representations. The coefficients of the B-spline curves are further solved by a sequential quadratic programming solver to achieve the optimization objective and satisfy these constraints. Finally, several illustrative examples of cooperative path/task planning are presented.

미기압파 저감을 위한 고속전철 열차-터널 조건의 근사최적설계 (Approximate Optimization of High-speed Train Shape and Tunnel Condition to Reduce the Micro-pressure Wave)

  • A micro-pressure wave is generated by the high-speed train which enters a tunnel, and it causes explosive noise and vibration at the exit. It is known that train speed, train-tunnel area ratio, nose slenderness and nose shape mainly influence on generating micro-pressure wave. So it is required to minimize it by searching optimal values of such train shape factors and tunnel condition. In this study, response surface model, one of approximation models, is used to perform optimization effectively and analyze sensitivity of design variables. Owen's randomized orthogonal array and D-optimal Design are used to construct response surface model. In order to increase accuracy of model, stepwise regression is selected. Finally SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) optimization algorithm is used to minimize the maximum micro-pressure wave by using built approximation model.

계통 혼잡처리를 위한 Phase-Shifting Transformers의 최적 위치 선정 (Optimal Placement Design of Phase-Shifting Transformers for Power System Congestion Problems)

  • This paper presents a scheme to design optimal placement of phase-shifting transformers for power system congestion problems. A good design of phase-shifting transformers placement can improve total transfer capability in interconnected systems. In order to find the optimal placement of phase-shifting transformers, the power flows of the interesting transmission lines are evaluated using sequential quadratic programming technique. This algorithm considers power balance equations and security constraints such as voltage magnitudes and transmission line capacities. The proposed scheme is tested in 10 machines 39 buses and IEEE 57 buses systems. Test result shows that the proposed method can find the optimal placement of phase-shifting transformers to solver power system congestion problems.
