In South Korea the gross generation and heated effluent of power generation plant was 259 TWh and 4.73 billion tons in 2008. And then the waste heat from power generation was 388 TWh. It shows that the efficiency of thermal power generation plant is about 40%. Therefore to reduce $CO_2$ emission from thermal power generation plant, the energy of this heated effluent must be reused to heat buildings or farm facilities. In South Korea horticultural facilities of about 25% are heated in winter season. Total area of greenhouses which are heated is about 13,000 ha. Total heat amount needed to warm greenhouse of 13,000 ha in winter season is only 3.4% of total waste heat from power generation plant. In this study a heat pump system was designed to reuse the waste heat from power generation. Especially new heat exchanger was developed to recover the thermal energy from waste water and this model considered anti-corrosion against sea water and low cost for economic feasibility. This heat recovery system was installed in mango growing greenhouse around thermal power generation plant in Seogwipo-city, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The result of preliminary test shows that the heating cost of about 90% is saved as compared to boiler using tax free light oil as a fuel.

As the largest source of food waste is housing, and the food waste properties are good enough to recycle, the proactive approach to conventional food waste disposal is highly regarded. This research is to examine food waste management in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) and non-SMA and to analyze the public inclination to disseminate zero-food waste system (ZFWS) with fermentation and extinction technology in multifamily housing estates. The self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted and the collected data were statistically analyzed. The main findings are summarized as follows: food waste in multifamily housing estates were retrieved by refuse truck and largely recycled for compost and forage. Also, many local governments were in favor of ZFWS, and unwilling to invest in it due to financial constraint. It's found that logistics of ZFWS is likely to be influenced by important features such as a considerable amount of cost saving, effective energy recovery, and efficient operation/management.
This study was conducted to investigate the nutrient supplement use and its related influencing factors by high school students in Chonbuk area. Self administered questionnaires were collected from 489 (urban: 268, rural: 221). Statistical data analysis was completed using a SPSS v. 10.0 program. The results are summarized as follows. According to the general characteristic of subjects, the job and education level of parents and family monthly income respectively affected the nutrient supplement use of subjects (p<0.001). According to the living area, taking a nutrient supplement of parents and nutritional information respectively affected the nutrient supplement use of subjects (p<0.001). About 42.2% of subjects, who taking a nutrient supplement, responded to take a traditional medicine type, and 24.4% of them a multivitamin. Their mothers were important recommended person. The main reason for taking was 'to recommended from parent' (38.5%) and 'recovery from tiredness' (29.6%). The main reason for not-taking was that they were health, therefore nutrient supplements were not necessary. In the future about 43.7% of urban and 33.9% of rural area responded to take a nutrient supplements (p<0.05). These findings show that the behaviors of nutritional supplement usage by subjects are not reasonable, and their supplement usage tends to be affected by general characteristics. Therefore, nutritional understanding and education that are intended to from reasonable behaviors toward nutritional supplement usage of adolescents should be provided with considering the relationship between general characteristic of subjects and supplement usage.
Vitamin mineral supplement usage by self-prescription is popular behavior among adolescents. This study was conducted to investigate the behaviors of vitamin·mineral supplement usage and the relationship between demographic variables and supplement usage by healthy adolescents. Nine hundred seventy two boys and girls, aged 13-18 years, attending general middle or high schools were chosen from various cities and rural communities in Korea. As a result, vitamin·]mineral supplements were taken by 31.3% of subjects. Users tended to take vitamin·mineral supplements more frequently when they were healthy than when they suffered from disease. The taking period of supplements was different according to school type such as middle or high school(p<.05), sex(p<.001) and residence of subjects(p<.01). The main information source of supplements was newspaper/magazine/TV, and it was affected by sex(p<.05) and residence(p<.01). Vitamin·mineral supplements were generally recommended by their mothers instead of health professionals. The commonly cited taking reason of supplements was affected by sex(p<.01)and socioeconomic status of family(p<.05). The frequently responded effect obtained from supplement use was recovery from fatigue and it was different according to sex(p<.01). The major mentioned reason of not taking vitamin·mineral supplements by non-users was 'I eat a balanced diet'. The most frequently consumed supplements were vitamin C, followed by multi-vitamins supplements, and this pattern was different according to school type(p<.001), sex(p<.01) and residence(p<.05). These findings show that the behaviors of vitamin·mineral supplement usage by subjects are not resonable, and their supplement usage tends to be affected by demographic variables. Therefore, nutritional understanding and education that are intended to form the resonable behaviors toward vitamin·mineral supplement usage of adolescents should be provided with considering the relationship between demographic variables and supplement usage.
This study aims to examine the problems that transmissions of an intangible cultural heritage in Korea may be cut off because of the public indifference, low demand for it and lack of government funding and seek ways to revitalize an intangible cultural heritage by increasing citizens' awareness of it and demand for it. According to recent studies, many holders of important intangible cultural properties have a difficulty doing because government funding is not enough to make their living and people who want to learn and pass on traditional skills keep decreasing. Many experts say that governments need to increase citizens' awareness of an intangible cultural heritage and demand for it in the long run to solve this problem, but governments focus on improving condition of holders rather than that. On this account, this study criticizes the government's policy and surveys citizens' awareness of an intangible cultural heritage and demand for it and suggests a plan of revitalizing an intangible cultural heritage.

