A spot welded structures have an influence on a diverse climatic situation, for instance temperature, humidity and precipitation. In addition factors of environmental pollution such as acid rain, that courses corrosion, have the tendency to increase. But spot welded structures strength is affected by humidity and environment temperature. Therefore, it is important to evaluate effect of temperature and water immersion on strength properties of spot welded part. In this study, the strength distribution of spot welded plates is evaluated the environmental temperature of zinc coated steel plates. Test is conducted with welded part immersed in distilled and synthetic sea water. Specimens are immersed into water for 10, 100, 500 and 1000 hours to evaluate the offsets of water immersion time on tensile-shear strength under the conditions of -40, 0, 20 and 5$0^{\circ}C$. From this result, spot welded specimens with 5 mm clearance have lower tensile-shear strength in the distilled water or synthetic sea water than without clearance. And they have lower tensile-shear strength under -4$0^{\circ}C$ and over 5$0^{\circ}C$.

The sea water resistance of cement and concrete must be compared when it used for construction in the ocean. The sea water resistance of the concrete specimens using three types of cements such as ordinary Portland cement, sulfate resistance Portland cement, blastfurnace slag cement were studied. In this study, an accelerated test for access sea water resistance by subjecting the concrete specimens to repeated cycles of concentrated sea water immersion and hot wind drying was employed. This study proved that sulfate resistance Portland cement had higher resistance for sea water.
An immersion-type on-line refractometer useful for the in-situ measurement of salinity and temperature of sea water is developed, and its performance is examined by applying the refractometer to known salt solution having salt concentration between 2 and 4 % similar to practical sea water salinity. Since refractive index and temperature are measured simultaneously, it is possible to compensate the effect of temperature for fast and direct measurement. The outcome of salinity measurement for the different concentrations of salt solution indicates that the device is suitable for the salinity measurement by yielding stable and reproducible reading.

Spot welded structure is operated in diverse situation because of temperature, humidity and precipitation. In addition factors of environmental pollution such as acid rain, that courses corrosion, have the tendency to increase, But spot welded structure strength is affected by dampness and environment temperatures. Therefore, it is important to evaluate effect of temperature of spot welded part, In this study, the strength distribution of spot welded plates is evaluated about the environmental temperature of zine coated steel plates and test is conducted with welded part immersed in distilled and synthetic sea water. Specimens are immersed into water for 10, 100, 500 and 1000hours to evaluate the effects of water immersion time on tensile-shear strength under the conditions of -40, 0, 20 and $50^{\circ}C$. Strength is evaluated by tensile-shear test. The conditions of spot welding are 240kgf electrode force, 10KA welding current with 0 and 5mm clearance. From this study, spot welded specimens with clearance have lower tensile-shear strength in the distilled water or synthetic sea water comparing with spot welded specimens without clearance. And they have lower tensile-shear strength under $-40^{\circ}C$ and over $50^{\circ}C$.

In order to reduce the risk of death from hypothermia for the fishing vessel's crew at sea, this paper suggests that the criteria of equipment of fishing vessels should be revised for fishing vessels engaged in coastal and inshore fisheries to be equipped with the immersion suit. The criteria of equipment of fishing vessels for immersion suits was amended to reflect the sinking of No.501 Oryongho but it was only reflected in ocean fisheries at Bering sea and Antarctic ocean that immersion suits must be provided with the same number of the total number of crew on board. Therefore, this paper analyses the relationship between maritime accident of fishing vessels and weather condition based on sea water temperature to find out the risk of hypothermia and also compares the international conventions(SFV Protocol 1993, Cape Town Agreement 2012, STCW-F 1995 and SOLAS 1974) and domestic law concerning criteria of equipment of fishing vessels. As a result, fishing vessels engaged in coastal and inshore fisheries are exposed to the risk of hypothermia when they are in distress and the criteria of equipment of fishing vessels should be amended to provide the immersion suits in accordance with the revision trend of international conventions.
In a previous paper, the dirunal and monthly changes of the tidal flat temperature and chlorinity were observed. In this paper the resistance of the young short necked clam in various growth stages to the temperature, to the chlorinity and to the exposure were studies. The young clam used were in early (E), medium (M) and late (L) young stages whose shell lengths were 2.0-3.5mm, 9.0-11.0mm. and 14.0-16.0mm., respectively. The results were : 1. At various sea water temperatures , the chlorinity resistance of the young clam was directly proportional to the shell length. 2. When both inadequate sea water temperature and abnormal chlorinity are simultaneously applied, the resistance of these young clams was more markedly reduced than the case of applying either one of these conditions. 3. In clams of M and L, no lethal effect were observed when daily immersion of four to eight hours for a week into the sea water of any concentration of chloriity at 26-34$^{\circ}C$, whereas in E, 37-90% of mortalities were obtained by immersion of eight hours daily into both the fresh water and the sea water of higher chloriniites (more than 23.5$\textperthousand$ Cl) at the same temperature above. 4. The lower critical thermal maximum for lethal to the young clam was 38$^{\circ}C$. With four hours immersion daily at the water temperature of 38$^{\circ}C$, the mortalities of E, M and L to the lower chlorinities (less than 6.7$\textperthousand$Cl) were 100, 70-100 and 27-37% respectively ; to the higher chlorinities (more than 23.5$\textperthousand$Cl) 10-70, 10-37 and 3 % respectively ; to the normal range of chlorinities (13.4-16.8$\textperthousand$Cl) 0-13, 3 and 0 % respectively. 5. No lethal effects were observed in E and M clams immersed continuously for seven days in sea water with chlornities of 7.2 -21.7$\textperthousand$Cl at 18-24$^{\circ}C$, while notable mortalities were observed in E which had been kept at lower (less than 4.8$\textperthousand$ Cl) and higher (more than 24.1$\textperthousand$ Cl) chlorinites. 6. Although the resistance of the young clam to the chlorinity may have to be related closely to the life history of the clam prior subject to the experiment, the adapted chlorinity range was 7.2-19.3$\textperthousand$ Cl and the optimum range was 13.4-16.8$\textperthousand$Cl. 7. Remarkable lethal effects were observed for the E and M clams to the exposure temperature of 38$^{\circ}C$ whereas the L and had no such fatal results.

