  • The purpose of this paper is design the most important part of sequential control systems, that is, command-treatment part, from the signal-transformation point of view. An orderly procedure is developed by which for sequential control systems the experimental design method can be reduced to the rational design method. Important in this procedure are: 1. To make total block diagram of sequential control systems by determining input and output signals of command-treatment part. 2. To partition over-all block diagram by observing each output signal. 3. To design concretely minimum block diagram by using the operational block diagram. By applying the method for partitioning the circuit to the design, the design method for sequential control systems is organized and done rationally without the aid of experiece.

  • This paper presents a method of design the counter using sequential system based on synchronous techniques. For the design the counter, first of all, we derive switching algebras and their operations. Also, we obtain the next-state functions, flip-flop excitations and their input functions from the flip-flop. Then, we propose the algorithm which is a method of implementation of the synchronous sequential digital logic circuits. Finally, we apply proposed the sequential logic based on synchronous techniques to counter.

  • This paper deals with the personal computer based design for the sequential machines. Most part of sequential machine design have been implemented by using general purpose microprocessors in order to obtain the specific unctions required for their system. But, they have some difficulties in design stages. Knowledge of systems design method and high technology are basically applied to all the design stages.. Therefore ready made microcomputer system for personal use, personal computer, can be transformed to sequential machines by using the corresponding softwares and built-in personal computer input/output ports. Following the state transition diagram or table, we can obtain the ROM type of sequential machines directly and need not to design input/output interface except actuators and samplers because of capability of personal computer. Our main purpose of this design method are quick, flexible, reliable, modifiable circuit design of the sequential machines. In this paper, we use APPLE-II plus personal computer as target machine.

  • This study deals with the ferromagnetic shims design based on the spherical harmonic coefficient reduction method. The design method using the sequential search method is an intuitive method and has the advantage of quickly reaching the optimal result. The study was conducted for a 400 MHz all-REBCO magnet, which had difficulty in shimming due to the problem of SCF (screening current induced field). The initial field homogeneity of the magnet was measured to be 233.76 ppm at 20 mm DSV (Diameter Spherical Volume). In order to improve the field homogeneity of the magnet, the ferromagnetic shim with a thickness of 1 mil to 11 mil was constructed by a design method in which sequential search algorithm was applied. As a result, the field homogeneity of the magnet could be significantly improved to 0.24 ppm at 20 mm DSV and 0.05 ppm at 10 mm DSV.

  • This paper is concerned with the design automation of the sequential machines. The operations of sequential machine can be diveded into two types such as synchronous and asynchronous sequential machine and their realization is treated in separate mode. But, in order to integrate logic circuits in high volume, mixed mode sequential machine uses common circuitry that consists of gates and flip-flops. Proposed sequential machine can be designed by several method, which are hard-wired implementation, firmware realization by PLA and ROM. And then onr example shows the differnces among three design mothods. Finally, computer algorithm(called MINIPLA) is discussed for various application of mixed-mode sequential machine.

  • More often a commercial package for the structural analysis is necessary in the structural optimum design. In this case the task of combining the package with an optimization program must be required, hut it is not so simple because interchanging some data between them is difficult. Sequential approximate optimization is currently used as a natural way to overcome the hard task. If sequential approximate optimization has wide side constraints that the lower limit of design variables is very small and their upper limit is very large, it is not so easy to obtain approximated functions accurately for the whole design domain. This paper proposes a sequential design domain method, which is very useful to carry out sequential approximate optimization in this case. In this paper, the response surface methodology is used to obtain approximated functions and the orthogonal array is used for design of experiments. The sequential approximate optimization of 3-bar and 10-bar trusses is demonstrated to verify the reliability of the sequential design domain method.

  • In this paper, some of the issue about a group sequential method are considered in the Bayesian context. The continuous time optimal stopping boundary can be used to approximate the optimal stopping boundary for group sequential designs. The exact stopping boundary for group sequential design is obtained by using the backward induction method and is compared with the continuous optimal stopping boundary and the corrected continuous stopping boundary.

  • Curve tessellation, which generates a sequence of points from a curve, is very important for curves rendering on a computer screen and for NC machining. For the most case the sequence of discrete points is used rather than a continuous curve. This paper deals with a method of tessellation by calculating the maximal deviation of a curve. The maximal deviation condition is introduced to find the point with the maximal chordal deviation on a curve segment. In the previous research a curve tessellation was tried by the subdivision method, that is, a curve is subdivided until the maximal chordal deviation is less than the given tolerance. On the other hand, a curve tessellation by sequential method is tried in this paper, that is, points are generated successively by using the local property of a curve. The sequential method generates relatively much less points than the subdivision method. Besides, the sequential method can generate a sequence of points from a spatial curve by approximation to a planar curve. The proposed method can be applied for high-accuracy curve tessellation and NC tool-path generation.

  • This paper proposes a NAND-NAND logic sequential Programmable Logic Array (PLA) using CMOS technology, and test generation methods about stuck-open faults. By using LSSD (Level Sensitive Scan Design) method instead of Flip-Flops in Sequential PLA, the complex test problems of sequential logic are simplified. After generating the test sets using connection graph, regular test sequences and all transistor faults detection method in PLA are proposed. Finally, by programming these algorithms in PASCAL at VAX 8700 and adopting these to pratical CMOS Sequential PLA circuits, we proved the effectiveness of this design.

  • Nowadays, it is performed actively to optimize by using an approximate model. This is called the approximate optimization. In addition, the sequential approximate optimization (SAO) is the repetitive method to find an optimum by considering the convergence of an approximate optimum. In some recent studies, it is proposed to increase the fidelity of approximate models by applying the sequential sampling. However, because the accuracy and efficiency of an approximate model is directly connected with the design area and the termination criteria are not clear, sequential sampling method has the disadvantages that could support an unreasonable approximate optimum. In this study, the SAO is executed by using trust region, Kriging model and Optimal Latin Hypercube design (OLHD). Trust region is used to guarantee the convergence and Kriging model and OLHD are suitable for computer experiment. finally, this SAO method is applied to various optimization problems of highly nonlinear mathematical functions. As a result, each approximate optimum is acquired and the accuracy and efficiency of this method is verified by comparing with the result by established method.
