  • In this paper, an iterative procedure, which detects the location of the outliers and the joint estimates of the outliers effects and the model parameters in the autoregressive moving average model with two types of outliers, is proposed. The performance of the procedure is compared with the one in Chen and Liu(1993) through the Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed procedure is very robust in the sense that applies the procedures to the stationary time series model with any types of outliers.

  • The modified F-expansion method is used to construct analytical solutions of the foam drainage equation with time- and space-fractional derivatives. The conformable derivatives are considered as spacial and temporal ones. As a result, some analytical exact solutions including kink, bright-dark soliton, periodic and rational solutions are obtained.

  • We will introduce speech/speaker recognition algorithm for the isolated word. In general case of speaker verification, Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) is used to model the feature vectors of reference speech signals. On the other hand, Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) based template matching technique was proposed for the isolated word recognition in several years ago. We combine these two different concepts in a single method and then implement in a real time speaker/speech recognition system. Using our proposed method, it is guaranteed that a small number of reference speeches (5 or 6 times training) are enough to make reference model to satisfy 90% of recognition performance.

  • An experience based training system concerning various fire situations which may result many casualties has been required to make rapid decision and improve the responsiveness. Recently, the necessity of virtual reality (VR) based training system which can replace a dangerous full-scale fire training and be easily adopted to the training or evaluation process is increasing. This study constructed tile virtual environment according to pre-defined scenarios, utilized the FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator), three dimensional computational fire analysis program, to derive numerically simulated data on the propagation of fire. Finally, by visualizing the realistic fire and smoke behavior through virtual reality technique and implementing real-time interaction, we developed a VR-based fire training simulator. Also, in order to ensure the sense for tile real of a virtual world and reaI-time performance at the same time, we proposed appropriate data processing and space search algorithms, demonstrate d the value of proposed method through experiments.

  • A new neural network architecture called the Parallel. Self-Organizing Hierarchical Neural Network (PSHNN) is presented. The new architecture involves a number of stages in which each stage can be a particular neural network (SNN). The experiments performed in comparison to multi-layered network with backpropagation training and indicated the superiority of the new architecture in the sense of classification accuracy, training time, parallelism.

  • A discrete event systems (DES) is a physical system that is discrete in time and state space, asynchronous (event rather than clock-driven), and in some sense generative(or nondeterministic). This paper presents the design of fifteen modular supervisors to control an experimental CIM testbed. These supervisors are nonblocking, controllable and nonconflicting. After verification of the supervisors by simulation, the supervisors for AGV system have been implemented to demonstrate their efficacy.

  • This paper derives the algorithm to estimate the operating cost, its marginal cost, and the reliability indices for the long term planning of power system. Treating the load duration curve and the system in the stochastic sense takes the place of the inverted load duration curve, effective load duration curve, and the numerical integration in the conventional methods. The time and accuracy of computation are substantially improved due to the fact that all expressions are represented by simple analytic form instead of the existing recursive form.

  • We propose a distributed medium access control protocol for cognitive radio networks to opportunistically utilize multiple channels. Under the proposed protocol, cognitive radio nodes forecast and rank channel availability observing primary users' activities on the channels for a period of time by time series analyzing using smoothing models for seasonal data by Winters' method. The proposed approach protects primary users, mitigates channel access delay, and increases network performance. We analyze the optimal time to sense channels to avoid conflict with the primary users. We simulate and compare the proposed protocol with the existing protocol. The results show that the proposed approach utilizes channels more efficiently.

  • In this paper, we consider a relatively new two-machine flow shop scheduling problem where the unit time WIP cost increases as a job passes through various stages in the production process, and the objective is to minimize the total WIP (work-in-process) cost. Specifically, we study three special cases of the problem. First, we consider the problem where processing times on machine 1 are identical. Second, the problem with identical processing times on machine 2 is examined. The recognition version of the both problems is unary NP-complete (or NP-complete in strong sense). For each problem, we suggest two simple and intuitive heuristics and find the worst case bound on relative error. Third, we consider the problem where the processing time of a job on each machine is proportional to a base processing time. For this problem, we show that a known heuristic finds an optimal schedule.
