The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of character traits of employees of consulting firm on job satisfaction through self-leadership and self-efficacy. The proposed model is based on big5 model of Coasta and McCrae(1992). To validate the proposed model, structural equation model is analyzed with the valid 140 questionnaires collected from Seoul and nearby cities by using Smart PLS 3.0. The results are as follows. First, extraversion has a positive effect on self-leadership, not on self-efficacy. Second, agreeableness has a positive effect on self-leadership, not on self-efficacy. Third, conscientiousness has a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Fourth, emotional stability does not have a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Fifth, openness to experience has a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Sixth, self-leadership has a positive effect on self-efficacy. Seventh, self-leadership has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Last, self-efficacy has a positive effect on job satisfaction. This research proves that, while the character of employees generally forms the meaningful relationship with self-leadership and self-efficacy, in some entries of Big 5 character elements it has still produced the different results with the previous researches, which betrays that the relationship between one's character and self-leadership and self-efficacy can differ according to the characteristic of jobs. It requires further study to prove how each of Big 5 elements differently effects on self-leadership and self-efficacy according to diverse characteristic of jobs.
Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify gender differences in predictors on dietary self-efficacy in fifth and sixth grade elementary school children. Methods: The data were collected by a questionnaire given to the 408 children between June 7 to June 17, 2011. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: There were gender differences in dietary self-efficacy, exercise self-efficacy, dietary practice and depression. Dietary self-efficacy had a significant positive correlation with exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice and negative correlation with depression for both girls and boys. The predictors of dietary self-efficacy for boy were exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice, these factors explained 37.1% of the total variance. In girls, exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice were significant predictors and explained 38.7% of dietary self-efficacy. Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, it is needed to develop a nursing intervention for dietary self-efficacy in elementary school children including to promote exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice.
This study analyzed the impact of sense of self-efficacy on job satisfaction and organizational commitment among technical designers in order to acquire information needed for human resources management in the field of technical design. The study was implemented through a normative-descriptive survey method using a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 217 technical designers working at vendors and agents located in Seoul. The results revealed that there were significant differences in the sense of self-efficacy levels among technical designers according to age and work experience. Personal self-efficacy had a positive influence on both intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction, but also on affective, continuance, and normative organizational commitment. In addition, personal self-efficacy had a greater influence on extrinsic job satisfaction than social self-efficacy. Both personal and social self-efficacy influenced continuance commitment while there was no relationship between social self-efficacy and affective organizational commitment. However, a clear relationship was found between both social and personal self-efficacy and normative organizational commitment. Nevertheless, social self-efficacy had a greater influence on normative organizational commitment than personal self-efficacy. This fact demonstrates the need to exert more effort to promote the sense of personal self-efficacy of technical designers. These results could be used to provide appropriate proposals for human resources management in the field of technical design.
The purpose of the study was to explore the relationships among the elementary school student's self-control, self-efficacy, and school life adjustment. For achieving the purpose, the study established three research questions: What are the relationships among self-control, self-efficacy, and school life adjustment, is there any statistically significant influence of self-control and self-efficacy on school life adjustment, and is there any mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between self-control and school life adjustment, 276 fifth graders attending three elementary schools in Busan were administrated self-control scale, self-efficacy scale, and school life adjustment scale. The collected data was analyzed by correlation, stepwise multiple regression, and three-step regression analysis. And the regression analyses were separately performed on total and subscale scores. The main results were as the follows. First, there were statistically significant correlations among self-control, self-efficacy including two subscales, and school life adjustment including five subscales. Second, self-control and self-efficacy statistically and significantly influenced school life adjustment and five subscales. Finally, self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between self-control and school life adjustment including five subscales. And discussions on the results were presented.
The purpose of this study was to clarify the meaning of marine officer's self-efficacy, job satisfaction, definition of self-development and factors of determination. It shows that how their self-efficacy affects job satisfaction, self-development and that how their job satisfaction affects self-development. To achieve the purpose of the research, checked the definition and factors of marine officer's duty, self-efficacy, job satisfaction and self-development. Furthermore, cultivated a research model about the factors to influence between self-efficacy and job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development. A result of hypothesis test by regression analysis is that 11 hypotheses were adopted among 17, and the rest of them were dismissed. The contents of hypotheses were set as follows; self-efficacy and internal job satisfaction, self-efficacy and external job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development.
