Sequential Optimization for Subcarrier Pairing and Power Allocation in CP-SC Cognitive Relay Systems

  • A sequential optimization algorithm (SOA) for resource allocation in a cyclic-prefixed single-carrier cognitive relay system is proposed in this study. Both subcarrier pairing (SP) and power allocation are performed subject to a primary user interference constraint to minimize the mean squared error of frequency-domain equalization at the secondary destination receiver. Under uniform power allocation at the secondary source and optimal power allocation at the secondary relay, the ordered SP is proven to be asymptotically optimal in maximizing the matched filter bound on the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. SOA implements the ordered SP before power allocation optimization by decoupling the ordered SP from the power allocation. Simulation results show that SOA can optimize resource allocation efficiently by significantly reducing complexity.

  • A Gaussian sum filter (GSF) is proposed in this paper on simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for mobile robot navigation. In particular, the SLAM problem is tackled here for cases when only bearing measurements are available. Within the stochastic mapping framework using an extended Kalman filter (EKF), a Gaussian probability density function (pdf) is assumed to describe the range-and-bearing sensor noise. In the case of a bearing-only sensor, a sum of weighted Gaussians is used to represent the non-Gaussian robot-landmark range uncertainty, resulting in a bank of EKFs for estimation of the robot and landmark locations. In our approach, the Gaussian parameters are designed on the basis of minimizing the representation error. The computational complexity of the GSF is reduced by applying the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) to remove under-performing EKFs. Extensive experimental results are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed techniques.

H.264 표준 동영상 부호화 방식을 위한 순차적 움직임 벡터 오류 은닉 기법 (Sequential Motion Vector Error Concealment Algorithm for H.264 Video Coding)

  • 본 논문에서는 H.264 표준 동영상 부호화 방식을 위한 순차적 움직임 벡터 오류 은닉 기법에 대해 제안한다. H.264 표준 동영상 부호화 방식에서의 움직임 예측과정은 다양한 크기의 서브 매크로 블록 모드에 따라 각기 다른 움직임 벡터 개수를 갖게 되고, 이로 인해 움직임 벡터는 기존의 표준 부호화 방식에 비해 상대적으로 적은 영역을 대표하게 된다. 그러므로 이웃한 블록의 움직임 벡터간의 상관관계는 서브 매크로 블록의 크기가 작을수록 더 커지게 된다. 제안 방식에서는 변화된 국부 통계 특성에 대한 적응도에 따른 $\alpha$-trimmed mean 필터를 이용하여 움직임 벡터를 순차적으로 복구하는 움직임 벡터 오류 은닉기법에 대해 제안한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안한 방식이 실시간 동영상 전송에 적합하며 기존의 블록 경계 정합 방식 및 라그랑즈 보간 방식과 유사한 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper we propose a fast adaptive least squares algorithm for linear phase FIR filters. The algorithm requires 10m multiplications per data point where m is the filter order. Both linear phase cases with constant phase delay and constant group delay are examined. Simulation results demonstrate that the proeposed algorithm is superior to the LMS gradient algorithm and the averaging scheme used for the modified fast Kalman algorithm.

  • In immobilized cell reactors, effective cell mass is a very important parameter which must be estimated during operation for control and regeneration of biocatalyst. In this report, the effective cell mass in immobilized cell reactor was studied using a sequential estimation method. An immobilized yeast reactor was operated in batch recycle mode. The states of the immobilized cell reactor could be estimated from the process data using an extended Kalman filter.

  • For the failure detection of dynamic systems, processing the residuals from the observer of the estimator is the most general method. A failure detection method which use an adaptive predictor to separate the effect of sensor failure from the additive noise in the residuals of a Kalman filter that is employed as an estimator of a dynamic system is addressed here. In the method, the property of the residuals of an optimal Kalman estimator is exploited. The simulation results of this method shows that the proposed method is superior to the sequential probability ratio test for a small failure magnitude.