In case of RC(Reinforced Concrete) structures which are constructed in coastal areas, chloride ions in sea water corrode the steel rebar in concrete. Especially in coastal areas, RC structures are affected by not only immersion of sea water, but also tidal of sea water and airborne chloride ions. In this study, marine environment exposure tests are conducted, considering 3 types of exposure environments(immersion zone, tidal zone, splash zone) and the exposure periods of 180 days, 365 days, and 730 days. Also, the concrete mixtures for this study are established, considering 3 levels of W/B(Water to Binder) ratio(0.37, 0.42, 0.47) and 2 levels of substitution rate of Fly ash(0 %, 30 %). In all exposure environments, Fly ash concrete has lower apparent chloride diffusion coefficients than OPC concrete. It is thought that fly ash's pozzolan reaction improves chloride resistance of concrete. Fly ash concrete has up to 63.5 % of decreasing rate in 180 days of exposure and up to 55.8 % of decreasing rate in 730 days of exposure, based on diffusion coefficients of OPC concrete. As a result of evaluation about effects of exposure environments, apparent chloride diffusion coefficients of fly ash concrete are evaluated in order of tidal zone, immersion zone, and splash zone. In tidal zone, It is thought that repeated cycles of wetting and drying of sea water cause the diffusion of chloride ions rapidly.

The case was described of a 31 year old female who developed fusiform swelling of the right third finger at the site of puncture by sea urchin spine. We observed a radiopaque linear material suggesting a remnant spine which the size was 2.4 mm in sonography and mammography. We confirmed that it exhibits a urchin spine and distinct caseous necrosis with central calcification. Sea urchins(Echinoidea) are ubiquitous marine creatures that resemble pincushions and are covered by calcareous skeletons surrounded by numerous movable calcium carbonate spines. The sharp spines are brittle and easily detach when touched by the victim. Contact with sea urchin spines produces intense pain, some localized erythema and edema. Inflammation develops in response to retained fragments. Granulomas 1-5 mm in diameter develop rarely 2-12 months after envenomation. In treatment, hot water immersion and thorough wound cleansing are advisable. Analgesics may, be necessary after hot water immersion. Attempts to remove these spines should be performed with good lighting sources, preferably with radiological direction. Chronic granulomas usually require complete excision. Acetone has been suggested for rapid resolution of pain. No antidotes are available.

The ingress of chloride ions plays a crucial role for service life design of reinforced concrete structures. In view of durability design of concrete structures under marine environment, one of the most essential parameters is the surface chloride content of concrete. However, on the basis of the results of in-situ investigation, this value has been determining in the numerous studies on the durability design of concrete structures. Hence, it is necessary to confirm the range of the surface chloride content in order to establish a unified durability design system of concrete. This study suggests a rational and practical way to calculate the maximum surface chloride content of submerged concrete under marine environment. This approach starts with the calculation of the amount of chloride ingredients in normal sea water. The capillary pore structure is modeled by numerical simulation model HYMOSTRUC and it is assumed to be completely saturated by the salt ingredients of sea water. In order to validate this approach, the total chloride content of the mortar and concrete slim disc specimen was measured after the immersion into the artificial sea water solution. Additionally, the theoretical, the experimental and in-situ investigation results of other researchers are compiled and analyzed. Based on this approach, it will follow to calculate the maximum surface chloride content of concrete at tidal zone, where the environment can be considered as a condition of dry-wetting cycles.

In this study, the corrosion property of copper alloy tubes in seawater has been investigated. Three copper alloys of nominal composition Cu-20Zn-2Al(Al-Brass), Cu-30Ni(CN70/30) and Cu-10Ni(CN90/10) were considered. The samples were immersed in 3%NaCl flowing solution at $90^{\circ}C$ for 30, 50 and 80 days. Corrosion rate of copper alloy tubes in 3%NaCl flowing solution was investigated by weight-loss measurements and electrochemical test. The CN70/30 showed lowest corrosion rate among three copper alloy tubes. Because of passive films formation, corrosion rates of three types of copper tubes were decrease with time. Surface characteristics of copper alloy tubes were analyzed by optical micrograph(OM), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDAX) and X-ray diffraction patterns(XRD). CN70/30 showed partly pitting problem on the surface owing to high Fe content, even though having high resistant against corrosion. Cracks appeared on the surface of CN90/10 and CN70/30 after more than 50 days immersion, which could be derived from high nickel contents.
