  • The main aim of this article is to present new fixed point results concerning existence of selection for a multivalued map on hyperconvex product space taking values on bounded, externally hyperconvex subsets under some appropriate hypothesis. Our results are significant extensions of some pioneering results in the literature, in particular M. A. Khamsi, W. A. Krik and Carlos Martinez Yanez, have proved the existence of single valued selection of a lipschitzian multi-valued map on hyperconvex space. Some suitable examples are also given to support and understand the applicability of our results.

  • In automatic map generalization, the formalization of cartographic principles is important. This study proposes and evaluates the selection method for road network generalization that analyzes existing maps using reverse engineering and formalizes the selection rules for the road network. Existing maps with a 1:5,000 scale and a 1:25,000 scale are compared, and the criteria for selection of the road network data and the relative importance of each network object are determined and analyzed using $T{\ddot{o}}pfer^{\prime}s$ Radical Law as well as the logistic regression model. The selection model derived from the analysis result is applied to the test data, and road network data for the 1:25,000 scale map are generated from the digital topographic map on a 1:5,000 scale. The selected road network is compared with the existing road network data on the 1:25,000 scale for a qualitative and quantitative evaluation. The result indicates that more than 80% of road objects are matched to existing data.

  • For map services in the mobile environment, it should be considered that resource restriction or the mobile device. on, if a map database dedicated to mobile services may not be developed, the spatial data extracted from general map databases should be simplified before transmitting. % is paper suggests the filtering methods to manipulate the spatial data, which are changed to be able to displayed on the mobile devices. The suggested methods are evaluated by experiments. This method is based on the map generalization operator 'selection' and is refined to adapt on mobile phone environments.

  • In hierarchical mobile IPv6 networks, when an inter-domain handover occurs, mobile nodes suffer from excessive signaling traffic and long handover latency, resulting in possible disruption of ongoing connections. Further, the selection of MAP and its load status critically affect the overall system performance. Therefore, we propose a dynamic MAP selection scheme that seeks to distribute load among MAPs as well as reduces inter-domain handovers. Performance is evaluated from not only an analytic model of average signaling cost but also simulation. The analytical and simulation results show that our proposed scheme improves load distributedness and reduces inter-domain handovers and signaling cost compared to another existing IETF based approach.

  • Mobility Anchor points are used for the mobility management in HMIPv6 networks. Currently a mobile node selects the MAP farthest away from itself as a new MAP among available candidates when it undertakes a macro hand off. With this technique, however, the traffic tends to be concentrated at a MAP with the largest domain size and the communication cost increases due to the distance between the mobile node and the MAP. In this work, we propose a novel scheme to select a MAP to minimize the communication cost, taking the mobile node's moving speed and data rate into account. To come up with the scheme we analyses the communication analyses the communication cost into the binding update cost and the data packet delivery cost, and derive an equation representing the optimal MAP domain size to minimize the total cost.

  • An HMIPv6 provides micro mobility management using MAP for decreasing handover delay and network load in a mobile IP networks. An HMIPv6 uses distance based algorithm for MAP selection when a mobile host enters a new network domain. However, since every mobile hosts select a farthest router as a MAP, a handover delay and packet loss will be increased. A new MAP selection scheme is herein proposed to solve the problems caused by the distance based MAP selection algorithm by using secondary MAP. We executed the performance evaluation by simulation about handover delay and packet loss of an HMIPv6 and our proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the performance of our proposed scheme is better than that of HMIPv6.

  • This paper proposes an effective method to select MIP-Map level of texture images for ray-traced texture mapping. This MIP-Map level selection method requires only the total length of intersected ray. By supporting MIP-Map for texture mapping, we can reduce the texture aliasing effects, while our approach decreases rendering performance very slightly.

  • Mobility Anchor Points are used for the mobility management in HMIPv6 networks. Currently a mobile node selects the MAP farthest away from itself as a new MAP among available candidates when it undertakes a macro handoff. With this technique, however, the traffic tends to be concentrated at a MAP with the largest domain size and the communication cost increases due to the distance between the mobile node and the MAP. In this work, we proposed a cost effective MAP selection scheme. When leaving the current MAP domain. the mobile node calculates the optimum MAP domain size to minimize the local mobility cost at the new MAP domain considering mobile node's velocity and packet transmission rate. The mobile node then selects a MAP domain of size close to the optimum domain size calculated among the candidate MAP domains. In this way, it is possible for the mobile node to select an optimal MAP adaptively taking the network and node states into account, thus reducing the communication cost.

  • In this paper, we propose a new automatic fingerprint identification system that identifies individuals in large databases. The algorithm consists of three steps: preprocessing, classification, and matching, in the classification, we present a new classification technique based on the statistical approach for directional image distribution. In matching, we also describe improved minutiae candidate pair extraction algorithm that is faster and more accurate than existing algorithm. In matching stage, we extract fingerprint minutiaes from its thinned image for accuracy, and introduce matching process using minutiae linking information. Introduction of linking information into the minutiae matching process is a simple but accurate way, which solves the problem of reference minutiae pair selection in comparison stage of two fingerprints quickly. This algorithm is invariant to translation and rotation of fingerprint. The proposed system was tested on 1000 fingerprint images from the semiconductor chip style scanner. Experimental results reveal false acceptance rate is decreased and genuine acceptance rate is increased than existing method.

  • Development of methodologies to generate the small scale map from the large scale map using map generalization has huge importance in management of the digital topographic map, such as producing and updating maps. In this study, the selection methodology of map generalization for the road network data in digital topographic map is investigated and evaluated. The existing maps with 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scales are compared and the criteria for selection of the road network data, which are the number of objects and the relative importance of road network, are analyzed by using the T$\ddot{o}$pfer's radical law and Logit model. The selection model derived from the analysis result is applied to the test data, and the road network data of 1:18,000 and 1:72,000 scales from the digital topographic map of 1:5,000 scale are generated. The generalized results showed that the road objects with relatively high importance are selected appropriately according to the target scale levels after the qualitative and quantitative evaluations.