Superparamagnetic properties of self-aggregated cobalt nanoparticles in the perfluorinated ion-exchange polymeric membrane (MF-4SK) prepared by ion-exchange and recovery methods were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer at various temperatures. Our experimental results show that cobalt nanoparticles in MF-4SK for the concentration of $7.8{\times}10^{19}$ atoms per 1 g of polymer membrane exhibit superparamagnetic properties above the average blocking temperature ($T_{B}$), which is determined to be around 185 K at applied field of 500 Oe. The average particle radius of 4.0 nm achieved from Langevin function fit is in good agreement with TEM observations. This experimental evidence suggests that cobalt nanoparticles in polymer film obey a single domain theory. The results are discussed in the light of current theory for the superparamagnetic behavior of magnetic nanoparticles.

This paper describes the link layer and physical layer of the Serial ATA which is the next generation for parallel ATA specification that defines data transfer between PC and peripheral storage devices. The link layer consists of CRC generation/error detection, 8b/10b decoding/encoding, primitive generation/detection block. For the physical layer, it includes CDR(Cock Data Recovery), transmission PLL, serializer/de-serializer. It also includes generation and receipt of OOB(Out-Of-Band) signal, impedance calibration, squelch circuit and comma detection/generation. Additionally, this chip includes TCB(Test Control Block) and BIST(Built-In Selt Test) block to ease debugging and verification. It is fabricated with 0.18${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard CMOS cell library. All the function of the link layer operate properly. For the physical layer, all the blocks operate properly but the data transfer is limited to the 1.28Gbps. This is doe to the affection or parasitic elements and is verified with SPICE simulation.
Purpose: The study aimed to explore the health consequences that women experienced after miscarriage and the factors related to them. Methods: A convenience sample consisting of 102 women who had miscarried within 2 years was used. Women were recruited from hospitals and enterprises in Seoul and Gyeong-Gi Province. Participants completed a self-administered questionnaire containing a physical and psychological symptoms checklist developed for this study. Results: More than 40% of the miscarriages occurred after 9 weeks of pregnancy and 35% of women were found to have had a previous miscarriage prior to this study. Psychological symptoms were more prevalent and prolonged than the physical symptoms, furthermore, the frequencies of the symptoms experienced were not consistent with the duration of symptoms. Employed women and women with early miscarriages complained of more physical symptoms; however, psychological symptoms were not different according to women's characteristics. Employment was a significant factor affecting physical symptoms. Conclusion: Health care professionals need to inform and educate women and the family of the potential health changes during the recovery after the miscarriage. Health consequences due to miscarriages also need to be incorporated in women's reproductive health care. Nursing care should consider factors of maternal age, employment status, and obstetrical conditions upon the apparent social changes.
Purpose: Various operations have been proposed to compensate for congenital absence of the vagina using ileal or colonic interposition. These methods involve laparotomy, which shows postoperative complications such as long scar and delayed recovery. One case of neovagina reconstruction with laparoscopic rectosigmoid colpopoiesis in Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome is presented to avoid laparotomic complications. Methods: Laparoscopic surgery was performed in a 27-year-old MRKH syndrome patient. After a cruciate incision, blunt dissection through two-finger wide space was created between the bladder and the rectum. A 14-cm rectosigmoid segment vascularized by a branch of sigmoid artery was isolated by laparoscopy. The distal end was sutured with vaginal vestibule mucosa. A continuity of intestine was restored by circular end-to-end proximate curved intraluminal stapler CDH29$^{(R)}$ through perineal opening. Results: Total operation time was 4 hr 15 min. Normal walking and ingestion were possible within 3 days and 4 days after surgery. The hospital stay was 7 days and the patient was followed up for 6 months. The neovaginal introitus was wide enough for inserting two fingers, and there has been no narrowing of the neovagina on palpation as confirmed by vaginogram. The patient had functional self-lubricating neovagina without excessive mucous production or the need for routine dilation or unnoticeable scar. Conclusion: The successful result of this laparoscopic vaginal reconstruction technique with rectosigmoid segment suggests that this technique can be considered for the option of vaginal reconstruction in girls with the MRKH syndrome.