  • In this paper, the tree coding using the (M, L) multi-path search algorithm has teen investigated. A hybrid adaptation scheme which employs a block adaptation as well as a sequential dadptation is described for application in quantization and compression of speech signals. Simulation results with the gybrid adaptation scheme indicate that a relatively good speech quality can be obtained at rate about 8Kbps. All necessary parameters such as MlL and filter-order were found from simulation and these parameters turned out to be a good compromise between the complexity and overall performance.

개선된 Anti-cloche Filter와 BPF 그리고 오차가 없는 제곱근기를 사용한 SECAM Encoder와 Decoder의 설계 (Design of Digitalized SECAM Video Encoder with Modified Anti-cloche filter and SECAM Video Decoder with BPF and Error-free Square Root)

  • 본 논문은 개선된 Anti-cloche filter를 사용하는 SECAM video encoder와 오차가 없는 제곱근기와 BPF를 사용하는 SECAM video decoder를 제안하고자 한다. SECAM video encoder는 ITU-R BT.470에 의해 지정된 Anti-cloche filter를 사용하지만, Anti-cloche filter가 가지는 특성이 주파수에 따라 매우 급격히 변하기 때문에 디지털회로의 설계에 적용하기가 어렵다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 Anti-cloche filter의 주파수 특성이 좌우대칭이라는 점을 이용하여서 좌우대칭의 중심이 되는 주파수인 4.286MHz를 0MHz로 이동하여 Anti-cloche filter를 High Pass Filter(HPF)로 변환한다. 변환된 HPF는 Anti-cloche filter에 비해 구조가 간단하기 때문에 설계가 비교적 용이하다. 또한 본 논문에서 제시한 SECAM video decoder는 주파수 변조된 신호로부터 색차신호(Db, Dr)를 복원하기 위해서 오차가 없는 제곱근기와 두 개의 미분기 그리고 삼각함수를 이용하여 색상신호의 잡음을 제거하고 CVBS(Composite Video Baseband Signal)로부터 색상신호와 밝기신호를 분리하기 위해서 BPF를 사용한다. 제안된 시스템은 Altera FPGA인 APEX20KE EP20K1000EBC652-3와 TV를 이용하여 실시간 검증을 수행하였다.

클러터가 존재하는 환경에서의 HPDA를 이용한 다중 표적 자동 탐지 및 추적 알고리듬 연구 (A Study of Automatic Multi-Target Detection and Tracking Algorithm using Highest Probability Data Association in a Cluttered Environment)

  • In this paper, we present a new approach for automatic detection and tracking for multiple targets. We combine a highest probability data association(HPDA) algorithm for target detection with a particle filter for multiple target tracking. The proposed approach evaluates the probabilities of one-to-one assignments of measurement-to-track and the measurement with the highest probability is selected to be target- originated, and the measurement is used for probabilistic weight update of particle filtering. The performance of the proposed algorithm for target tracking in clutter is compared with the existing clustering algorithm and the sequential monte carlo method for probability hypothesis density(SMC PHD) algorithm for multi-target detection and tracking. Computer simulation studies demonstrate that the HPDA algorithm is robust in performing automatic detection and tracking for multiple targets even though the environment is hostile in terms of high clutter density and low target detection probability.

정맥패턴을 이용한 개인식별 알고리즘의 고속 하드웨어 구현 (Implementation of Real Time System for Personal Identification Algorithm Utilizing Hand Vein Pattern)

  • In this paper, we present an optimal hardware implementation for preprocessing of a person identification algorithm utilizing vein pattern of dorsal surface of hand. For the vein pattern recognition, the computational burden of the algorithm lies mainly in the preprocessing of the input images, especially in lowpass filtering. we could reduce the identification time to one tenth by hardware design of the lowpass filter compared to sequential computations. In terms of the computation accuracy, the simulation results show that the CSD code provided an optimized coefficient value with about 91.62% accuracy in comparison with the floating point implementation of current coefficient value of the lowpass filter. The post-simulation of a VHDL model has been performed by using the ModelSim$^{TM}$. The implemented chip operates at 20MHz and has the operational speed of 55.107㎳.㎳.