The present study explored relationships between self-esteem, general self-efficacy and creative personality. The responses of 113 university students on self-esteem, general self-efficacy, and creative personality scales were collected and analyzed by Cronbach a tests, Pearson correlations and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that, first, there were significant positive relationships between self-esteem, general self-efficacy and creative personality. Second, the effects of self-esteem on creative personality were mediated by general self-efficacy. Finally, multiple regression analysis demonstrated that self-regulation and self-confidence among the sub-factors of general self-efficacy were good predictors of the creative personality. From these results we conclude that it is important to improve general self-efficacy in order to develop creative personality.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Self-Efficacy Promoting Program on Self-Efficacy, Metabolic Control and Self-Care Behaviors in Patients with NIDDM. Method: Data was collected from March 15th to July 15th, 2001. The subjects of the study consisted of 23 NIDDM patients who had visited regularly the endocrinology out-patient department of Gwangju Christian Hospital. The instrument used in the study Paek's self-efficacy measurement scale, was modified by the researcher, self-care behaviors were created by health care teams, and HbA1c for the sugar metabolic control were measured from the patients blood. The Interventions of the self efficacy promoting program were applied 4 hours a week for 6weeks. Data were analyzed with SPSS/PC+, using T-test and Wilcoxon rank sum test. Result: The mean score for self-efficacy was $70.61{\pm}15.48$ of a 140 point scale, the mean score for $HbA_{1c}$ level was $8.07{\pm}1.86%$. The self efficacy promoting program significantly increased the score of self efficacy(Z=-4.198, P=.000). And the self efficacy promoting program was significantly decreased in metabolic control(Z=-2.585, p=.010). Taking medicine and controlling alcohol were the best self care behaviors of this program. Conclusion: It was established that the self efficacy promoting program was effective for improving self efficacy, metabolic level and self care behaviors in patients with NIDDM.
Purpose : Establishing transcultural self-efficacy is crucial to providing quality nursing care in various clinical settings and adapting to changing roles in different situations. The purpose of this study is to explore the degree of professional identity, satisfaction with clinical practice, and transcultural self-efficacy, as well as the factors influencing transcultural self-efficacy among nursing students, and to provide basic data to increase transcultural self-efficacy. Methods : The study utilized questionnaires that include general characteristics, transcultural self-efficacy, professional identity, and satisfaction of clinical practice for nursing students. This research involved 178 nursing students in G city. The data collected from September 12, 2022 to September 22, 2022. The study was analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The correlation among professional identity, satisfaction of clinical practice, and transcultural self-efficacy was analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficients, and it was analyzed using multiple regression to figure out factors influencing transcultural self-efficacy. Results : The transcultural self-efficacy score was above the middle level and differed according to the transcultural self-efficacy was showed significantly positive correlation with academic grade (F=6.57, p<.001), having foreign friends (t=-2.34, p=.015), interpersonal relations (F=5.74, p=.001). Transcultural self-efficacy was a significant positive correlation with professional identity (r=.59, p<.001), satisfaction of clinical practice (r=.68, p<.001). As a result of regression analysis, it was confirmed that satisfaction of clinical practice (ß=.42, p<.001) and professional identity (ß=.31, p<.001) were factors that influence nursing students' transcultural self-efficacy ; this model could explain 60 %. Conclusion : Satisfaction with clinical practice and professional identity are the main factors influencing transcultural self-efficacy among nursing students. Nursing students are encouraged to develop transcultural self-efficacy by focusing on improving their satisfaction with clinical practice and professional identity. Further research is required to determine the various factors affecting transcultural self-efficacy among nursing students.
By investigating structural relationships between personal image and self-efficacy, this experimental study purposes to suggest a direction and the meaning of effective education on personal image. Based on scholars' studies on personal image and self-efficacy, this study extracts a revised questionnaire on personal image. The experimental study proved the relationship between the variables of personal image and self-efficacy by using personal image questionnaires which are extracted from the literature study. For this purpose, we have conducted a questionnaire survey including 234 students from women's university in Seoul. The results of this study are as follows. First, for cognitions on personal image, which are components of the internal image, both the visual image and social image impacting on self-efficacy have a significant efficacy in the self-regulation factor. Second, the satisfaction rates of the components for personal image impacting all the factors of self-efficacy showed a significant effect. Third, the significant results are being obtained from the analysis of differences in self-efficacy according to the levels of satisfaction rates on internal image and social image, which are expected to have effects on the self-efficacy between the groups for all factors. However, according to the analysis of differences in self-efficacy in relation to the levels of satisfaction for visual images, only the self-confidence factor in the self-efficacy is different between the groups.
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between self-efficacy and self-care of hemodialysis patients. The subjects consisted of 140 hemodialysis patients who underwent hemodialysis at 2 university hospitals. The data were collected by questionnaires and chart review. The questinnaire used the self-efficacy tool developed by Kim Ju Hyune(1995) and the self-care tool developed by literature review and indepth open openended questions to 10 patients. Also, the questionnaire included physiologic data which collected through review of the patients' charts. The statistical analysis was used the SPSS program for frequency, mean, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation. The results were as follows : 1. The mean score for general self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.103(1-4point) and there were significant differences according to percieved health. The mean score for specific self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.113 (1-4point) and there were significant differencies according to percieved health, side effects and complications which related hemodialysis. 2. The mean score for self-care of hemodialysis patients was 3.822(1-5point) and there were significant differencies according to marital status and economic level. 3. The relationship between general self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). The relationship between specific self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). In conclusion, this study revealed the level of self-efficacy and self-care, and the positive correlation between self-efficacy and self-care in hemodialysis patients. Therefore, intervention is needed to promote self-efficacy for self-care of hemodialysis patients. Considering the vulnerable self-care area same as checking blood pressure and weight, fluid restriction, social adjustment, exercise and rest, luther studies should develop self-efficacy promoting programs for self-care of hemodialysis patients.
